I love cozies and I’ve been a fan of this series since I found the first one. This is a great addition to the series and doesn’t disappoint.
The whole town of Silver Hollow is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Santa Bear, aka Mayor Bloom, during the annual Christmas parade. When he's doesn't show up, Sasha and her mom go looking for him. Unfortunately when they find him, he is no longer alive. Was it natural causes? Of something far more sinister? Sasha is determined to find the truth.
I love Christmas cozies and thought this was fun and festive. I liked Sasha, her sister Maddie, Jay, and all the rest of the townsfolk. This was the 3rd book in the series but the first I've read. Immediately after finishing, I purchased the first two books. I look forward to reading more books in this series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias.
Have Yourself a Beary Little Murder by Meg Macy is a marvelous mystery, with well-developed characters in this lovely small town.
Who killed the mayor? All we know is that is wasn't a teddy bear.
Sasha Silverman
Sasha is our main character, and it's her point of view that we follow. She is the manager of Silver Bear Shop and Factory. Sasha keeps things running with the assistance of her sister, Maddie and her family. This isn't all that Sasha does, though. She also does some sleuthing and has helped solve a couple of murders in the past. Sasha has a boyfriend named Jay, he is away most of this book teaching up north, but it sounds like things are getting serious.
The Mystery
The mayor is found dead in the Santa Bear costume right before the big parade. The townspeople scrabble and get the parade covered, but what happened to the mayor. Sasha's mom wants Sasha to prove that her friend, Allison, didn't kill her husband, the mayor. Once they start digging into the mayor's life, they find out that he isn't the jolly, good-natured guy that they all thought that he was. There are lots of suspects, and so many things are happening due to the holidays in town. The clues are there. You just have to follow them as Sasha does.
4 Stars for Have Yourself a Beary Little Murder by Meg Macy
I enjoyed the story with this sweet little town doing everything possible to celebrate the Christmas season and keep their businesses afloat. The mystery was superb; I didn't figure it out until Sasha was in the middle of it. So, I am giving Have Yourself a Beary Little Murder by Meg Macy four stars. I recommend this book to all cozy readers out there.

The small town of Silver Hollow is preparing for the Christmas season. Sasha Silverman, co-owner of her family business, the Silver Bear Shop has her hands full this holiday season. Her shop has to produce a wizard bear “Beary Potter” in time for Christmas orders and they are receiving many many orders. That’s not all that’s going on - it’s time for the annual tree-lighting and parade with the star of the show Mayor Cal Bloom as Santa Bear. Problem is, he doesn’t show up for the festivities.
Sasha, her ex, and her mother discover the Mayor’s body wearing the Santa Bear costume. At first the police think it was a heart attack, but once an investigation begins, they discover it had to be murder. Everyone loved Cal Bloom. Sasha is determined to find out who would have done such a horrible thing. It doesn’t take long for her to learn that the Mayor wasn’t as beloved as she thought and there is a long list of suspects.
This is the third book in this series. I’ve read them all and have enjoyed them very much. This one is no exception. It’s a pretty big cast of characters and many possible killers amongst them. At times I admit I had problems keeping them all straight. I was shocked at how it ended and “whodunnit”.
The mystery is contained in this book - no cliff hangers but there are mentions of previous murders. I don’t think it would throw a newcomer off, but it’s always more fun to start these series from the beginning. It’s so much better to learn about the main characters from the start. It brings you right into the story.
Sasha is a great, strong character. I’m looking forward to reading more about her romance with Jay. I love the way the author concentrates more on the mystery than the romance, which is exactly how I like my cozy mysteries.
Now I await book #4 in the series.
Meg Macy is writing about the season of goodwill, toys, competitions and murder! and it is a total page turner from start to finish.
Sasha and Maddie (and more to the point the Silver Bear Shop and Factory) have won the chance to create and make the holiday Teddy Bear, which is a limited edition make, so everyone will be working extra hard to get the usual bears done AND the "Beary Potter" Wizard Bears as well, the problems come when the staff need to take time off for two funerals, one was expected as he had been ill for a while, the second ... well that was the Mayor (who was also supposed to be playing Santa Bear) who was found electrocuted. Now Sasha is digging through the tinsel and stuffing to find out who wanted Hizzoner out of the way and why, not helped by the fact that the new Detective is being obstructive. and the fact that Maddie is working at her new job and unable to help out at the shop as needed. Add in a vindictive ex-employee, people lying .... a lot, and Sasha's boyfriend being away - can Santa re-appear in Silver Hollow?
Throughly enjoyed this well written murder mystery. Well crafted plot and characters. I look forward to reading more books in this series. Mystery fans will love this book. My thanks to the publisher for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
It's Christmastime in Silver Hollow, Michigan and Sasha Silverman is busy preparing for this year's Christmas parade when she finds herself involved in a murder investigation.
This was a fantastic murder-mystery that was stuffed full to the brim with a fabulous plot and a really good time was had along the way.
I am new to this series but loved this instalment so much that I will be going back to catch up on the previous two books. Meg Macy really did this story justice and the plot lines did not distract from the murder. I adored the festive, small-town atmosphere and the main character, Sasha and her relatives. It was interesting to learn about the factory's holiday party as well as the competition between the bear factories, though there was a very large cast of characters and I struggled occasionally to keep up with everyone. There were plenty of clues to sift through and suspects to consider that would keep even the most ardent of armchair sleuths happy!
The culprit was a surprise to me and I loved the heart-warming ending. Overall, I recommend this book without any hesitation to anyone looking for a Christmas themed cozy.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel, at my own request, from Kensington Books via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
Have Yourself a Beary Little Murder by Meg Macy is book three in the Teddy Bear Mystery series.
I read the first book in the series but not the second but was able to get current quickly.
It's Christmas in Silver Hollow and time for the Christmas parade. The mayor is to be Santa Bear but when he doesn't show up on time, Sasha, her mother, and her ex go looking for him. They find him on a bench, dead from an apparent heart attack or was it....
This story has many suspects, maybe too many, and you are guessing until the end. You also have family, humor, romance, and loveable pets.
My favorite parts of the story took place during the Christmas cookie contests, the open house at the store, and the wedding.
I was given an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review.
This is book number 3 in the Shamelessly Adorable Teddy Bear Mystery series and I admit that I never read the previous 2 books but I recommend you read the books in order. There is a large cast of characters and I did struggle because I had a hard time keeping up with all the characters.
The story is well written and I found the beginning to be slow but I forced myself to keep reading.
I give this 3 out of 5.
This started exactly how I expected, in a small town that’s obsessed with Christmas, and I loved it! I wasn’t sure who the killer was for most of the book, and I love that I didn’t figure it out right away. Some of the dialog was a little cheesy, but I didn’t mind. I enjoyed the characters and the quirky aspects of their different personalities. I would definitely recommend for a fun holiday read!
Synopsis:
This holiday season, teddy bear shop manager Sasha Silverman must solve the slaying of Santa Bear . . .
Sasha and her sister Maddie are thrilled that the Silver Bear Shop and Factory has won the Teddy Bear Keepsake Contest, which means they get to produce a holiday specialty toy, a wizard bear named "Beary Potter." Promising to be just as magical is Silver Hollow's annual tree-lighting ceremony and village parade. Only one hitch: the parade's mascot, Santa Bear--played by Mayor Cal Bloom--is missing.
After a frantic search among the floats, Bloom is found dead. When the outfit is removed, it's clear the mayor's been electrocuted. Who zapped hizzoner and then stuffed him into his Santa Bear suit? While the police investigate the grisly crime, Sasha attempts to track down the murderer herself, with some help from the Guilty Pleasures Gossip Club. Can they wrap up this case in time for Christmas--or will Sasha meet her own shocking end? (Goodreads)
Review:
The characters are well developed and well rounded. I really like Sasha, she is a hard working, tough and caring person. I like the relationship she has with her family, you can tell how much they love each other and will do anything for each other. I felt there were a lot of characters introduced and I had a hard time keeping them straight in my mind. That is only my opinion and others might not agree with me.
The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning. The author has created a setting that sounds magical and I would love to visit. Being there with all of the bear themed activities at Christmas would be great.
The mystery was well plotted and carried on well throughout the book. There were enough clues to sift through and suspects to consider, it seems that Mayor was not as well liked as he wanted everyone to think he was. I was not completely convinced who the culprit was until it was revealed at the end, which is great.
I would recommend this book, and series, to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. And if you love teddy bears, then you have to grab all three books.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Kensington Books, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.
Have Yourself a Beary Little Murder by Meg Macy is the 3rd book in the Shamelessly Adorable Teddy Bear Mystery series, and another fun book. I enjoyed the first two books in the series, Bearly Departed, and Bear Witness to Murder and this one is equally as good. Sasha Silverman is the manager of her families Silver Bear Shop and Factory, and they are all busy with the Christmas season. Mayor Cal Bloom is all set to play Santa Bear, and wear the suit in the parade. When the Mayor is missing Sasha's mother and ex husband find him dead. I really loved this book, and can't wait to continue Sasha's adventures in the next book. Not only is this book fun, it has a great mystery also. There are twists and turns around every corner. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. If you love fun Christmas cozy mysteries, I strongly recommend this book.
I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and Kensington Publishing. Thank you.
Christmas is coming and Sasha Silverman has a busy schedule to deal with. The Silver Bear Shop and Factory that she runs with her family has won the Teddy Bear Keepsake contest and with that accolade comes another project. They are creating a Christmas bear named Beary Potter and it's all hands on deck to get them made for the holiday. If that wasn't enough, the village puts on a holiday parade and tree lighting party - complete with Santa Bear. The festivities begin but there is one big problem - Santa Bear has vanished and the Santa Bear suit is being worn by the mayor. Find the Santa Bear - find the mayor - and then they find his corpse. Somebody has turned killer for the holidays.
With the help of her family and friends Sasha sets out to find out who would want the mayor dead He obviously was not loved by everyone who knew him. There are a lot of people to keep straight but I didn't find it off putting. I was happy to be spending time with the 'family' that makes up the Silver Bear Shop and Factory. Plus I have a weakness for teddy bears, all sizes and shapes. The mystery was well crafted with twists and turns and a few red herrings and I did guess wrong about the killer. After enjoying this entry I'm looking forward to book #4.
This is the 3rd in series of the "Teddy Bear Mystery Series" by beloved cozy author Meg Macy. As a love of teddies I have enjoyed this wonderful series from the beginning. The setting of a teddy bear factory is so fun and I love the descriptions of the bears. .I highly recommend this series. This is a well written Christmas themed cozy. I really liked the festive small-town atmosphere.
Thank you to Net Galley and to the Publisher for the opportunity to review this next in series. My review opinion is my own.
As we return to the world of Teddy Bear production at the Silver Bear Shop and Factory. it is Christmas time and Sasha and Maddie are thrilled that they won a "Teddy Bear Keepsake" contest. This means they have the opportunity to create a specialty Bear toy for the Christmas festivities in town for everyone to enjoy. They are preparing to enjoy the Christmas parade when everyone is concerned that the mayor is missing ! When he is found dead in his "Santa bear " suit its a grisly murder that shocks the town to its core. Sasha is determined to find out what happened and why their mayor was murdered in a such a horrific manner,. She enlists the help of her gossip club and soon Sasha and her ladies are on the case behind the scenes finding out that their beloved mayor did in fact have enemies.
This was a fun Christmas theme cozy with of course the adorable bears at the heart of the story. The author has created a lovely Christmas theme mystery in beautiful Silver Hollow Michigan with all the Christmas decor we readers enjoy. I loved all the supporting charcters and the picturesque town . A very enjoyable read. I look forward to the next in series and more from the adorable teddy bear factory and shop .
This is the 3rd installment in the Teddy Bear Mystery Series. Sasha Silverman and her sister Maddie along with all the workers at the Silver Bear Shop and Factory are in full swing as they are getting ready for the holiday season and are the makers of the “beary potter” a keepsake bear. Silver Hollow is also hosting their annual Christmas parade and no one can find the mayor and then they find him in the Santa Bear outfit on a bench dead of an apparent heart attack yet he smells of smoke. Turns out Mayor Cal Bloom was electrocuted and at first it is hard to believe as he was such a well liked man. As Sasha begins to investigate she finds many possible suspects and is shocked that Cal has some hidden secrets. This was a good solid cozy and a great addition to this series. Recommend.
I love stories around Christmas and all the activities that go along with the holiday. Now we’re adding a wedding to the mix. A simple wedding. The main characters in this story are wonderful. Folks that you would want to work with and hang out with. There are a few little twists and turns, but you’ll like them. Are Sasha and Jay going to have a chance to see where they are headed? I would very much like to visit all the small shops we read about and who wouldn’t want to visit Santa Bear? I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.
Sasha Silverman is the manager of the Silver Bear Shop & Factory, a family-owned business that is very active in the community. Their town, Silver Hollow, is hosting their annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Festival of Lights Parade, with Santa Bear as the featured attraction. Having won the Keepsake Award for their creation of the “Beary Potter Keepsake Wizard Bear,” Sasha, and her family were looking forward to the night’s festivities. That was, until Santa Bear, the star of the parade, goes missing and is discovered not far from the parade route, dead! With a suspicious death marring the celebration, Sasha, once again sets out to find information that leads to Santa Bear’s demise. Was it a heart attack or something much more sinister?
This “beary” little mystery is filled with excitement! I would love to visit Silver Hallow during the holidays when all activities have a bear-related theme. The BEAR-zarre craft show, a Teddy Bear Cookie decorating contest, and of course the Bear Factory. This is the perfect story to read as the temperatures start to dip. There were so many twists and turns with an abundance of suspects, I kept waffling back and forth between suspects. The ending was certainly a surprise as who the murderer was! Meg Macy’s storytelling at its finest! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review through Kensington Publications, and NetGalley.
Christmas Bears and Murder
This is a very good cozy mystery. The plot is very good. The culprit certainly caught me by surprise. I loved the way her small town celebrates Christmas and the family atmosphere. I plan on reading more of this author's books. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.
Sasha Silverman and the staff at the silver bear shop and factory are gearing up for the Christmas season. To kick off the holidays, the town of Silver Hollow, Michigan have a tree lighting ceremony along with a parade. The parade's mascot, Santa Bear, played by town mayor Cal Bloom seems to missing, throwing a wrench in the festive plans. A search is conducted and the mayor is found dead. After removing the costume it becomes apparent that the mayor was electrocuted. At the insistence of her mother, and against the wishes of her boyfriend as well as the new homicide detective in town, Sasha decides to conduct her own investigation. At first glance it seems a surprise someone would want to murder Cal, as he was loved by all of his constituents however as Sasha digs deeper it soon becomes clear Cal had another darker side he kept hidden from most. As Sasha wades through the numerous suspects, someone makes it clear that they do not appreciate her snooping. Will Sasha be able to find the killer before they find her?
This is the first in the Shamelessly Adorable Teddy Bear mystery series I have read, though it is the third in the series overall. I enjoyed the book however I think I would have been less overwhelmed by the extensive mix of characters if I had read the series in order. The small town holiday charm was in full effect with all the festivities going on in Silver Hollow which greatly contributed to my enjoyment. There were plenty of clues to sift through to discover the murderer and the unveiling of the culprit came as a surprise. The small family business element coupled with the holiday festivities made this a perfect book for the upcoming holiday season. I recommend this book for those looking for a new cozy mystery series.
I usually love this series but I don't think this is the best instalment.
I was happy to meet again the cast of characters and I loved the festive atmosphere but I had some issues with Sasha as her continuous references to food and weight grated on my nerves.
I think that there were too many characters and most of them very silhouette, not fleshed out.
The mystery was good and it kept me guessing.
I look forward to reading the next instalment, I suspend my judgement on this one.
Many thanks to Kensington Books and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
