I've been following the tourist trap mysteries since the beginning and love the adventures of Jill, Greg and her dog Emma. In this novella, Jill travels to Oregon on vacation with her boyfriend Greg, her dog and another couple from South Cove, Kathi and Blake. Their sand dunes adventure takes a sinister turn when they get on the radar of a local gang and realize that Kathi bares a striking resemblance to a missing local woman. Things get even more troubling when Kathi discovers the mummified body of a woman in the sand. The four need to figure out who's involved and what happened before someone else gets hurt.
I personally rarely love novellas, unless they're heavily holiday themed or based on a side character, so I wasn't blown away by this read. Normally I end up wishing they were just full length novels as they leave me wanting more. A Very Mummy Holiday had a darker tone then other cozies and the suspects were honestly really creepy, that even though you never got serious violence on the page, the build up was so unsettling that you could imagine it happening, THus, I was happy it was so short as I didn't want to spend more time with those characters.
All in all a quick read, but I'm much more looking forward to heading back to South Cove and the newest full length novel in the series.

A Very Mummy Holiday is a good cozy mystery that is well written and has great characters. A good good storyline.

‘A Very Mummy Holiday’ is an odd title for this Lynn Cahoon novella since it implies a Halloween theme yet is based around Thanksgiving with an unwrapped body found in a sand dune.

A long-needed vacation is what Jill Gardner, Greg King, and friends are looking forward to but which quickly goes astray when an overturned sand buggy literally lands on top of a buried body. There were rumors of a runaway bride and her jilted groom (or was he her killer), but there were more questions than evidence until the body showed up.

Lynn Cahoon does her best to tie all the parts of this short story together, but where some aspects are drawn out, other conclusions are leapt to without enough meat or reasonable supposition to lead the reader there naturally. Unfortunately, this is yet another holiday-themed novella that missed the mark.

It is the week of Thanksgiving and Jill and Greg are vacationing with friends, Kathi and Blake, on the coast of Oregon. Jill owns a fun shop, Coffee, Books, and More, in South Cove, California while Kathi owns a tea shop across the street and Greg is the Chief of Police. Blake is in a band and is on break. The rental cabin where they are staying is in an area where they are able to go on trails with recreational vehicles and on sand dunes and enjoy lots of wildlife and scenery. It should be fun and is until they discover a body in the dunes-a young woman who went missing right before her wedding to a local guy, Caleb, whose parents own the rental cabin. Caleb is suspected by the locals to have killed her but Jill and Greg don't think that he did it. They are pulled into helping local law enforcement find the real killer, just in time for turkey day when they are joined by Jill's Aunt Jackie, her boyfriend, Harrold, friends, Amy and Justin. This a fun addition to the series with a change of scenery from South Cove but with some of the great regular characters and a mystery to solve.
I received a complimentary ARC from Lyrical Underground and Kensington Books through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

I loved this little mystery. It had an interesting premise, and the ending was satisfying. Although, I wish there was a better reason why the culprit committed murder.

Entertaining Murder Mystery Novella
This is a very short novella; less than 100 pages including the recipes. This is a good story with a good plot. It has as much fun interaction between the main characters as it does investigating the crime. The ending is not a great surprise, but it is all tied up fairly nicely. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.

Fun little cozy. This is very short and can be read in a couple of hours. Jill and Greg go on a vacation with some friends to the Oregon Coast. While out on the sand dunes, they discover mummified remains. The police have a suspect in their sights, but Jill and Greg do not agree.

This is easy to ready and a nice escape. The story moves along and has a few twists. I enjoy Lynn Cahoon's writing style and her characters.

Jill has taken some time off from her shop to spend Thanksgiving with some family and friends. They have rented a cabin and hope to enjoy a much needed getaway in a secluded area. The weather is nice and riding amongst the sand dunes is just one of the many things the group plans to do. All is going well until while out riding a member of the group gets stuck in a dune and ends up finding a well preserved mummy. Who could it be and how long have they been there are the immediate questions that everyone asks. They soon learn that the body is the fiancee of the son of the people that own the cabin being rented by them. She disappeared years ago and most people felt the fiancee was responsible but no clues were found so she has remained a missing persons case. Jill gets a sense that the fiancee is innocent and hopes to dip up clues to who the real culprit is. Follow along as she and her boyfriend is into the case , can they find a.killer before something happens to one of their own group? This was a great read with an exciting mystery. I love these short reads that help you keep in touch with favored characters while the author works on a longer read!

It is fall, and therefore my favorite time to settle in to read holiday themed cozy mysteries. In book number eleven of the Tourist Trap Mystery series, Jill is off with her friends on a Thanksgiving holiday. They soon discover things are not going to be what they expected when the home they have rented has some interesting history.

A Tourist Trap Novella - This is great if you're looking for a very quick read. Jill Gardner, normally the owner of Coffee, Books, and More is spending a long Thanksgiving weekend on the coast of Oregon with her boyfriend Greg, and their friends Blake and Kathi. The weekend has barely started and Kathi has found a dead body in the dunes. Perhaps the body of a woman who disappeared years ago, it throws suspicion on that woman's partner. Greg, a police officer, and Jill are determined to make sure the sheriff explores all avenues before arresting the wrong person.

This is the 11th book in the series. I've read some but not all. However, this is fine as a stand-alone. Perfect for a short Thanksgiving story.

This is a novella in the Tourist Trap mystery series by Lynn Cahoon. She numbers her books in order no matter if it is novella or novel. This is book ten in the series.

I was really hoping this was going to be a full novel. No such luck. I am not certain when the next full length story will surface. I am still waiting patiently. Thank goodness for these novellas! They make the wait not so trying.

This book features Jill Gardner and her cop boyfriend, Greg along with some newer characters from the previous few books. They are not ones you may easily remember so maybe go back and check out the last few books to brush up on the backstory if you need to. They are on vacation with this couple. Jill is trying to make friends but would rather stay in her hidey-hole and read. Greg forces her to get out and socialize. During one of their outings, they stumble across a dead body in the sand after a rather nasty storm had shifted the ground revealing the body of a woman.

I wish this book had been a bit longer. I really felt like this needed a bit more development. I was just starting to get into the story and then it was over. I never really had a handle on who some of the main characters were from the area where they were vacationing. Sometimes I really need that backstory in my mind to understand all the motivations and who might have wanted the person dead.

This is still one of my favorite cozy mystery series! I will always pick up a new title no matter if it is novella or novel. I just can’t get enough! I hope Jill is back in her normal setting at Coffee, Books and More in the next installment. I am missing my South Cove regulars!

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

It’s Thanksgiving week and Jill and Greg with their friends Kathi and Blake are on a mini vacation to the Oregon Coast. Their plans to ride the dunes and relax before the rest of their friends arrive before the big day, is horribly interrupted when they find a body buried in the sand. This Tourist Trap novella offers several suspects and is a quick, entertaining read. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an arc of this book. The comments and review are my own opinion.

This Novella takes place just before Thanksgiving, Jill and Greg, and of course Emma, go to the Oregon coast with friends to ride the dunes and just have a fun Thanksgiving. But of course a body is found, Jill and Greg get involved in the investigation.

I have enjoyed every book in the Tourist Trap series, I love these characters and I wish I could go and visit a place just like this, minus the dead bodies. I highly recommend this series, start with the first book Guidebook to Murder and get to know South Cove, California.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Kensington Books, Lyrical Underground for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I’m always on the lookout for Lynn Cahoon books and also the novellas in between.
They are fun, and entertaining .
Jill and Greg rent a cabin for Thanksgiving with friends, while they are riding out over the sand dunes, they stumble on a mummified body.
A clever and entertaining mystery to solve especially as the sheriff thinks he has his suspect already .
Thanks to Kensington and NetGalley for advance copy for my honest review.

Our lovely protagonist has left her small town in California behind. Her Thanksgiving vacation is marred or enlivened by a dead body. A fun holiday made more interesting for all. While the culprit may seem obvious, it is a delight to get to the final conclusion. A nice novella for a quick visit with some favorite characters.

I have finally adjusted to the tempo of Lynn Cahoon's novellas. While I still prefer her longer length Tourist Trap offerings 'A Very Mummy Holiday' was excellent. Jill and Greg are off to spend Thanksgiving in a cabin on the Oregon coast and discover a mummified body buried in sand dunes. Even though it was short it was completely satisfying in the plot and the resolution. All of the characters were engaging and I appreciated getting to know some of them further. I highly recommend this quick cozy for an enjoyable read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

A Very Mummy Holiday is a new Tourist Trap Mystery. Lynn Cahoon is my go-to author for cozy mysteries and she doesn't disappoint with this Thanksgiving edition. Jill and Greg can't seem to get away from solving crimes even while out of town. It's a fast-paced story with new interesting characters and old familiar ones. Perfect for fans of Hallmark Mysteries and Movies.

A great plot involving Jill and Greg as they head off on a Thanksgiving vacation with some friends, but what starts out as a fun and relaxing trip turns sinister when one of the friends discovers a mummified hand with a big diamond engagement ring on it. To make matters worse a local group of guys starts making things uncomfortable for the vacationing group. This series has excellent characters with engaging personalities that draw you in and keep you wanting more time with them. Add that to great plotting and you have a wonderfully entertaining read that will keep you turning pages furiously as you can't wait to see what happens next. If you haven't read the entire series, you absolutely should. I can't wait for the next full length story in this series to come out as the novellas have been fun to read, but I am ready to be able to spend more time with these characters!

A Very Mummy Holiday is the 11th book in Lynn Cahoon's Tourist Trap series and a novella. This is a very quick read and I was able to finish it in a few hours, making this a great option for reading in the car or on a plane or simply when time is limited. Ms. Cahoon follows her successful formula in this novella, bringing together Jill and Greg with Kathy and Blake for a pre-Thanksgiving glamping vacation at a beachside cabin complex in Oregon. The owners and their son Caleb live in the other two homes. Caleb is a grizzled and depressed young man who's been mourning the disappearance of his fiancee and the shroud of suspicion that's been hanging over his head ever since. Determined not to let the gloom get them down, the couples head out dune buggying and run into a buggy gang that gives them pause and the jitters. Of course there's a mystery to solve, but given the short and quick pace of this novella I don't want to give too much away. The author finally moves Jill and Greg's relationship along in cozy, subtle way and the introduction of a new couple bodes well for the series, too. Well done, Ms. Cahoon!
