I really enjoyed this self-help book. The author talks about yoga and how you can live yoga, not necessarily do yoga to help live a more authentic life. The book is easy to understand and anyone can benefit from it. The author talks about the small shifts that you can make and how they can lead to big changes, ultimately helping you live a life that is more true to yourself and has purpose. It's great to get these reminders constantly, as it's easy to hold onto long held belief's and not want to budge on them. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
In One Degree Revolution, Coby Kozlowski shares poetry, stories, yogic teachings, and exercises to help you identify small shifts that can change your life profoundly. She is a kind, compassionate teacher, and I appreciated the friendly tone of her writing.
Unlike other books I’ve read on yoga, this book talks less about poses (asanas) and more about the other paths of yoga: Bhakti (devotion), Karma (action and service),and Jnana (knowledge and wisdom). The author introduces many Sanskrit terms, but she explains them well, so the book is relatively easy to understand even if you have no background in yoga. I like her emphasis on living yoga rather than just doing yoga, and her approach makes that seem very attainable.
This is a book I plan to return to often. It is best read slowly, with plenty of time to work through the suggested inquiries. I particularly loved her instruction on intuitive meditation, which is a style of meditation for those of us with busy lives.
I recommend this book for anyone interested in living more intentionally. It’s a nice introduction to yoga, and although the inquiries are based on yogic philosophy, an interest in yoga is not required to benefit from this book.
I was provided an unproofed ARC through NetGalley that I volunteered to review.
In the One Degree Revolution, Coby Kozlowski offers her hard-won learning and wise perspective on how to "live in wonder and curiosity." Her bracing, encouraging words allow the reader to consider and decide upon the small changes they can make to shift their life toward positive change, beginning exactly where they are and moving into the world with increased insight and vitality. I enjoyed every word, appreciated her respectful approach (she can't know what a good life is for anyone other than herself), and the practices/questions she poses are ones that can be mulled, used, transformed into what best works for each person. A valuable, life-changing guide.
Enjoyable self-help book that uses the principles of yoga to help with making changes to your life for personal growth. Super interesting to think about how the choices & decisions we make (even one degree) can impact our lives. I enjoyed this book & would recommend.
Thank you Coby Kozlowski, St. Martin's Press, and Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This excellent self-help book offers the philosophy of yoga for personal transformation and growth. If you are into yoga, you'll want to go beyond the poses and physical practice of yoga and explore the deeper wisdom offered in this book. If you're not into yoga, rest assured that you won't need any knowledge of the physical practice of yoga at all to benefit from this book.
The author offers lots of wise counsel in this book, accompanied by pertinent questions to explore your authentic self and put past demons to rest. This book would be great for anyone finding themselves in any sort of transitory season of life and wanting to move forward. The book is well-written and keeps your interest to the last page. Highly recommended.
Coby Kozlowski does a good job of presenting interesting information about the various types of yoga and ties in how living the yoga life can inspire you to make small changes that have big impacts on your life. As she says, only one degree difference in navigating a boat and you end up an entirely different place. So too, can the myriad of decisions and choices we make and how we handle situations impact the life we lead and our satisfaction with that life.
Very readable, as with any self-improvement book, you'll find some of the information seems to speak directly to you while other bits fall to the side. The book invites you to constantly observe and question your life to make sure you are doing what supports what you'd like from your life and is in keeping with values you define as important to you. It's also good at reminding us that we play a part in every interaction and thus have some /accountability/responsibility as to its outcome. We are constantly building our life, growing and evolving. A refreshing read.
One Degree Revolution gets a 3.5 star review from me.
Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Essential Press for allowing me to read an ARC of the book in exchange for an unbiased review. Opinions expressed are my own.
This is a book you read slowly going back over certain points and rereading. This book will help you make small changes in your life one step at a time that lead to larger bigger changes. It is breath of fresh air and a book that needs to be marked up and notated. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.
I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy free of charge. This is my honest and unbiased opinion of it.
“You are not your past/you are not your wounds/You are the co-creator of your reality”
I started reading this book the way I usually read most books—quickly. This is really something you should go through thoughtfully, flagging the parts that speak to you.
This uses yoga philosophy as a way to change small things in your life, little by little potentially leading to big change. You don’t need to practice yoga to understand what she talks about. I used to practice yoga a lot more than I do now, but most of the terms she talks about in here that she clearly defines I’d never heard of, so don’t trouble yourself with that aspect of this.
As with most books about living a better life, some parts really spoke to me, while others I shook my head and thought, “That is so never going to happen.” In case you’re wondering, I’m absolutely never going to hang out in the woods without a cell phone and create “forest art” with twigs and pinecones and leaves.
There were so many great quotes and ideas in here. I really recommend buying this so you can highlight ideas that inspire you and try to implement a few things into your own life.
It’s a bummer that this comes out a couple weeks after Christmas because this seems like a book both my mother and sister would enjoy. In any case, thanks so much to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book, which RELEASES JANUARY 7, 2020.
