This my first Jessica McBrayer read and it's part of the Savannah Heat Hockey Series. I think it stood alone well, however based upon my enjoyment of Xander, I will be seeking out the other books in the series. I was impressed by the depth of the character portraits, both primary and secondary. I liked the way Ms McBrayer had the primary couple mature and grow throughout the novel. Their chemistry was immediately evident, but their journey to love took awhile longer and required some compromise and communication. Xander is well written, passionate and there's a great balance of character/story/passion. 3.5
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.

This is my first book by this author and the blurb sounded great. Sadly, after three chapters, I could not get into this one. I’m not sure why. I don’t even feel a need to skip to the end and see how it’s ends.

The story is unusual (in a good way), I liked how it started in the middle of their romance. Both characters are great esp Xander!

However for me personally the writing was very detailed and I prefer a book with a lot more pace. But if you like the writing style it will be a 5 star winner for you.

Xander - Winter's Warmth is the second book in Jessica McBrayer’s Savannah Heat series and is a wonderful story with depth and emotion. Readers definitively savour the romance between Xander and Rachel, but the presence of the characters from the first book play an integral part in this story. Some drama and suspense are also front and centre, with lies and deception lurking in the shadows. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next in the series.

This is Xander and Rachel book, it’s book 2 in the savanna heat hockey team series. Xander is a former playboy living the high life with plenty of puck bunnies and partying !! Until he meets Rachel , she makes him want to change his wild ways!! But when a former one night stand shows up on his doorstep with a severely underweight baby and big time underdressed for the frigid weather and dumps him with nothing more than a wave ! He doesn’t really know what to do with all of this! While him and Rachel do the best with everything his ex fling hatched a plan to cash in on Xander’s nhl hockey money with her new psycho boyfriend looking for a big pay day! It takes Xander and Rachel and a whole bunch of good people to make everything ok! This book was great!!! I liked the first book in the series a lot but I loved this one!! I definitely recommend reading this one and the whole series! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
