I stumbled upon All I Want in Netgalley. Since the blurb intrigued me, I decided to request both part 1 and 2 of the Paradise Beach series .
And I'm definitely not sorry! All I know is a wonderful story of Kate Cooper, who put her
life on hold to help out her sick mother. Due to the cancer treatments, she is not able to work at her Tikibar at Paradise Beach. So Kate cancels her trip to Europe (where she was supposed to be treated for her own illness) and takes on the job of bartender slash owner.
To her surprise , one night her high school crush Damien sits at her bar. As a military consultant and ex marine, Damien isn't often back in Paradise Beach. In three months he will leave for another assignment in Syria for a year. So he has got a small time window to finally find the courage to ask Kate on a date . He secretly has had
a crush on her, but was afraid to ask her out.
When he learns that Kate has a problem with her health insurance and that she currently can't afford to be treated he offers her an option: to marry him before he leaves for Syria. That way she can be insured via Damien. Nobody has to know. But while preparing for their marriage, they both start to realize that maybe
the marriage means more to them then just the piece of paper.
Will they pretend to go through?
Find out for yourself in this cute and funny read. Five out of the stars from me and a special thank you
to Netgalley for providing the arc .
All I know is the prequel book in Tamara Lush's new series called Paradise Beach. First let me say that this is a new author to me, and boy have I've been missing out on her books. I thought this was a nice, light and easy, second chance story. I liked Kate and Damien, they had good chemistry. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received this book from Netgalley
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley!!
This was my first book by Tamara Lush, and my goodness, I loved it!! Kate and Damien are serious relationship goals.
This book had everything I look for. A great storyline. Great characters. Easy to follow. I can't wait to read more by her!
Kate came home to Paradise Beach to run the tiki bar and help her mother out while she's recuperating from a double mastectomy. Damien's home on a three month leave from the military. Kate and Danien had crushes on each other in high school but never acted on it orher than sharing a kiss one night at a party.
Damien finds out Kate is also in Paradise Beach and visits the bar to see her, where all the old feelings come to life again. After dating for a few weeks, Kate lets it slip about her medical problem and that she has no health insurance since returning to help her mother. Damien decides they should get married so she has the insurance she needs and would be covered if anything happens to him when he returns to his post.
This is a fun, easy, enjoyable read.
I am so in love with this entire series. I’ve been binge reading Paradise Beach the last couple days and cant get enough. I’ve been reading the books in reverse, and I completely fell head over heels in love with All I Know. Damien is pretty much my dream man in a book. Kate and Damien have to be my favorite couple from the series and I can’t wait for for the second book in their love story. Tamara Lush has easily become on of my favorite new romance authors.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for gifting me with this copy.
All I Know by new to me author Tamara Lush, is a fun read with realistic characters. It takes place in Paradise Beach, an island off the coast of Florida. I love the tropical ambience and how important family is to both of the main characters. Although this is the first book from the Paradise Beach series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone.
Kate Cooper is a graphic designer by trade. When her mother is diagnosed with breast cancer, she leaves the Windy City to look after her and run the family's tiki bar. Kate is also not in the greatest of health. She has high cholesterol and controls it with blood dialysis, diet, exercise and a very expensive medication. It is Kate and her mom against the sometimes ugly world.
Damien Hastings is a military contractor and he is home for the next few months before he spends a dangerous year in Syria. His family is down to earth, even though they are quite well off. He is an amazing guy and helping others is his true calling. Damien and Kate shared a heated kiss back in high school, and they both have enjoyed it over and over again in their minds since then. They rekindle their respective crushes from the past, yet have a hard time saying the "L" word to each other. Kate and Damien are great together and their chemistry is heart-warming and hot.
I really liked this slightly emotional, nicely-paced romantic read. The characters are well defined and engaging. Chunky, Damien's brother's dog, has some funny moments. I grew so found of the characters that I already started the next book in the series.
Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.
4 Second Chance Stars
All I know by Tamara Lush is the first in the Paradise Beach series. Damien and Kate have a second chance at love, after a near miss in high school. I enjoyed watching Kate & Damien rekindle their attraction to each other. I loved the secondary characters which to me makes a book great.
What starts out as a fake engagement, may just lead to true love. A lovely story of taking a chance and leaping into faith. The chemistry between these two starts right from the start and couldn't get enough of the two. This is a short sweet, hot, low angst, and perfect for a pick me up summer read. This was my first read from this author and will not be the last!! I'm looking forward to reading the second in this series.
I was given this book by net galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is the first book in a series but also could be read as a standalone.
The story takes place in a small Florida town and is the story of Damien and Kate.
They met in high school, but after ugly rumors were so spread about them the relationship never took off. Years later they’re reunited and it’s instant chemistry. While I definitely liked the romance between these two, I felt like the author tried to wrap everything up in a neat little box.
It felt very rushed, and I think it could have been longer with more meat in the story.
Second Chance to Love Again. 3.5 Stars
This is the first book in the Paradise Beach series, and the story of Damien, and Kate. Kate is a struggling bartender, trying to keep her Mom's bar running while trying to maintain her own health, without any medical insurance. Damien is Kate's first love, and when Damien show up in Kate's bar, the spark fly, and Damien isn't going to let Kate get away this time. This was a sweet story, romantic, passionate, intense, steamy, and entertaining. 3.5 Stars
All I Know is a great beach read. It got me hooked quickly and was fast paced. That said I think the ending was a bit too fast - I wanted to know more after the last scene. Still a great book and I'm looking forward to book 2 and also having these two characters show up in future books! Thanks to Net Galley for the chance to review.
Kate Cooper is running her sick mom's tiki bar in Florida while also struggling to find her footing with her own career and trying to find health insurance for her medical condition. So, when her former high school crush turns up at the bar on leave from his dangerous job as a military contractor, she doesn't really have time for one more thing on her plate. But Damien is too hard to resist, especially since he's been waiting for ten years to finally make Kate realize how much he's always wanted her.
Their fling has an expiration date, until Damien proposes Kate become his wife for his insurance.
I loved the concept of this romance but the story arc didn't exactly work for me. The big conflict was Damien leaving and Kate needing insurance came very close to the end, and then resolved very quickly. We are also left just moments after the wedding not knowing how they as a newly married couple would handle Damien being deployed for a year.
That said I am intrigued to read more by this writer.
I received a free copy in exchange for a fair review.
Sweet romance with lots of chemistry, fast paced read and a great start to this new series. Each is a standalone so there are no worries that you’ll be missing out on anything. A nice second chance story.
I really enjoyed Kate and Damian’s story. This was a first for me by this author. They started out when they were young then due to unfortunate issues Kate leaves. Fast forward 10 years. I really enjoyed this story kind of like a second chance theme. Great read with lots of steam!!
I first read Tamara Lush’s Tell Me a Story and then went on to read the Burning Secrets series. Both these works endeared me to the author and her easy writing style, and the combination of sizzling romance, intrigue and suspense made the prospect of further books exciting. Unfortunately, the beginning of the Paradise Beach series left me cold. I obviously had set my expectations to high and was disappointed with the immature and juvenile characterisations of the main couple and their teenage type of dialogue. The blurb describes the story as hilarious, but except for one scene with an adorable overweight pug, I didn't feel it.
For a seasoned marine, having served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and now employed as a military contractor, Damien lacked fortitude. And considering the difficulty of Kate’s life; fleeing teenage ridicule, struggling with an inherited health affliction, and her mother’s fight with cancer, Kate was flighty and immature. While it’s understandable that they would have wanted something fun and light to enjoy, as they both harboured unspoken feelings for each other, I expected the conversations between Damien and Kate to contain more depth.
I struggled with this story and pushed to finish as I wanted to be fair in my determination as to whether I would continue the series. The support cast was good, and the ending cast a bit more interest on Damien’s brothers, so I hope that the next book has more credible characters.
There were a number of things that I liked about this book. The cover, obviously is beautiful and draws you in, the premise of reuniting with a high school crush, the hero being an ex-marine and all the numerous secondary characters which promise lots of stories to come.
Unfortunately, there were also a lots of things that I didn’t like about the book. These are two people who were attracted to one another in high school and due to a vicious rumour had to part ways. They haven’t seen each other for a decade. Even though they’re both from the same small town they haven’t been able to run into each other or haven’t gone into any effort to reconnect. And then Damien walks into the bar owned by Kate’s mother and they instantly reconnect. I felt like the dialogue didn’t reflect the age of the characters. They are both 28 years olds and sounded more like what I imagine their high school selves would sound like. Even though Kate claims that she has a serious health condition, I really didn’t get the sense that she was being cautious with her health. The only think that she really seemed to care about was her health insurance. The love scenes also felt formulated and lacked heat or passion. All in all, I felt like the story was rushed and felt more like the outline of the book rather than the book itself.
I’m really really hoping that the next book will be better and that it will help to connect with the characters.
Didn't love it, didn't hate it. the story line was okay, but I found it a bit choppy in places things were mentioned but not expanded on, which after reading the authors note at the end I am assuming is due to the rest of the books in the series being interconnected.
A decent start, and a good way to introduce you to a new authors work.
All I Know is a steamy, entertaining start to the Paradise Beach series. A second chance at love, Damien & Kate are well suited, and this short story was well delivered. I would recommend you pick it up as I will be looking to read more.
This is an amazing start to a new series. I was hooked from the first sentence that had me laughing. I love Damien and Kate. Their romance is sweet and I am looking forward to seeing more of them. Their second book can't come soon enough. In the meantime I can't wait for the other characters stories. This little community draws you in. This is my first book by the author and it won't be my last.
Actually a lovely book!
Damien and Kate both had a crush on each other at high school but due to circumstances it never went anywhere. But now they are both back in their hometown the attraction is obvious. Damien offers marriage so Kate can have health insurance, but both soon feel this fake relationship is everything but fake! Told from alternating POV’s the story was entertaining and easy to read. No major drama.
The next book is about older brother Max, as the story is partly interwoven at the same timeline.
In many ways, this is a very American story, I'm not sure that it could take place anywhere else. Not because of the characters so much, but the things that happen to them. Firstly our two main characters Kate and Damien have known each other (and been in love with each other since high school). After rumours and gossip that more than a kiss happened between them back then, Kate kept her distance, leaving for college and Nate joined the marines. I can't imagine anything like this happening back when I was at school, of course, there were rumours and of far worse than this, but no one would have cared.
The other thing that makes this a very American story is that after getting together, Kate and Damien decide to get married as she is sick and doesn't have health insurance and can't afford her medicine. I'm not going to make a comment on the politics of this, but I think it's fair to say 'only in America.'
The romance is quite sweet, although there's certainly plenty of chemistry there, Kate and Damien don't fall into bed together the instant that they get together. Instead, they actually go out together and do things before getting there. In fact, other than the getting married so quickly, this is quite a believable romance. They are reluctant to admit to each other how they feel, but I think that just adds to it. This is quite a sweet story and they clearly really care for one another.
What I really liked about this is that although there is a happily ever after here, there's still room for plenty more to come and I believe that they are going to get another story further in this series.
I really enjoyed this book and it made me keen to read more in the Paradise Beach series, probably a good thing as I have book 2 ready to go soon.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
