Steamy and fast-paced. this story packs a bit of a punch as the characters work to bring down a terror threat on US soil. the chemistry sizzles, and the action leaves you breathless.
Looking for fast-paced suspense romance story? Then, Total Control is the one for you. It's paced-fast novella plus explosive chemistry between Navy SEAL and FBI agent.
It starts off with FBI agent Alexa asking Jake (Navy SEAL) a favor. I'm going to let you know something, their chemistry is explosive that you are wondering why they are not together at all in the beginning of the story. I will tell you why. Alexa is very strong independent woman that everyone should be but she has trouble in asking for helpings which will create some problems. It is okay to ask for help but Alexa is difficult in asking. But eventually she does when she needs help from the hunky yet operative Navy SEAL Jake.
Jake always have hots for Alexa but she never give him the time or day. And he gets super excited that she calls. It not be a date but it is an start for him. And he is willing to pull moves no matter what explosives is coming his way. I like his determination in pursuing her. And I even love it more when he does not want to change any of her, just wants to be there in there.
Total Control will bring Alexa and Jake together while they fight suspense mission in the US.
Four Stars
Alexa is a FBI agent with the counter terrorism unit. She is hunting for terrorists located in California. Jake is a Navy SEAL and he met Alexa a couple of times on an assignment. He has been trying to talk to her but she ignores his calls. When she needs help locating the terrorist, she goes to Jake. Alexa wants Jake to work this with her even though her boss hasn’t sanctioned the op. The longer they work together, the more her feelings come through. Can they stop the mad man before he blows something up?
Awesome story. A little short but action and romance. A guy who just wants the girl. A woman who is afraid of being hurt.

I'm going to start off by saying that I am a huge fan of Laura Griffin's books and try to read each one she releases especially her Tracers series. However, I didn't really feel like this story was one of her best. I felt like Alexa was trying to keep Jake out of the investigation even though she went to him for help. Alexa and Jake didn't get a happily ever after like we expect, but an "I trust you" as the ending. I enjoyed the interactions between the two characters and thought they were well rounded characters but their ending wasn't satisfactory. I hope that there is a continuation to their story or at least a novella to where we can see more from them.

Not sure why, but it took me a bit to really get into these characters and the plot of the story. As I got farther into the book, I was more involved and especially when they were chasing after the van with the bomb, I could not put the book down.
I liked that Jake said that to make their relationship work, they would need to make a commitment just like Alexa did when she wanted to get into the FBI.
The only part that I would have liked included is what happened with her boss when he tried to shut down her investigation and turns out that she was right and she and Jake stopped a terrorist attack!?
Total Control keeps the tension high as Alexa and Jake race against time to stop a terrorist plot--at least Alexa is pretty sure there's a terrorist plot; her boss (and ex) is less convinced (sigh). Theirs is a second chance romance; they had worked together six months or so earlier and went out once, but Lexie's past experiences with workplace dating and reservations about being in a relationship with someone who frequently goes on long deployments has had her ignoring his attempts at communication since. But now she needs his expertise, and Jake is determined to take this opportunity to convince her to give their relationship a second chance.
Ms Griffin kept the focus on Lexie and Jake throughout the book--especially their burgeoning relationship and their attempts to uncover and stop the terrorist plot Lexie is sure is going on. Even though Lexie's working throughout the story (Jake is on weekend leave for most of it) we don't see her in the office much, and she only briefly interacts with coworkers on the page. Still, the suspense portion kept you on the edge of your seat, especially toward the end when things really started to come together.
Total Control is the 4th book in the series but could work fine as a standalone as well. You'd miss out on the earlier portion of Lexie and Jake's relationship, but they reflect enough on it here that you'll still understand what went wrong then and have faith that their HFN here could turn into an HEA in the end.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I am obsessed with Laura Griffin's writing, she has quickly become one of my must read favorite authors. I enjoyed this book but I would have liked to see more build up to the romance. I know the characters met eachother in the previous book, but that didn't focus on them. I felt like this went very quickly to I can't live without you, and I would have liked to see more of the process of why they were so into eachother.. That being said it was still a great book! Mystery, Romance and some humor thrown in! I am a fan!!!!
When an FBI agent and Navy Seal work together to locate a terrorist, it is important and intriguing for all. When they have a history of attraction and he is working off the clock as a favor, it is even more intense. Alexa has to work hard to maintain her professionalism and to be treated as an equal in the world she chose. She had made choices in the past that have cost her and she is afraid to fall for Jake. Throw in an adorable bomb sniffing dog and you have a recipe for a great story. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Jake is a Seal. Lexi is a FBI agent can the two of them stop the terrorist cell operating in the US. While they are looking for them can the find a love like no other. This book was filled with romance, adventure, @nd danger. It was a read that I enjoyed because it kept me guessing!
I read this book as an arc from NetGalley
I really enjoyed this book! This is the 4th book in the Alpha Crew Series and in my opinion it did not disappoint. I don't think you have to read the previous books to enjoy this story, however, I started the book loving Jake & Alexa (Lexie) already and I feel that may have added to my excitement. The story is sexy, action packed, and a quick engaging read. I loved the tension between Jake and Lexie and wanted to read more of their relationship. Fantastic book & I hope that Laura Griffin will write more books in this series!!

Jake and Lexie have chemistry but the terrorist plot was a bit weak. A huge plot isn't expected in romantic suspense, but it sure helps. As for being memorable, the characters could easily be interchanged with others in the series. This one, while a fair distraction, was not distinguishable.

Short novel or novella? I don't know what the rule is to determine which, and, I frankly don't care. Either way this was a hot, action packed read perfect for a day at the beach on this Labor Day weekend. I love Laura Griffin's take on my favorite Spec Op warriors, SEALs.
Navy SEAL Jake Heath met FBI Agent Alexa Mays six months ago while on a Op and has tried to reconnect with her, but she has done nothing but duck his calls. Then one day she shows up at his favorite dive bar needing his help. Not exactly what he had in mind, but who knows where it could end up.
Her counterterrorism team has reason to believe that there is a terrorist on American soil and that he is planning an attack. The hitch is that her boss isn't taking her or her terrorist seriously. She needs Jake and his sources to track this all down.
Jake is all SEAL and tenacious as they come. When he sees something he wants he goes after it and he wants Lexie. As he gathers intelligence, he is also convinced that Lexie is right and together they need to stop this terrorist before he can strike a target in the Los Angeles area.
This book was fast-paced, steamy and world saving. I have not read the other books in this series and you don't have to, to enjoy this book. Jake is exactly what you would think a Navy Seal is and Alexa and a fierce FBI agent. They come together in this book to stop a terrorist in LA. Alexa also fights her feels for Jake while he convinces her to take a chance.

Total Control is the fourth Alpha Crew series book by Laura Griffin. Jake Heath is one tough, get-the-mission-completed Navy SEAL. Alexa Mays a FBI agent is his equal in the toughness and determination department. This is great since they team up to stop a time sensitive terrorist plot before it is too late.
These two characters have great chemistry working together as well as in their attraction to each other. I get that Alexa has been pushing Jake away but these two belonged together which truly is shown in this story. While the story is not long, it is action packed from beginning to end. Even the training mission at the beginning is exciting. The romance builds as these two are working together. Another wonderful read by this author.
Quick suspenseful read. After ignoring him for months, Alexa reaches out to Jake to help her find someone while trying to ignore the chemistry between them. Together, they work to stop a terrorist attack on American soil.
I enjoyed the novella, but hope to hear more of them in future books as their romance was just taking off and they are facing a lot of separation with Jake’s job.

Goodreads synopsis:
The New York Times bestselling author of Desperate Girls and Touch of Red returns to her sizzling Alpha Crew series with this fourth thriller filled with “scorching-hot chemistry” (Kirkus Reviews) featuring a Navy SEAL who meets his match in a fierce FBI agent as they work together to take down a dangerous terrorist.
Navy SEAL Jake Heath has his eyes on Alexa Mays. The FBI Agent is whip smart and hot as hell, but she won’t give him the time of day. So, when she calls him out of blue, he thinks his luck has changed.
But instead of meeting up for a romantic dinner, Alexa needs Jake for a very different reason. Her counterterrorism team is hot on the heels of the extremist that Jake’s task force has been tracking for months, and now he’s on American soil. The only way she can take him down is with Jake’s help.
Alexa knows Jake is tough and relentless...and that the chemistry between them is electric. Although she’s risking her heart—and maybe even her career—by bringing him onto the mission, she doesn’t have another choice. Together, they’re an unstoppable and powerful team.
As the hours tick by and a lethal enemy gets closer to launching an unimaginable attack, Alexa and Jake need to fight fire with fire before the clock runs out. The only question is: will their own flames get in the way?

This is the fourth book in the Alpha Crew series by Laura Griffin.
Alexa is playing against the rules. She isn’t supposed to include Jake Heath in her operation. I was a bit unclear as so why it was such a no-no. Something about someone not supposed to be working to capture terrorists on American soil.
The two both knew of each other previously and lusted after each other but had never gotten together to date. Not sure why considering their instant attraction.
At first the camping trip Jake skips seems almost like his father wanted one more family outing before he died but I think I read too much into the encounter. Jake brushed it off pretty easily once he decided to take Alexa up on her offer.
I felt like this book was too short. I am used to the longer Griffin novels and I didn’t get as much detail about the situation before they were closing in on the suspect.
There was a scene near the end where I flashed back to another Griffin novel where the perp was also traced to a mall. For a second I wondered if I had already read this book but then realized it wasn’t the same story. Just the same flavor. I felt like the wrap up was too quick as well. I was ready to be invested for the long haul and before I knew it, it was over. I would consider this novella length instead of novel length. But the length doesn’t make me love it any less.
Griffin has a great way of making us fall not just in love with her characters but with the story situation as well. She knows how to write romantic suspense like it’s her job… okay, well, it is, but you know what I mean.
This is one short book you won’t want to pass up.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
So very good. Lots of action but also some pretty, sweet romance.
An FBI agent and a Navy SEAL, what could be better? Almost nothing right except when it's written well and it's slammed with great characters and a wonderful dog. This is a fantastic read!

Total Control by Laura Griffin is the fourth book in the Alpha Crew series. Let me tell you the Alpha Crew are hot, hot tickets. They are SEALS - need I say more?
Jack Heath is a SEAL who works and works more. He has been part of many important missions and has not formed a lasting relationship because of the job. BUT then he met Alexa Mays, a kickass FBI agent and he fell. She however does not want a relationship, because of her past and her job. Jack ends up helping her do some investigation, which turns a bit more lethal than either thought.
This is the first book I have read in this series by Laura Griffin. I have enjoyed other books she has written so I wanted to read more of her books. Total Control can definitely can be read as a stand alone book. There are great chase scenes, hot scenes and some fun repartee between the characters. I enjoyed the book plot line and found it a quick fun read. Total Control by Laura Griffin is a good read!

Lexi is an FBI Agent who doesnt have time for love. When a to secretary mission comes up and she needed extra resources she knows exactly who she needs.
Jake is the best SEAL member there is. When Lexie asks for help he cancels his weekend plans.
Will they be able to keep this all business?
