The story of Maria and Laura is sad. They only know each other through the global rescue centre where they both hope to make a difference to refugees who need help.
But Laura is shot on the underground, and her family cannot understand why she was shot.
We then come to the story of Maria, and find out about her life and where she comes from.
Thanks net galley for allowing me to read this book before publication day.
I enjoyed it very much, and felt so sorry for Laura’s family and also for Maria.

Nathan is at work when the police visit. In that instance his world crashes down. Laura, his wife is gone. Shot dead on the subway. Her death leaves Nathan and their three daughters , Alexa, Ella and Ruby reeling.
Nathan has always been the provider. Distanced from his daughters due to the long hours he worked. Laura was the stay at home mum. She's the one who looked after the girls. Fed, clothed, sorted the homework and activities.
Following Laura's death, Nathan must come to terms with the grief that they all have. Also, why was Laura on the subway?
After Laura's death Maria Dzino comes into the family's life. She knew Laura from Global Rescue. A place where refugees go for help and support and where Laura volunteered.
But what is Maria's connection and does she have any involvement in Laura's death.

This is a brutally honest book about dealing with grief. Told from the perspective of a man. An emotional read but certainly not depressing. Well done Kate Hewitt on a beautiful well written book.

Such a heartbreaking book, but still I enjoyed reading it. It makes you realise that life can change in an instant. So many heartfelt emotions, which the author made good work in describing them.

An incredible read, so much emotion involved. This book broke my heart and had me tearing up so frequently and yet smiling at the hope through the darkness. It covers some very tough subjects in such a beautiful yet painful way.

Laura is shot dead on the underground. Husband Nathan was always an absent father, busy at work. He now has to come to terms with notmonly his own, but his three little girls grief. An emotional read.

Laura is murdered on the subway leaving behind her husband and three daughters. This story follows their healing process. How can you heal from losing someone? A fellow volunteer at the agency Laura volunteered at is sought out by Nathan, Laura’s husband, as he tries to understand his wife’s last days. She becomes a valuable part of the family helping deal with the grief. However she has her own past to deal with.

I enjoyed this book and trying to guess what was going to happen next.

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘No Time To Say Goodbye’ by Kate Hewitt in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Laura is on the subway after teaching English at the Global Rescue Refugee Centre when a man comes up to her and shoots her in the head. Without his wife Laura Nathan’s life feels empty and pointless but he still has their three girls Alexa, Ella and Ruby to care for and together they work through their grief. Nathan isn’t aware that Laura volunteered at the Centre and when he’s introduced to Maria, Laura’s friend and fellow-volunteer, he hopes to learn more about the wife he thought he knew. He asks Maria to be the girls’ Nanny and she loves being with the family but Laura isn’t the only one with a secret as Maria has history that could change how Nathan thinks of her.

Kate Hewitt has given us another beautifully written novel which is so moving I was in tears, especially when Maria tells Nathan about her brutal childhood in Sarajevo, and when Ella is distraught as she’d wanted to come first in the swimming race especially for her Mum. I loved every single character, Nathan who gradually learns to put his children’s needs first before work, Ruby, Ella and Alexa who are in their own way struggling to come to terms with the loss of their Mum, and Maria, an amazing woman who deserves a happy ending. The story covers not only death but the grief and pain arising from it, as well as the horror of war and those who suffer. Congratulations to Kate Hewitt for giving us a wonderful novel that she’s written with great compassion and sensitivity. It will stay in my thoughts for a long time.

This is a well written novel about the experience of grief
This book pulled at my heartstrings
My only negative comment would be about the cover. The cover didn’t match the story.

I was given an advance copy to read in exchange for and honest review.

This is a story about a woman who is killed and the many lives and pieces it takes to put things back together. Nathan is now a single father of 3 struggling to come to terms with the sudden death of his wife. Why was she volunteering with an organization he knew nothing about? Was she unhappy in their life together that she needed something else? Each of the girls have unique issues with the death of their mom. Did she know they loved her? Will she be proud of me? Who will read me my stories. Maria volunteered with Laura and Nathan seeks her out to try to learn more about what she was doing before her death. Maria see the pain and grief in Nathan, and she is drawn to help him. Grief is grief you can recognize it in another person who has experienced great loss. Will MARIA be able to help Nathan with his grief? Will the girls be able to find hope for tomorrow without their mother?

This was a intense story that made you understand their pain.

A reversal of the usual story where the wife finds out her husband had a secret life. This time it's the husband who is shocked to hear about secrets his wife was keeping. But not only his wife is keeping secrets, as the woman who becomes close to the family is hiding from her past. A moving and heartbreaking story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for an advanced copy of "No Time to Say Goodbye" by Kate Hewitt in exchange for an honest review.

"No Time to Say Goodbye" by Kate Hewitt is a story that evoked many emotions: heartbreak, anger, annoyance, hope, and more.

This blurb pulled me into the story: "It hit me, the reality of it, in a way it hadn’t before like a sledgehammer straight to the chest. Laura was gone. She was never coming back. I’d never see her again; she’d never hum in the kitchen, she’d never pull Ruby onto her lap and tickle her tummy as she buried her face in the sweet curve of our daughter’s shoulder."

I gave this story four stars, it would have been 5 but I disliked the ending and rationale of how/why Laura was killed.

A book has never had me cry so much through heartbreak and devastation. This author nailed it without a doubt. Highly recommend this author who wrote it beautifully.

I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I normally enjoy books by this author but this one seemed like it was written by someone else. Basically a man becomes a widow after his wife is shot on subway and he finds out that she had been volunteering in a bad part of town where she normally would never go. I just found it boring.

Oh wow! This book just hit me and took me on this incredible journey of love, hate, passion, fear and more.
I closed my eyes many times not wanting to open them to find out what happens; but like a kid; I peeked and then I continued.
Nathan’s life is turned upside down when his wife Laura is killed. He has to struggle on with his three girls as best as he can whilst dealing with his grief.
Enter Maria. She is a lifesaver to the family but holds many secrets.
You must read this book. An absolute gem!

This book had so much truth and emotion running through it, I actually wondered if the author had dealt with a traumatic loss like the one that happens at the beginning of the book. The turmoil and anguish the family feels... I felt it too. The story was told in such a way that my heart just broke chapter after chapter. I thought the characters were very well written and I did appreciate learning a bit more about Laura's killer, even if the ending felt a bit rushed.

No Time to Say Goodbye by Kate Hewitt is the heartbreaking story of one family's struggle to cope with unimaginable loss after a seemingly random act of violence, As we focus on the family in the aftermath of the tragedy, one question continues to loom large. Who killed Laura West?

Nathan West is devastated to learn that his wife Laura has been shot to death while riding the New York City subway. When it transpires that Laura had been volunteering at Global Rescue, a charity that works to assist immigrants and refugees, Nathan is shocked to realize that he knew nothing of this part of his wife's life. When he meets Maria at the funeral, he knows that he must reach out to this woman who had found a connection with his wife while working at the charity, in a desperate search for answers.

Maria, who has herself escaped the atrocities of the Bosnian genocide, becomes a touchstone for the family, a fragile link to the wife and mother who has been tragically lost. But Maria is not without dark secrets from her past, and may know more about Laura's death than she has led the grieving family to believe.

Told from the alternating perspectives of Nathan and Maria, this is a fascinating and emotional story of grief, forgiveness and, ultimately, hope. Another wonderful read by the talented Kate Hewitt.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

No Time to Say Goodbye is a book that will break your heart but give you hope.

It is a book of hope, faith and family and added in is the mystery who shot and randomly killed Laura on the subway leaving Nathan a widow with 3 young girls.

Its a book that shows how life changes in an instant, how we all have different perspective of our relationships.

Its about about healing and family.

Maria is a strong part of the book who comes in to look after the girls as they try to get life back to the new normal. Maria has her own story to tell.

Well worth the read as you cheer on Nathan as he tries his best to deal with his and his children's grief.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read No Time to Say Goodbye

When Nathan loses his wife in a tragic violent way, and is left to care for his three young daughters, his whole life changes. I really like this book because it was In part a mystery, yet it was still a very emotional domestic story. The characters were very believable. I thought the ending was really great, because it wasn’t some sappy Cinderella story ending. There is no easy way to recover from such a devastating loss. This book illustrated that. Thank you for my advance copy and I will look forward to more books written by this author.
