Porcupette Finds a Family is the found family trip for children! This book was sweet and and simple. I loved the illustrations and bright colors. This will be your child’s new favorite bed time book!

Reviewing only because the files aren't working for me however I will look for another way to get a copy so I can review this book.
Aww, this was such a sweet story. The porcupette was so concerned about the bear mama not wanting it that it didn't realize that the bear mama loved it.
This would be a great story for newly adopted children to help them adapt to their new homes.
This is a wonderfully sensitive picture book that deals with the sensitive topic of adoption and how anxiety of the person being adopted can look like bad behaviour but with love, support and understanding, you can love your new family even though you miss your other one and you don't have to push them away.
Wonderful addition to any classroom.
The illustrations in Porcupette Finds a Family are cute, and the story is a much needed one for families. However, it almost seems like this book wasn't edited. The wording needs quite a bit of work.

This was pretty heavy and emotional as far as children's books go. I think this would be a book that resonated well with adopted children since it's about having a found family that loves you as much as any blood family would. Porcupette goes through a lot of emotions in this book, and I'm glad it's something that kids can learn from
I loved this book. This is a story not only for those who have an unconventional family situation, but for anyone who has ever felt grief, fear, displacement - essentially all of us. I think everyone can find something relatable in porcupette and her journey. A rare book that is simple enough for a child to follow along with, and yet complex enough for an adult to be moved by. Highly recommend.
Really like the animal art and the message around adoption, trauma, and lashing out is good for kids and parents alike. Very nice story.
This book would be excellent for a child who is in a foster home, or has been adopted. It discusses the fear of abandonment and not being loved. My heart went out to the little porcupine in the story. Nicely done!
Porcupette's loving mother suddenly did not return from the outside world leaving the baby porcupine alone and frightened. The little one left her home and wandered into a cave where a mama bear was feeding her cubs and became part of the family. As the little one became more confused and certain that the bears would leave her alone, she became angry and that led to quill injuries to mama bear. But mama loves her just the same, as is true in adoptive families everywhere regardless of reason for being suddenly orphaned. The illustrations are simple and moving.
I requested and received a free temporary ebook copy from VanitaBooks, LLC via NetGalley. Thank you!

The illustrations are cute.
I like the Mother Bear, she has a great heart to take in the little Pocupette into her family.
A truly touching story with delightful illustrations. Could bring comfort to many children in need of some love and a family..
This book is a mix of emotions and man, am I sitting here just a little bit impacted by that! I always get teary eyed when stories are about animals losing their families or friends, I don’t know why! Yes, it’s a thing...
But this book is great for young readers who are ready to step into nuanced storylines. I liked it!!
This is an impressive book that deals with the tragedy that is reality for too many children in a gentle and heartfelt way. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Super sweet book that would be great for foster children or those who have recently been adopted. Teaches them that just because their first mother/family left them, the family they are with right now can still love and provide for them. Wonderfully illustrated with a great message.

An absolutely adorable story about a young porcupine (porcupette) that loses its mother and tries to find a new family.
Something that every kid should read, especially kids in bad situations- true family isn't always about blood, and your true family will love you no matter what, even if you hurt them.
A very sweet and endearing story about a porcupette trying to find.a family. The story was heartwarming and the artwork for it was just as sweet. I liked reading it and enjoyed the message of the book.
This was a book that I wasn't quite sure that I would enjoy. At first I noticed that there were other books in the series, which I tend to avoid, and that it sounded too cutesy for me. But then I chose to give it a spin.
The story stabbed me right in the heart with the way that it read as it is about children who are troubled either through broken homes and/or lost parents. Trying to make up for the past, Porcupette reaches out to find a family who may love her and by accident roams into a bear cave. Taking advantage of the bears she snuggles in and tries to be a bear cub or at least until they awaken when the self-doubt turns into whipping out to protect one's scarred soul.
As a result this is a story about broken souls, heart families that are adopted by those who need loved ones, why people whip out in self-defense, loving acceptance by those who take in the bruised ones and vulnerable healing from the sufferee.
And as such it is a sure book that would make a wonderful read for adopters and adoptees as well as foster kids or even for others who suffer traumatic loss.
With the beautifully soft and charming illustrations this book is a nice balm to the soul for all who will read it.

Porcupette Finds a Family

I absolutely loved this picture book. It gave information about porcupines and their anatomy of their body that even I didn’t know. It goes through their lives with their mother and then gives the main character a life of her own when she is left alone when she is old enough.
The art style of this book is adorable. It doesn’t make the animals scary; it makes them cuddly and desired. This is not a picture book that would work without the words. It needs the words in order to progress the storyline. I recommend this be a bedtime story and not a storytime read because it will allow the child to understand the message of the story better.
I would describe this story as being one about finding your home. Even though the porcupine isn’t even close to looking and acting like a bear, the Mama bear takes in the porcupine as one of her own. It is a nice message to give to kids; even though you don’t look the same, you can find a home. Love is love no matter what. The porcupine doesn’t realize that the Mama bear loves her too until she opens herself up to the Mama bear’s love.

Beautifully illustrated by Mike Blanc, Porcupette Finds a Family tells the story of a porcupette whose mother doesn't come home one day and finds love with a new family.
I touching tale of the confusion of a young porcupette seemingly abandoned by their mother and unsure whether to trust the unconditional love of another family. Another brilliant book from Vanita Oelschalger.
