Tracy Goodwin is new Author for me. But when I started this book I found it really Enjoyable & was page turning.
I Loved the character Nick, and the story line captivates your attention from beginning to end. I Recommend it to all Readers.
Was a decent romance. There were elements I liked and elements I didn’t. Characters and pacing was well done.
This book has a great cover. The Book was also good. The story was interesting and it was an easy read.
Content warnings: Infertility (fibroids) and miscarriage (not on page)
I really wish there had been a content warning at the start of this book because I likely would have waited to pick it up. While I'm really glad there wasn't a magic baby at the end, reading the lines "I'm broken and can't be fixed" and "The barren daughter" were really hard.
The potential for this story was definitely there! I loved that Nick was "normal" and not what we typically see from hockey heroes. But I think the part that bothered me the most about this one was the fact it was in first person and there was so much introspection. Just pages and pages of repeated thoughts. This especially bothered me in Cami's POV when there were lots of comments about her mysterious past and things that can't be spoken of, but she was the one thinking it? I know this is nitpicky, but when you're thinking to yourself in real life, you don't hind things from your internal narrative, you know? It really took me out of the story.
I think between the writing style and the surprise infertility storyline, I'm unlikely to pick up other books by this author, but I do hope other readers enjoy it!
As always, I appreciate the opportunity to read and review one of your titles. Unfortunately, this title didn’t work for me and I have chosen not to review it.
Please also let me extend my apologies for this being so incredibly late (as I am guessing it’s more than obvious I didn’t review at this point) as I like to hold negative or DNF reviews until a title is no longer available on NetGalley, and sometimes posting once it has been archived slips my mind.
Hot hockey player plus one night only stakes? Sign me up. This story was delicious fun, the kind you sit down to enjoy while escaping from whatever adulting you have to do.
Ice Hard is a hockeyromance. Nick is the team bad boy and cami is the cliche good/naive girl and of course it’s the instant romance There was nothing wrong with the book, but it also wasn’t exciting after waiting for it to come out either
Another good book that’s been sitting in my kindle for a while. The best thing about being quarantined is that I get to read all the book I haven’t yet! I believe that this is my first book from the author and a pretty good one for introductions!
The story is really enjoyable. There were times that I laughed and others where I felt the tension between them. These two are both so wrong and right for each other. The ending may be predictable, however the overall plot until then is very good!
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I wanted this book so badly and was thrilled to receive it as an arc. It has all the things that I like in a great romance novel, sexy hockey player ready to rumble. I have tried at least six times to get into this book and just don't like the voice of the main character who comes off as super whiney to me.
This book was amazing. If you’re a fan of hockey and romance, then this is the book for you.! I enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters. I have ready other hockey romances and this book hit the mark. This story had humor, angst, passion and of love. I read it in one sitting. I’m recommending this book to all my hockey romance friends.. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did.
If you love sports romance, you'll love this book! Nick has had bad luck with dating apps. He wants true love like his teammate, Chris. While he is at a bachelor party for Chris he meets knock-out bar tender Cami. But Cami has sworn off jocks. Nick is determined to win her over. Will he wear down Cami? Only time will tell. This was a sweet and steamy read. 4 stars for the hot hockey romance!
Ice Hard is the second book in the Nighthawks Hockey series, it stands alone as well. If you are a fan of hockey/sports centered romances, Tracy Goodwin writes an entertaining story. Her characters could have been a little more complex, especially the hero, but they were engaging nonetheless. The story itself seemed a little short, but the happily ever after was satisfying. I will continue to book 3.
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.
All the fame and success couldn’t buy the one thing Nick was looking for. Love. His own special person that would stand by him through the test of time. Finding Cami was a stroke of luck and he was thankful she understood the man behind the formidable hickey player. Giving love another try Cami has to put aside her past to embrace the future. Great story and I absolutely loved the characters.
Nick needs a date to the wedding from the first book. He meets Cami who finally agrees to be his date but just for the wedding. Her rule is no hockey players. Her problem becomes is she agreed to go with Nick. At the wedding they hit off he finds her sarcastic, funny, and unapologetic about her choices. What she won’t tell him is why no hockey players.
Nick the “Dominator” is known for finding out things about his opponent that he can tell him throughout the game that will get into his head and make the other guy throw off his game. Now he is working at what makes her tick, why the no hockey players, but also what she likes. He begins to wear her down. Cami wants to stay away from Nick but it becomes difficult because he is making himself likable and more attractive to where she can’t find a reason to stay away. The characters are good as is the story, a very good book.
I hate to give this book a one star rating. but since NG makes you leave one that's what I must choose. I could not get into this book and therefore will not be reviewing this on my blog or other outlets.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley.
Ice Hard is a hockey/sports romance.
Nick is the team bad boy... Cami has refused to date hockey players.... but Nick is determined to win her over.
TO be honest.. it was the typical bad boy / good girl / insta romance cliche.
There was nothing WRONG with the book, but there was nothing amazing about it either.
Today's book is Ice Hard and was written by Tracy Goodwin. This book is the second in the New York Nighthawks series which is a contemporary romance series. I received this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy from LoveSwept through NetGalley. Nick George is a professional hockey player and Camille Bennett is a restaurateur who is not willing to give a second hockey player the chance to break her heart. The two start out as strangers who agree to attend a wedding together, followed by spending the night and separating after that, though Nick decides that he wants to know more about Cami and help her accomplish he dreams, while Cami is all for stopping their relationship after one night. In the end the characters learn what it means to be happy and content with their lifestyles.
I was impressed by the author's background on why Cami refuses to date hockey players and how it was done at a much deeper level than the usual for stories that involve this trope type of relationship. I wonder why the author did not have Cami interacting more with her ex as a way to gain full closure on the previous relationship. I also wonder why Cami's family was so against her personality type of helping everyone out when she could and the problem has no real resolution. It reminds me the Wynn Hockey series by Kelly Jamieson and not because they are both sport romances based on hockey players but the drama in Cami's family and the way the players sort of create their own family among one another.
The overall plot was good and had a lot of interesting points, so 8 points. The overall character development was okay but lack some needed growth, so 6 points. The overall layout and flow was excellent, so 8 points. The overall grade was 73% or 4 stars. Yes, I would recommend this book. Those who enjoy sport romances, happily ever afters, and whole families. Those who dislike divorce, family bickering and insults in a professional setting, should stay away.
This book is super cute. If that is what you're looking for in your romance, this is a book for you. Nick is super goofy and in touch with his sensitive side... like a lot. Cami is strong willed and hurt, which just leads to the rabbit hole of never ending awkwardness in some of their interactions.
I enjoyed this read. It is written well and offers all of the major check points when it comes to a romance read. It wasn't for me personally, but again- if cute is your style, read it.
This was...pretty bad. Lots of showing us and not telling us why the main characters (can't remember their names) are so good together, but isn't the whole point of a romance novel for us to follow the journey the couple goes on together? I didn't feel anything about them. I am glad that there wasn't a magical miracle pregnancy in the epilogue, but that's about all I have to say.
Nick: As one of the New York Nighthawks, I’ve got it all: fame, success, wealth, plus I’m handsome as hell.
As for my relationships? They could be better.
I know how to do one-night stands, but I’m starting to crave something more.
Then I meet Camille Benetti.
She’s sexy, smart, sarcastic—totally my kind of girl.
The only problem? Cami doesn’t date hockey players.
But she’s never met me. . . .
Cami: Nick George is impossible to resist. Not only is he scorching hot, he’s kind, he’s funny, and he wants me bad.
But I learned my lesson the hard way: no jocks.
So why do I agree to be Nick’s date to the wedding of the year?
One night . . . that’s our deal.
He is the best man, after all.
But Nick is crystal clear about his intentions. He wants a relationship.
And he’s tempting me to break all my rules. . . .
I wasn’t really sure how I was going to feel about this boo. This theme can go either way on the scale of good read vs. bad read, but I love the books with athletes (no idea why) so I try them when I see them. I really enjoyed this story. Nick is pretty much past the sleep around characters I hate and is ready for the long-term, a thing that made me really like him right from the start. I really liked Cami as well. I look forward to reading more from this author. I recommend.
