How would you respond in the face of tragedy and senseless loss? This novel explores the complexities of grief, family, love, and loyalty. Well written, it's an emotionally compelling no-holds-barred account of one family's monumental sorrow as their lives intersect with a woman living as a ghost after surviving her own trauma, and the hope they all share despite their losses. Well written and heartbreaking, the author asks questions and confronts aspects of life none of us would ever choose to face.

I received a complimentary copy of this title via NetGalley a long long time ago. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

The start of this book was so hard to read, and then it felt like a nice easy read book. Right up until 3/4 of the way through and bam! It throws things at you, you wouldn't even think of!

I'm so glad I read this book (after a few tears and having to put it down after each chapter to start because it had my emotions running high!) I've really enjoyed it.

Great read <3

A beautiful, emotional book. A sensitive study of grief, and a family’s struggle to come to terms with a sudden death. Kate Hewitt writes beautifully - I remember her from her early Mills and Boons which are some of my favourites. This author gets better and better.

Nathan and his wife Laura live a happy life with their 3 daughters - until one day Laura is shot and killed on the subway. This leaves Nathan reeling - at a loss as to how to help his family cope with the loss and continue life without Laura. Laura's friend Maria ends up trying to help be there for the family, especially the 3 daughters. She also provides Nathan with Laura's viewpoint regarding their marriage - which often doesn't fit with what Nathan saw in their marriage. The story revolves overwhelmingly around grief and coping and moving on from the death of a loved one.
This was a heart-breaker for me - the type of book that I put down at night but then dreamed about similar things happening to my own family! It was moving and poignant. I enjoyed it, but definitely burned through a lot of tissues!
Thanks to Kate Hewitt, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

Wow what a great read again from Kate Hewitt When Nathan's wife Laura is shot and killed life changes forever for him and his three daughters Not even knowing what she had been doing in that area and that she had been doing voluntary work he has to come to terms with his loss and try to look after his family while wanting answers as to why this happened When he meets Maria a colleague of Laura's he gets her to help with the children but as her story of her previous life in Bosnia is finally revealed the story is heartbreaking and what happened on that fateful day when his wife was killed changes lives forever A 5 🌟read

Nathan’s world falls apart when his wife is shot on the subway. He realises that he has spent too much time working and not enough with his family and now it is too late. He finds out his wife was volunteering at a refugee centre and goes there to find out more. He meets Maria, a Bosniak immigrant who had befriended Laura.
No Time to Say Goodbye is a beautifully written and poignant book about love and loss. I am ashamed to admit that I know little about the civil wars that affected the area but Maria’s experiences are raw and heartbreaking.
The emotional complexities of grief for Maria, Nathan and his daughters are explored in a thoughtful and sensitive way. Nathan’s realisation that his relationship with his wife Laura was not as close as he believed is devastating to him and a reminder to us all that we shouldn’t take love for granted.
Life can change in a heart beat and there is no time to say goodbye to the past but we must adapt and cope with life’s challenges any way we can.

I love Kate Hewitt novels. Her books always make me cry. I didn’t find this one quite as sad as the previous two I’ve read by her though. This book begins with a workaholic husband, Nathan, finding out his wife was murdered on the subway. He had to find a way to tell their three daughters that their mom isn’t coming home. That was sad but didn’t bring me to do the ugly cry.

What I liked: I enjoyed the alternating voices between Nathan and Maria. Maria was a friend of Laura’s and worked with her just before she died. I found Maria’s chapters to be more engrossing and liked her character. I liked the mystery of who killed Laura. Lastly, I enjoyed the last half of the book more. There was more character growth and everything wrapped up nicely although not a happily ever ending type story.

What I didn’t like as well: I would’ve liked one of the girls to have been a voice in the story, particularly Alexa. I just didn’t care for Nathan’s chapters. Found them to be drawn out and have a repetitive feeling.

Overall, it was a good story but not my favorite Kate Hewitt. I would recommend especially if you are a Hewitt fan or like to read family drama with a little mystery involved.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC!

What do you do when the worst possible thing happens? In this story Nathan and Maria are both working through their own very different trauma's but find themselves in a place of working through them together. I really liked this story and how it was told from the both of their viewpoints. Very relatable and well-told.

Nathan, Laura and their three daughters are the perfect family but their world is torn apart when Laura is shot dead. Nathan is left bereft and struggling to cope with the aftermath. He learns that Laura was a volunteer at a refuge centre without him and the girls knowing and he starts to question whether he really knew his wife at all. On visiting the refuge he meets Maria, who was originally from Bosnia and who was a friend of Laura’s. He decides that she would be an ideal nanny for the girls but as the story unfolds we find that Maria has a secret past of her own that could be connected to Laura’s death. This is a heartbreaking story of how Nathan and the girls cope with the loss of Laura, with chapters told in the past and present by Nathan and Maria. It covers the grief and pain of death, the healing process and also the horrors and suffering of war. A very emotional read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Another brilliant read by Kate Hewitt. No Time to Say Goodbye is the heart wrenching story about the death of Laura, a wife and mother of three who is suddenly shot on a subway. Her husband Nathan is left to pick up the pieces with 3 young girls, clueless as to why this happened. He starts to question if he even knew his wife at all.. He befriends Maria, his wife's friend a colleague at a refuge centre who helps Nathan care for the girls. Soon it becomes clear that Maria has secrets she wants to keep from Nathan. The book focuses on grief, loss and moving on. It also has drama and intrigue interwoven. A really good book. Thank you Bookouture.
