Miss T.N. King is that friend or Auntie that we all need who will give it to us straight and hold us accountable in our wayward ways.
This is a fast and uplifting book that all women should read. She helps us understand ourselves, our friends and our colleagues. We all have been or have known that woman who falls away when a new man comes into the picture-- even if everyone around her can see the situation is doomed from the start.
I was hoping this book would help my teenage daughter see this trend is a universal truth rather than specific to her friendship group- and it does. But it does more than that, Miss King teaches us a better way.
The publisher provided an ARC through Netgalley. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts
A very uplifting and positive book, offering tips to achieve more self-esteem and self-love. It is very Christianity oriented so I would recommend this to someone who is religious and believes in God’s teachings.
Quick to read and it is an enjoyable read, encouraging people to put their own happiness first. Contains some good advice but may not be everyone's cup of tea.
This book is perfect for anyone that has low self-esteem or for those women that always put other people's happiness before their own. I loved how the author gave realistic advice on how to handle situations such as women bashing women, as this happens way more than it should. Also, I have to agree that many of us look up to the wrong people and that causes us to look down upon ourselves. This was a great read!
This was book was a quick, uplifting read. There is a very heavy emphasis on Christianity, so it probably would not be a book I would recommend to someone who is not Christian. There was not anything in this book that I thought was groundbreaking or something I have not seen before, but I thought it was a nice compilation and somewhat inspiring. Note: This review will also be posted on Goodreads.
What an uplifting book! Woman are notorious for "losing" themselves when we are in relationships and from so many distractions in life. The author shares her own personal stories as well as stories of other individuals who have lost themselves. These stories are easy to relate to. Her book focuses showing us how to reconnect with our true selves- our inner Goddess. She shares practical tools and Biblical insights that you can begin to implement in your life right now! Definitely recommend this one. Thank you to Netgalley and Miss T.N. King for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
There's an epiphany that Miss King shares in this book "A common mistake I notice us women make is that we stop loving ourselves when we start loving a man." I could also add "our children," to this phrase and though it may seem a bit far fetched to some people, for though it is a thing of beauty and utmost respect to bring forth a child, as women we readily let ourselves go under the guise of "i'm taking care of the children," and forget that we've got to be of good health, sound mind and emotionally in tune to be better mothers.
I loved the format of this book, first are the stories shared by other women "I lost myself when..." and you can actually relate to their situations. Then come the insights drawn from the Bible, the author's experiences and famous people's experiences and finally a call to action and those keys for reflection are amazing. This book would be great if it came with a journal. However, I got the eARC from Netgalley and it was worth the while.
