I read the first DI Fawley but can't remember that much about it. I'm not sure that you need to have read the others to catch up with what is happening.
There was a lot of use of social media text or images. For me this doesn't work on a Kindle, you can't enlarge the images and so you can't read them easily.
Early on in the book they “allegedly” download from the internet a birth certificate. This is not possible, only the indexes are available and the certificate has to be applied for. The indexes don't contain that much information and they would have needed to know the mother's maiden name. Sloppy work there. Also I couldn't even read the certificate as it was so small, not a great idea. Some of us read on a Kindle as you can enlarge the text.
I didn't like the switching between first and third person in the narrative either.
Overall the twists and turns made for a good read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC in return for an honest review.

This is a cracking humdinger of an addition to Cara Hunter's outstanding DI Adam Fawley series set in Oxford. It might even be my favourite, although seeing how good the others were, I am not laying any bets on that just yet. It begins with Adam, and his wife, Alex, in a better place after the heartbreak and sorrow of losing their young son. Alex is pregnant, Adam is doing everything he can to make things as easy as they can be for her. However, this is crime fiction and their world is about to be shaken to the core. A taxi driver comes to the aid of a confused and distraught young girl left seriously injured. Faith Appleyard, a beautiful fashion student, had been abducted in a van, her head covered with a plastic bag, taken to some allotments, assaulted, only for the perpetrator to run away upon hearing police sirens. Instead of reporting the crime, Faith returns home to clean up, left an emotional mess, but she shies away from having the police investigate and her mother is backing her up.

The police are baffled, why is Faith refusing to co-operate with them? Adam and his team are deeply disturbed, this is the kind of crime that rarely happens in isolation, and they are right. The mother of 15 year old Sasha Blake reports her missing after a night out with her best friends, a close knit group known as LIPS, the coolest girls in school that others crave to join. With Sasha physically resembling Faith, the police know they have a connection as they mount a desperate hunt for her. The MO of the perpetrator brings trouble to Adam's door as the past comes back to haunt him. 20 years ago Adam helped to ensure the conviction of Gavin Parry, known as The Roadside Rapist, who has remained behind bars maintaining his innocence all these years. Parry is now up for parole, and whilst Adam is certain of his guilt, uncertainties arise as it seems they either have a copycat at large or Parry really is a victim of a miscarriage of justice. The most twisted of investigations takes in the misogynist filth emanating from the distasteful Incel (Involuntary Celibate) sites, before moving into a surprisingly unexpected direction.

It's a delight to see the return of Adam's team based at St Aldate's Police Station in Oxford, the more confident DS Gislingham, Verity Everett, Erica Somer, Baxter and even Quinn, there is a new member of the team, the able and ambitious black DC Anthony Asante from London. They chase down every lead possible, hardworking, highly motivated, loyal in their support of Adam, and never giving up, even when it looked impossible to uncover the vital evidence required to charge the guilty. Hunter continues to effectively integrate her narrative with the inclusion of social media, newspaper articles, psychiatric reports, court transcripts, suspect interviews and more. This is a fast paced, intense, utterly gripping and hugely entertaining crime read. If you have never read Cara Hunter, I strongly suggest you give her try, you are unlikely to be disappointed! Many thanks to Penguin UK for an ARC.

A really excellent Police procedural .
D.I. Adam Fawley and his team are faced with two young girls abductions that lead to one being murdered.
The problems increase, by looking like crimes that were committed 20 years ago ,with the supposed culprit caught and in gaol . Has there been a gross mistake ? Is it a copycat ?

The search for the killer just gets more and more complicated with lots of possibilities .There are many twists in this tale before it becomes resolved or has it?

Bags of procedural elements with forensic parts that will satisfy all CSI buffs.

Great and satisfying read ,loved it.

All the Rage is part 4 in the DI Adam Fawley series, and I have to say, after not reading any of the previous books, my enjoyment or understanding of the characters and the plot was not affected at all. This was a cracking read. Right from the start where a young girl is picked up following an attack, but she’s reluctant to involve the police. So there’s lots of questions; why doesn’t she want to involve the police, was it a prank like she suggests, and what is she hiding. But then the plot advances when another young girl goes missing and you’re taken along for a fantastic ride whilst the police are trying to figure out who’s behind it all. There’s red herrings to throw you off the scent, but I had no idea how this was going to end. And it was great to read a book set in an area I used to live in. I’ll be checking out the other books in the series and any more written by Hunter.

A teenage girl is attacked by a psychopath, and another teenage girl disappears. I found this book fascinating, flowing and to be a great read, however there were too many settings and plots that confused me at times. It is a read that requires conscious reading. I love crime and thriller as genre, hence I cannot underrate the book and the effort and perhaps the vast amount of research laid in this book. Congratulations.

Another triumph for Cara Hunter. Another brilliant D I Adam Fawley story. Taut, gripping and page-turning. Bring it on. Looking forward to the next one. My thanks to Cara Hunter, Penguin and NetGalley for the ARC.

Well Cara Hunter has done it yet again in All the Rage. Gripping from the very start and covering some very dark material. Asante uncovers a disturbing chat room and puts Baxter on the back foot, things technical being his domain. But this isn’t the only blow to Baxter's esteem as Erica’s new boyfriend, Giles Saumerez offers a different technical angle. DI Fawley has to step aside partway through the case to a very competent Ruth Gallagher of the Major Crimes unit (I hope we see more of her). Meanwhile Fawley muses over a former case of his and whether he played strictly by the rules.

I haven’t a clue if chat rooms like those in All the Rage exist or if teenagers are capable of holding out against Oxford’s finest but it did make for an excellent detective thriller.

I so enjoyed Hunter's previous books, both gripping and full of likeable characters. This one lives up to my expectations and more. From the start you are pulled in, there are surprises along the way that I didn't see coming, right to the final reveal, a result both shocking and unexpected. Totally absorbing.

I absolutely love caras books and this one did not disappoint.
Back to the familiar and comfortable team led by Adam fawley.
20 years ago Gavin parry, also known as the roadside rapist, was jailed for some brutal attacks. He has always maintained his innocence and is shortly due for parol.
Now, 2 girls are brutally assaulted, resulting in the death of one of them. The attacks seem to bear resemblance to the attacks 20 years ago.....was the wrong man jailed??
The team investigate, uncovering the vial truth.
A great twist at the end.
Thoroughly recommend this book.

Another 5* book to add to the Adam Fawley series! Again kept me guessing right up until the end with it's intricate web of deceipt. I wont reveal anything of the story but it was nice to learn a bit more about Adam and Alex's background, definitely helped me to like the characters further with knowing them a little more. Look forward to the next installment......

Wow!
From plot lines that are current if not even a little ahead of their time, plenty of twist and turns, suspense and the excellent characterization this book has it all..
The book is told from several perspectives and makes clever use of police report transcripts and text messaging to convey some of the facts, many of the feelings and a lot of the abject hatred aimed at people who are redefining gender stereotypes.
Disturbing in places, with the sheer vehemence of the hate crimes leaping off the page this is an uncomfortable and though provoking read.

Thank you to Netgalley and Random House for the advance copy of All the Rage, the fourth book in the DI Adam Fawley series by Cara Hunter.

Detective fiction is my favourite genre so I was keen to read this, and overall it did not disappoint. The premise of the story is a teenage girl snatched from the street and assaulted. She is soon picked up by a taxi driver who reports the incident to the police, but the only problem is, the girl doesn't want to press charges. I immediately wanted to know why. I was hooked.

The book successfully explores the sensitive issue of gender reassignment, which is not something I've come across in a book before and it's great to see authors bringing these new stories to the table. As a member of the LBGTQ community myself, it's refreshing to stumble upon this content when you're not looking for it.

Although I loved that the story was told in easily digestible chunks, in lots of long paragraphs rather than chapters, I struggled to follow the characters. I lost track of the number of perspectives I was reading from, and personally that made the book a little challenging to read, and difficult to get emotionally attached to any of the characters. However this is a very small niggle in what was an excellent book from start to finish.

All in all, this was a great read and I would definitely consider reading more in this series. A massive well done to the author!

I was thrilled to get an ARC of this book as have enjoyed the previous three in the series. I read it in less than a day and am now disappointed it’s over so quickly.

Twists and turns that keep you on your toes whilst still developing the DI Farley and co storyline and characters well. Thoroughly enjoyable although the subject matter is quite disturbing. A true mystery thriller that makes me can’t wait for the next one.

I couldn't stop reading this. It is a cleverly contrived plot with frequent changes of direction to wrong foot any reader who thinks they know the answer. One girl is the subject of what might be a hate crime, another is murdered. There are similarities to a crime many years back which was handled by the detective in charge of these recent events. He has to take a back seat because of this connection. The characters, particularly the teenagers are very well drawn. For once, the detective's seem to have settled home lives which is unusual in detective fiction just now. The whole story is superbly well written.

Thank you so much to netgalley for this advanced copy. I have read all the previous adam fawley series and love them I didn't think they could get any better. But this one starts with a young girl called faith who gets attacked then another young girl called Sasha gets attacked and dies it brings similarities to a case that Adam worked on about 20 years ago and everyone starts yo wander if the person who was blamed and put in prison was really responsible or do they have a copy cat or is it someone else entirely the team fight to get to the bottom of things. You also find out a lot more about fawley and his private life. Can't wait for the next in the series.

I let out a whoop when I was approved to read a pre-release, the 4th in the DI Fawley series. Each has been a joy, with fast paced stories that weave intricately to build twisty, riveting thrillers. The fourth instalment lived up to it's predecessors beautifully. I loved the way that, although a standalone story, we also follow the development of relationships of the characters and their own back story and their relevance to the case.

When DI Adam Fawley hear of a distressed teenage girl in Oxford, he become uneasy when there are parallels to a case he worked on before. She was grabbed off the street, a plastic bag forced onto her head and the use of cable ties strike alarm. But can he really share what he is thinking with his team?

I thoroughly recommend this gem of a book, from the wonderful Cara Hunter
