The Central Park Pact series is one of the most unique premises in contemporary romance, and Lauren Layne delivers against this in spades. Three women become friends born out of the death of one man, one man in three relationships with said women. The most recent fling Naomi, the dutiful wife Claire Hayes, and the women who truly thought she was on the to becoming his second wife, one Audrey Tate.
Audrey might also be the one most broken by her role in Brayden Hayes's life and in this friendship. She wants to believe in a HEA for herself, but she doubts she deserves it. After all, she was "borrowing someone else's" Prince Charming. But Marriage on Madison Avenue is Audrey's story of atonement. With a nasty social demon besmirching her name, she finds her very oldest and best friend, Clarke, defending her honor and the two in an unorthodox arrangement, a fake engagement.
This is one of the best types of "friends to something more" stories. These two know each other well, but they haven't shared all their secrets, and this little betrothment uncovering each others' vulnerabilities. And how can they move past what they believe they have always been, what they think they mean to each other, and make it something else without killing their friendship. Their journey of heartbreaking and joyous, and perhaps my favorite in this series.
I haven't read a Lauren Layne book that I didn't love, she's by far one of my top go-to authors for contemporary romance. There's always just enough angst and the best thing is the part of getting to something good. Seeing her characters grow and evolve. The Central Park Pact is a favorite for good reason and I highly recommend readers of Contemporary Romance looking for well earned HEA's. 5 Stars!!
I have been such a fan of the Central Park Pact series and was so excited to read Audrey and Clarke's story. It can't believe that the series is over, but I am so happy Lauren Layne created this series for readers.
Marriage on Madison Avenue is a romantic fake engagement/friends to lovers story that will give you so many feels. Audrey and Clarke have been best friends forever and have never crossed that line between friendship to lovers. They have a great friendship that is open and honest.
They agree to a fake engagement with plans to break it off for personal reasons. It gave me Gossip Girl vibes and I loved it!!
I give Marriage on Madison Avenue 4 stars. Lauren Layne did a great job at keeping it fun, swoon-worthy, and exciting. It was a good ending to a fantastic series.
I enjoyed this book so much. I’m so sad The Central Park Pact trilogy has come to an end...but there’s nothing like saving the best for last☺️ Audrey and Clarke, childhood best friends, somehow find themselves fake engaged for various reasons. Audrey Tate a social “influencer” finds herself at the center of social media gossip, which could potentially hurt her image...while Clarke West is trying to avoid his overbearing mother from setting him up. But what happens when two best friends who are just helping each other out, somehow make things a bit more complicated??? Why fun to read back and forth banter!
Ever since the first book I knew I loved Audrey’s character, and it was such a delight getting to know her
Thank you @netgalley and @gallerybooks @laurenlayneauthor for this #ARC
This book could definitely stand alone in this series. And if you’re like me and loved Naomi, Claire, and Audrey’s friendship, you definitely have to get your hands on this one💖
And just like that, the Central Park Pact series comes to a beautiful end. In some ways, Lauren Layne saved the best for last. Audrey and Clark have been best friends, and only friends, since childhood. After Clark's mother meddles in his love life once again, Clark decides to settle the issue once and for all by becoming "pretend" engaged to Audrey. And Audrey has been dealing with a cruel internet bully, so she is more than happy to play along. But a game between best friends morphs to something more. As Audrey grapples with her newfound feelings for Clark, Audrey's best friends, and starts of previous books in the series, Naomi and Claire, are always there to provide moral support.
I was so excited to finally read Audrey and Clark's book! Through the previous two books, we have gotten to know Audrey and Clark, so I felt invested in their story from the very start. We also saw a more vulnerable side to Audrey, which was refreshing.
This is a perfect winter read: full of New York glam, whimsy, and charm. I love that we were also able to follow Naomi and Claire's stories as well. Although this is a standalone novel, I would definitely recommend reading the other two books first, so you can fully fall in love with all three strong and independent women. 4.5 stars
Thank you to Netgalley, Gallery Books, and Tasty Book PR for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
Married on Madison Avenue is the third book in the Central Park Pack. This book could be read as a stand-a-lone as the prologue takes us back to the beginning, but I enjoyed reading them in order.
This book features Aubrey Tate and her male best friend Clarke West. This book is written in duel point of views which is one of my favorite writing styles. I like hearing from both characters thoughts.
I love the friendship between Audrey and Clarke and the story of how they go from best friends to lovers. I'm sad this series has come to an end, but I really enjoyed it!

Audrey Tate is preparing to get married.she dreamed of wearing white and not marrying someone's husband.in her dreams he hadn't been dead. I didn't feel a connection with Audrey.
When I'm in need of a happy, feel good story, Lauren Layne always delivers. Always.
This is the last in the Central Park Pact series, and when I first started reading, I was somewhat surprised by the storyline! It was unique and filled with friendship, fun times, and female bonding for all the right reasons.
Audrey was the last of the "trio" to have her story, and it's a fun friends-to-lovers that starts as a bet gone too far. When what started as a "gotcha" to Clark's mom ends as a "gotcha" for each other, they realize that they were the last to know!
While I'm sorry to see the ends of this series, I was pleasantly surprised to find Alexis and "the Belles" make an appearance! Nice tie to older books/series.
The hardest part of finishing a book by Lauren Layne, much less the last one in a series, is having to wait for the next release!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 stars
This book was really cute. Two life long friends who decide to fake an engagement to get other people off your back? What more could you want?
I enjoyed the second book in this series but this one was even more fun. I read it in one sitting and was rooting for Clarke and Audrey to finally figure out their feelings.
The good things about this book are that it hits all the classic tropes. Best friends for life, fake engagement, secret pining, and even arranged marriage at one point. The pining is fantastic in this. You get it from both Clarke and Audrey and you just want to yell at them to open their eyes and see that they're obviously both in love! The friendships in this book are genuine and feel like real friendships and they care for one another.
It earns its rating because, in the end, I wanted MORE. This series is like PG-13 Hallmark. She builds up to a lot only to fade to black or cut off before you even get anywhere. There are moments that are mentioned instead of written about that I would have loved to READ in more depth. I just wanted more detail and more story. This would be at the very top of my list if that were the case. It really just felt so much like a step up above Hallmark in terms of sweetness when you're expecting more an author you know is capable of it.
I would still recommend this book for anyone looking for a tropey and sweet romcom.
Perfect ending to a phenomenal series. I’m really bummed that it’s over and I hope we get more stories like this from Lauren Layne. It takes a lot to convince me that two people who have been friends forever don’t know that they’re in love, but I was thoroughly convinced. Audrey and Clarke’s story was absolutely, positively worth the wait. A little angsty, funny and very romantic. I loved being in both their heads as their hearts finally figured it out. Couldn’t ask for a better ending to a series.
I absolutely LOVED this book! The characters were so realistic and engaging. Lauren Layne's novels are all fun, fresh romances and this was no exception.
Marriage on Madison Avenue is a fun and sweet read about lifelong friends who pretend to be engaged and then find out their true feelings.
I loved the friendship part of the story between Clarke and Audrey. They had genuine dialog and a truly sweet friendship dynamic. The change that occurs in their relationship seems genuine and not overly rushed, which I liked.
The female friendships in this book were also refreshing and well-written. Another bonus to a good love story.
I did feel the middle portion of this book was overly drawn out and long while the ending (including the fleshing out of dome important scenes) were rushed and less detailed.
Overall, a great read with a sweet story and a happy ending.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback.
I've enjoyed every single book written by this author because every single book has given me the "feels" that I adore when reading contemporary romance and this was no exception. Unfortunately for me, I missed out on reading the first two books in this series but I easily caught onto the premise of these three woman and their friendship and their connection to each other. In fact, one of my favorite things about this read was the friendship between Claire, Naomi and Audrey -- how refreshing and uplifting! I thoroughly enjoyed the childhood friends-to-lovers journey between Audrey and Clarke and found myself cheering for them and hoping they would find their HEA. Everything I've come to expect from this author - a very easy, enjoyable, feel-good read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
I'm only able to Mark a 5 Stars review but Marriage On Madison Avenue by Lauren Layne deserves 10 STARS!!
This is the story of Audrey "Dree" and Clarke. Best friend since childhood who have figured out a way to show that women and men can be friends with no romantic silly business getting in the way. At least that's what they two thought for so long until Clarke's mother decided she knows what's best for her son and that involves a certain ex from his past. With pressure mounting on his end and Audrey dealing with a online bully these two figure out a way to get what they want with no feelings getting hurt. Or so they think.
I LOVED the way this author makes you fall in love with these two characters honestly from the moment you start reading. This is such a cute romantic story you can't help but root for them every step of the way. I came into this story not having read the previous tow books in the series and I don't feel like I needed to connect with this story line but I will tell you I've already both the last two books and can't wait to explore more about every in this series! So excited!!!!!!!

If you're looking for a light hearted romance with a surprising emotional punch, Marriage on Madison Avenue is a perfect choice. This friends-to-lovers with a side of romantic comedy story is just the ticket to make you smile as Audrey and Clarke move towards their happily ever after.
Audrey Tate was easy to love for all sorts of reasons: she's loyal, she loves her family, is a devoted best friend, and she's a successful Instagram influencer. She's also holding onto guilt that has made her think she doesn't deserve happiness. It was easy to connect with Audrey because of this. Who hasn't made mistakes that (for at least a split second) we think are so awful we should spend a lifetime being punished for them? Her growing awareness that she deserves the world made my heart sing (and, yes, I might have teared up).
Clarke West is aptly named, resembling Superman's alter ego with his thick black hair, glasses, and all around good looks. His charm has made him a hit with the ladies and except for one bad romance, he's taken advantage of that. As Audrey's best friend she's always been off limits romantically despite him declaring a fake engagement a time or two to escape a "delicate" situation. It's "third times a charm" for Audrey and Clarke when he tells his ex-girlfriend, Elizabeth, that he and Audrey are engaged.
Author Lauren Layne does a great job of rolling out the plot of Marriage on Madison Avenue. Audrey's success as a social media influencer leads her and Clarke to extend their fake engagement so she can shake off some internet trolling while delving into the wedding industry. Once they decide to keep going it's only a matter of time before fake kisses become real and each find themselves mooning over the other. It was sweet and funny and just plain fun to read.
The supporting cast is fantastic. Obviously, characters from the first two books (Naomi & Oliver/Claire & Scott) share some of the spotlight. The friendship between the three women was one of my favorite things about the book. Their love and respect for each other was obvious and I adored their scenes together.
The non-romantic relationship that really stood out to me was between Clarke and his parents. Throughout the book we get scenes that show both his parents attempting to manipulate him while trying to one up each other. This results in a few overdue conversations between Clarke and his mom and dad that I really appreciated (and made me laugh a time or two).
I missed the first two books of this series, but easily navigated the various characters and relationships so I believe Marriage on Madison Avenue can definitely be read as a Standalone.
4 stars. Heat level: 1 (there's kissing but all sex scenes are behind closed doors)
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for honest feedback.
Audrey and Clarke have been best friends since childhood. They've even pretended to be engaged to get Clarke's mother to stop trying to pick out a wife suitable for him. This time it works out well for them both to be in a fake engagement since social media is determined to shame professional influencer, Audrey. But the role playing turns real in a wonderful romance of best friends to lovers. Recommended.
I enjoyed this book. I liked the hero and heroine in the previous books as side characters, but I wasn't completely sure I would enjoy them as the main characters, but I did. I do wish that there had been a little more of Clarke in this story. He is very interesting. I liked his complicated relationship with his parents, particularly his mother. I wish we had seen a little of his previous relationship with Elizabeth rather than just how he reacted to it. Audrey is also interesting. I like that it explored how she felt regarding her previous relationship and her friendships. I found her job a little weird, but I think I'm supposed to. All the heroines in the books are entrepreneurs, but Audrey's job is the hardest to relate to. Overall a nice, quick read.
Romance novels often use familiar tropes, and as Lauren Layne closes out this trilogy, she definitely did an entertaining job with friends to lovers. In the Central Park Pact series, three women met at a funeral only to discover they were all involved with the same man. They have become the best of friends and in this third and final book of the series.
So, what is Audrey Tate's story? Well, she has been best friends with Clarke West for years. Platonic yet they loved each other deeply. When Clarke becomes frustrated with his mother's matchmaking, Audrey agrees to pretend to be engaged to him. In making it look convincing, a gently touch, a long look, a lingering kiss leads the pair wondering if they could possibly be friends with benefits long enough for Clarke to get his mother off of his back.
I loved this book and it was easily my favorite of the series. I loved how Audrey and Clarke were forced to face their feelings. I also loved the humor this book contained. However, the thing that I loved with Marriage on Madison Avenue, as well as with the first two books in the series, Passion on Park Avenue and Love on Lexington Avenue especially because of the friendship that existed between Audrey, Naomi and Claire. Although their friendship started from very unusual circumstances, it is powerful and gives the stories a nice emotional edge. These books could be standalones, but I encourage readers who enjoy romance to read the trilogy as a whole.
Many thanks to Gallery and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.
You don't need to have read the previous two books in the Central Park Pact series to appreciated Marriage on Madison Avenue, but if you had you know how badly Clarke and Audrey NEEDED to be together. The childhood best friends were clearly soulmates and everyone knew it, except for them. I live for this trope. When Audrey and Clarke decide to fake an engagement to annoy internet trolls and exes alike, they suddenly begin to realize that their feelings for each other aren't as fake as they originally thought. GIMME ME MORE.
The three women are back and from the first book now to the third, each book is different just like each woman. Maybe that is why from a guy’s point of view each one is a little intimidating, which as it should be. Audrey is finally working on dealing with herself and not wanting to go get cupcakes right away, though there is nothing wrong with a good cupcake my daughter says (I agree). She is looking back at the men she has chosen and is actually believing that it is her fault for the way everything worked out though Claire’s husband was an ass, jerk you get the point.
On top of everything else, she has some troll on the internet posting things about her that she feels are offensive. I get why she is hurt by what the person is saying especially when the ass does not have b…s to face you. That is the only problem with social media, I digress. So, her best friend Clarke who is being set up by his mother once again and is shocked to see his ex at lunch no less agrees to help Audrey with a fake engagement.
This is not like one of those regular fake engagement books no siree this is a full Manhattan-style fake engagement with party, cake tasting from a top pastry chef, a wonderful wedding planner and of course two people who thought they both agree to a fake engagement agree that if it were a real wedding they would want an over the top one, so everyone would know they are marrying there one. So, in New York, you get married in the Plaza where else?
Now, of course, his mother Clarke for whatever reason really does not care for Audrey, but Clarke has always liked her and she has always liked him. They like the same movies and most everything else. Even enjoy just being home together as friends watching a movie eating pizza, popcorn and lounging on the couch no pretentions. When Clarke sees her in a different light, he knows she is the one, but he now must convince her.
Audrey because of everything that has happened to her and she feels responsible, probably for too much is falling for Clarke especially after they kiss, but will she allow herself to really be, be Audrey. I think really that is what I got out of this story, her becoming her own person. Moving in her own place, looking at her side what role she played if any and just growing up. She is the youngest of the three women and she had been there for each one of them especially Clare. From the first day when they left the park bench to when Clare moved from her home and started her new life, she supported her and the same with Naomi. She looked up to both of them in their strength and courage and was trying to find her own she went about it differently. Overall a good book, I wish maybe there would have been something about them all maybe ten years later but that is just me. A very good story to go along with the other books.
The cutest read, cutest cover, a fun overall vacation read! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to read this book!
