I have actually known families like this, both straight and gay families, where both parents offer different kinds of supports to the children. In this book, which is cute with simple language, the little boy is explaining which of his moms helps with different situations. While they have different skills, both of them provide the emotional support and love he needs.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
This is a beautiful book featuring a conversation between children about what it's like to have two mommies. As the children play, one asks the other questions about having two mommies. The rhyming pages are sweet and playful, with lovely pictures to go with it. This is a great book for any family.
Five stars.
I really loved this book, just as much, if not more than 'A Tale of Two Daddies',
This series of books are really too sweet to be real. They make me tear up. I had family that were never supportive of my sexuality or even my gender. I would have loved to have two mothers.
This is a great book for any library or playroom. Young kids will love the cute, bright art and they'd love it even more if someone read it to them with just as much excitement, I felt reading it, myself.
Not much else to say except, buy this book, it's worth it.
it gives you a sense of comfort and also makes you feel nostalgic for (tale of) summer. you can fall in love with the colors of the illustrations.
Cute little story, definitely a fun read.
I came across the book, loved the adorable cover and said: "why not?". Its just 40 colorful pages, containing mostly conversation betweens kids on beach. The feeling is like coming from daily life with pov of pure kids. I can picture the boy having happy life with his two mommies. Full of love and caring no matter what. Hope that there will be more lovely story like this in the future.
I’m so glad there is authors who are writing about this important subject, this book was so well writing and touching, I’m sure is going to help a lot of kids! I will definitely recommend not only for kids with two moms but for every kid.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy.
To put it very simply, this is a short story about three kids playing, only one of them has two mommies and as it is to be expected, the other two kids have questions. So they ask their friend about what role each mother plays in his life. Like for example, which mother bakes him cookies, which mother reads him stories, which mother takes him to school etc.
To me, this isn't a groundbreaking story about LGBTQ people, it's just a sweet story that involves LGBTQ people. But to a child that may read this, this may actually prove to be groundbreaking. Because in the end of the day, what it matters, is not the gender of the people that raised you, but the way they raised you and their love for you. And it just goes on to show, that same sex couples, are basically no different from the straight ones.
Really beautiful & Great illustrations!
Good story!!
Thank you for providing me with the eARC
Sweet, cute and adorable and so so important.
This book is the simplest way to put how it wouldn't matter if a kid has two mommies or two daddies instead of one daddy and one mommy. The child can still grow in a healthy, nurturing environment if all they receive is care and love. It is not necessary for children to have parents from both genders and I wholeheartedly agree.
Thank you Netgalley and Vanita Oelschlager for the ARC.
Pretty similar to The Tale Of Two Daddies, which I also enjoyed. I'm always looking for more queer rep books to read with my daughter.
I like the style of this, posed as just a regular conversation between children who are asking questions to understand how the world works.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing the ARC of this book. These are my honest thoughts.
I love the premise of this book! I am so happy to see not only is this book LGBT supportive but also racial diverse. This is a very critical component in our society right now. Provide this education while they are young.
First off, I think this should be a must-read for every child whether they have heterosexual parents or same-sex parents.
I just loved everything about it!! The message that not all families are the same and that's ok is definitely a message needed for today. Not all children understand why some kids have two mommies or two daddies, so this easy-to-understand book will answer those questions.
I simply LOVED this book !
How simple it is written and do the job so well !
I think every school, library and every place kids are shoulds have this book !
I loved this little book! Not all families are the same and that is perfectly fine.
This book is set up as a conversation between 3 children as they talk about how the one little boy has two mummies.
This is a great book for same sex parent families as well as a conversation starter for traditional families as well. It teaches our Littles that families are made up differently and that is not only okay but beautiful.
As always, thank you to the publisher and netgalley for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review
An adorable book with a story to share with kids that highlight two mom families. I like that the perspective is from kids asking each other questions - which is likely what will come up in a kids' everyday life. Fun prose with lots of rhyming.
Didn't love that both mom's were white/thin/femme, but I suppose it is likely representative of some families.
This is such an important book, I’m so glad there is authors who are writing about this important subject, this book was so well writing and touching, I’m sure is going to help a lot of kids!
I will definitely recommend not only for kids with two moms but for every kid out there
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy
A Tale of Two Mommies introduces us to a little boy who has two moms. It shows that, just like a child with a mom and dad, both parents often take different roles, but also often share roles, in their child's life. In a world where more families than ever before don't fit the "traditional" picture, this is an awesome reminder that every child that has two loving parents is extra lucky!
This is a great book for all libraries and schools to broaden kids' horizons!
[Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this eARC in exchange for my honest review on the book!]
As a member of the LGBTQIAP+ community, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for The Tale of Two Mommies and Daddies book. This book beautifully portrays the loving and caring nature of all parents, regardless of their gender. Vanita Oelschlager has done an exceptional job in emphasizing that parents, regardless of their gender, can be there for their children unconditionally.
I also want to extend my appreciation to NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy of this book, allowing me the opportunity to experience its heartfelt message before its official release.
Overall, The Tale of Two Mommies and Daddies is an important and inclusive book that not only celebrates diverse family structures but also reinforces the idea that love knows no boundaries. It is a much-needed addition to children's literature and a valuable resource for teaching young readers about the beauty of all types of families.
'A Tale of Two Mommies' is a cute story that subtly addresses gender roles in society and introducing the deconstruction of that idea to kids. And it showed that not everything has to be so plainly divisive, that both parents can fulfill the same role in some areas and that they are teaching their child confidence and independence ("I empty my own pockets at the end of the day.") It ended a bit abruptly in my opinion with no real indicator that the next page was endpages, but it was such a sweet story with an important message hidden between the words. I thought the scene with the kids underwater saying 'glub glub glub' and then "translated" was really cute!
This book was cute, I liked the interaction between all the children here. It felt like a nice exploration in curiosity about LGBTQIA families.
