Overall it was a good read, but it was slightly inconsistent. One instance in particular that sticks out where Abby and Hudson are having an intimate conversation alone and yet she's referred to as "Ms. Levesque," "his assistant," "the woman," and " his lover, " interchangeably all within a few paragraphs of each other.
The same again occurred during a conversation between Hudson and his father where his father is referred to as "father, " "Mr. Quinn" and "Walker Quinn" within a few sentences of each other.
The relationship between Abby and Hudson was up and down, and I didn't really like Hudson until about half way through.
But this book had its sweet moments that make the story work.
I truly wanted to love this book, it had great moments, but I was disappointed by the end of the book. My main issue was with Hudson. He was straight up a jerk! The way he talked to Abby, I hated it. I have an issue with a male character trying to woo a woman by being rude to them. That is not cute or a good potential relationship. The book had cute moments which is why I’m giving it 3 stars.
Lies, even ones with good intentions, will always -always- come back to bite you. Abby learns this in a most heartbreaking fashion as she makes the snap decision to take her flighty, irresponsible twin’s place when Gabby’s employer shows up expecting her to drop everything and leave, right now, on a business trip to Paris where he must close a billion-dollar deal. Abby has always been the one to pick up the pieces of her sister’s life and decisions so to pretend to be Gabby shouldn’t be a huge deal, after all, she can speak French like a natural as well. The troubles come when emotions get involved, and betrayal is felt by the one person who could have Abby’s heart forever — except he thinks he’s falling for Gabby.
Everything you really need to know about THE BAD TWIN is in the Cover Description. I found Abby and Hudson’s story to be engaging, fast-moving, with intense emotions and two people that I cared about needing them to find some way out of this web of lies that are keeping them apart. I understood each of their sides. Betrayal, especially when you let down your guard to allow someone to touch those hidden places in your heart is beyond painful. So I got why Hudson reacted as he did.
Watching Abby and Hudson fall in love and work their way through their troubles to a happy ending was an engaging, emotional journey. I’d not hesitate to recommend THE BAD TWIN to anyone who enjoys a solid romance, switching identities and overcoming well-intentioned lies.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
I read this book in one day!! I sat down in the morning to read the book and i just couldn't put it down.
I loved the story and the characters.

The Bad Twin
by Avery Scott
Being the good twin isn't all it's cracked up to be. Abby Levesque knows that better than anyone. While her sister drifts through life carefree, Abby's left to clean up her messes. The latest mess? Hudson Quinn— the hot, angry billionaire on her doorstep demanding she accompany him to Paris. He's obviously mistaken her for her twin, Gabby, who happens to be his assistant. Too bad Gabby is nowhere to be found. If Abby wants to fix her sister's latest blunder, she'll have to pretend to be someone else for two weeks—preferably someone who isn't wildly attracted to her mercurial boss…
As far as Hudson's concerned, his sexy-but-flaky new personal assistant is just another in a long line of terrible decisions and failures in his life. But he's working on the deal of a lifetime—a deal that could change everything for him—and he needs her help to close it. The last thing he ever expected was to connect with her on a soul-deep level.
Falling in love wasn't part of the job, and when Hudson finds out who she really is, Abby's terrified he'll never forgive her. With a billion dollar deal—and both their hearts—on the line, can Abby convince Hudson she's the right twin for him? (less)

This is my first book by this author. I was captivated from page one.
Abby made a wonderful main character. She was so tortured and vulnerable. She was the responsible twin who wanted to make sure their lives were safe and secure. So, when Hudson Quinn shows up on her doorstep calling her Gabrielle and threatening to fire her sister if she didn't get on the plane to Paris, how could she say no?
I can't imagine being in such a situation but I know without a shadow of a doubt that I would have made the same decision as she. She didn't have a job. Her sister did. Her sister was 10 hours away in a car speeding toward Mexico. If Abby wanted to save her house from being sold out from under her, this was the only decision she could make. Gabby reminds me of a lot of people these days. She wasn't invested in doing the job. She just wanted to have fun. Abby wasn't wired that way. Funny how some twins can be so different yet look exactly the same.
I was crying at the end when Abby had fallen for Hudson and the ruse was over. The author really knows how to pull at our heartstrings. Avery Scott is definitely an author to watch and I will be picking up a few of her older titles when I need those feel good romances that threaten to break your heart.
This was just what the doctor ordered. Romance, angst and sincere gratification. Such a sweet combination. Definitely check this one out!
I received this as an ARC from NetGally from the publisher for an honest review. I thank the publisher, author and NetGalley for allowing me to read this title.
Abby's the good twin. It's why, when her sister Gabrielle's boss shows up at their doorstep demanding she go with him to Paris to help close the deal they've been working on, she goes. Unfortunately, somehow along the way, she falls in love with Hudson, even knowing that he'll be irate when he finds out she misled him about her identity. Will Hudson forgive her or will he shut her out of his life?
I was excited to read The Bad Twin because the blurb sounded promising. Unfortunately, the execution was a bit lacking for my tastes. The whole story gave off a very old-fashioned vibe for one, and it helped keep the characters disconnected from me. I never connected with or liked Hunter or Abby, especially Hunter. He was kind of a douche for most of it, and even when he softened a bit, it was so late in the story that I found I still didn't care about him. So why 3 stars and not 2? Well, the story itself was good and showed potential. It's nothing extraordinary, but definitely not so horrible as to deserve 2 or fewer stars.
The book synopsis really intrigued me, and I had this book on my TBR list even before I received a free copy for review and I was really looking forward to reading the story. However, even though I really wanted to love it, something was not clicking, felt odd and a little hard to relate to.
The storyline was quite favourable for a good romance story, but the option wasn't exercised successfully by the author. And as a reader every so often I felt as though the events were changing not because of the characters' personalities, but to suit the plot and built the suspense. Some of the events didn’t even feel real.
Although the author has great storytelling skills and writing was beautiful, I couldn’t connect to the characters and it’s a huge downturn for me if I can’t feel their emotions.
As a French culture lover and a huge Paris fan, I was in for a treat with all the detailed descriptions of the city and totally enjoyed reading those parts in the book. I felt as if I was walking and exploring the place myself. Story pace was perfect, and as I mentioned the writing was beautiful hence the 3 stars.
Thank you to The Next Step PR and the author for a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

*REVIEW* 🌟🌟🌟🌟
The Bad Twin is a fun and fast treat. Abby and Gabby are twins in looks but opposites in personality. Gabby is the irresponsible one who just drifts like whatever through life. Abby is the responsible twin who worries about bills and grown-up things. Gabby actually gets a job, but her carelessness causes a mistaken identity. Gabby misses a meeting, and her boss shows up at her house. He mistakes Abby for Gabby, but rather than correcting him, Abby just goes with it. Suddenly, she's on a plane to Paris with her sister's hot boss. Wouldn't you do the same thing? It's Paris for goodness sake! Abby is not bad. She deserves to live a little. Though somewhat predictable, the two develop feelings, but the truth ruins everything, etc., it's still an enjoyable delightful read. I like place switching stories. The twins see life through each other's perspectives, and hopefully, this will cause positive changes. What about Abby and the boss hottie? Will these two work out this huge misunderstanding? Maybe Gabby will take responsibility for herself now. I really enjoyed this story and these characters. It's well written and snappy with great dialogue and lovely descriptions. Although new to me, I will seek out more from to read from Avery Scott! I like her style!
“The Bad Twin lead us into the story of Hudson and Abagail. It was my first time reading a book of Avery and I loved it. When I first read the title I though it was going to be about twin brothers but surprisingly it was about twin girls!
Hudson and Abby met after Gabrielle, Abby twin sister runs off to Mexico and left his boss before going to Paris. As an attempt to protect her sister, Abby is forced to take her place. Here’s where our story starts.
Abby was a sweet girl, to my opinion a little too much worried about her loved ones but she was a wonderful character. Handsome, millionaire and complicated. Hudson was a very interesting character. I fall in love with him because he made it so easy.
They were perfect for each other. Their chemistry was beautiful and sweet. A delightful love story with a splendid happily ever after. I highly recommend you this story.”
Abby had worked for RSl industries which was a medical billing company. It was boring work requiring squinting at pages full of illegible writing an inputting it on a computer. Abby got back from lunch late and was called in her supervisor's office and told she was being let go as the company had been bought out and they let her go as the company buying RSl had its own coding division. Abby and her identical twin Gabby/Gabrielle had been raised by there Grand-mere Betty since they had been five years old. They lived in the house she left them and had been raised in. Sometimes Abby was disgusted by Gabby and her ability to party her way through life without a care in the world. At other times Abby was jealous. The Grand-mere Betty had been born in France. Though the twins looks may be identical their personalities were nearly opposite. Abby was calm, reserved, and deliberate. She was never unpopular but not the life of the party either. Gabby had been let off by a limo and came in the house saying she had got a job her boss had just dropped her off. Hudson Quinn had hired Gabby because she could speak French. He enjoyed watching his new assistant walking to the door of her home. Walker Quinn- Hudson’s father called and talked about the Swanson deal and than paris. Hudson groaned inwardly. His father’s plan to buy out Marche d'Ete- a french chain of grocery stores- had become somewhat of a fixation with the older Quinn. They stood to make a profit but not more than they could make in smaller deals. But it would be the largest deal in Quinn’s Holdings. Colin had been Hudson’s perfect brother but he was no longer here and Hudson felt it was his fault. Abby had been unsuccessful in finding a new job and she had been trying for three weeks. Apparently there wasn’t a high demand for entry level fine arts majors with a background in data entry and fast food prep at the moment. Than Hudson- gabby’s boss- came pounding on the door. Thinking Abby was Gabby and threatening to fire her if she didn’t leave now with him to go to Paris. GWhen Abby got a hold of Gabby- she was upstairs suppose to be changing and packing - Gabby was in Tennessee about a ten hour drive away, on her way to mexico. Abby couldn’t let lose her job they would lose the house. So she had to pretend to be Gabby and hoped she could keep up the facade to save Gabby’s job. To Hudson Gabby was a teenage fantasy come true. He did believe that Abby was her twin Gabby but noticed things and than at the plane said “ Something is is strange about you tonight.” She had an unusual silence and studious nature and that was not usual from what Hudson knew of Gabby. She even moved with a new gate and she wobbled on her heels and seamed self conscious in her relatively modest dress. He wondered if she was under the influence . maybe she was afraid of flying. Abby was attracted to Hudson and his fleeting touch sent butterflies in her stomach and a spreading sensation of heat where Hudson’s fingertips had settled. She couldn’t account for why she reacted so strongly. As she went for a walk in Paris she felt Paris was magical. It was the closest Abby ever felt to stepping inside a dream. She wanted to share it with someone- Hudson.
I really enjoyed this book. I really enjoyed that Abby decided to take Gabby place and take Gabby’s place could so Gabby wouldn’t get fired. I didn’t really like the part where Hudson slept with some of his employees and even pick them with attraction in mind. I did like Hudson and Abby together and how they interacted. I also enjoyed watching them grow. I really liked the growth in Abby and Gabby’s relationship especially when Abby was hurting. I liked the way the author described places in Paris as I have been there. I wish I could rate this a 4.5. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.

Abby & Gabby are twins but are opposite in every other way. Abby is confronted by her sisters boss in a case of mistaken identity. She plays along as they need the income. On a business trip to Paris, Abby begins to fall hard for “boss”, Hudson, who doesn’t even know her real name. This story is a romance with just enough steam. The author does an excellent job setting the book in Paris. Cute story with good characters, even if I did not care for Gabby’s nonchalant attitude in the beginning.
Not for me this one, it sounded fun and I really wanted to like it, but it just didn’t hit the right spot. I couldn’t connect or care what happened to the characters, so unfortunately wasn’t as fun as I’d hoped.
This was a great romance for those who want a light read.
Abby, the responsible twin, accidentally gets caught up in trying to preserve her sister's job. In order to not lose their house, her twin needs to keep her job to ensure their mortgage on the house is paid. Therefore when Hudson Quinn comes knocking, Abby can't say no and jumps into Gabby's place at work. After all, Gabby is in Mexico and this could spell financial disaster for the twins. Abby soon finds out a billion-dollar job is on the line if she can't do her job and do it well...
I would rate this a four out of five. It was fun to read and the author did a great job of capturing France as well as the art. I felt I was there in spirit.

This book was a cute read but a little bit cliche which was not entirely a bad thing. I loved the detailed descriptions of the places in Paris. The story itself had a simple plot which was predictable but the end wasn't something I expected to happen in that way.
What I didn't like about this book are Hudson's father and Gabrielle. In the beginning, the father was painted as some kind of a bad guy but in the end, he was the perfect father. Gabrielle was also a mix of everything. I couldn't decide whether I liked her or not.
All in all, I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick, easy, romantic read with a HEA..
~ I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a sweet story. The romance between Abby and Hudson was fun, as was the descriptions of Paris. As frustrating as it was to watch Abby miss every opportunity to come clean, knowing it would inevitably blow up in her face, it was still a fun read. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a light, easy read with a guaranteed happily every after.
Hudson's concerned, his sexy-but-flaky new personal assistant is just another in a long line of terrible decisions and failures in his life. But he's working on the deal of a lifetime a deal that could change everything for him and he needs her help to close it. When I started reading I couldn't put it down. Avery Scott is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The intrigue of a twin swap sounded fun, and in the beginning seems to start off well.
Hudson wasn't a fantastic lead however, and the relationship between the twins seemed a bit cold considering the situation they were in.
I guess I did like that they got most of the issues sorted out and got their HEA.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading 'The Bad Twin' by Avery Scott.
Reading the book I could feel Abigail's panic about saving her house and have the money to pay the bills for both she and her twin. The author is very well adept and describing emotion so that the reader is right there in the moment with the characters.
The book is nicely paced and I couldn't protect where the story was going until the last few pages. That was a real treat.
I would recommend this book whole-heartedly to any fan of romance. I was provided a complimentary copy of the book by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I generally enjoy stories with twins that switch places or trade identities and I really wanted to like this one, but it had its ups and downs for me.
I really enjoyed the scenes that took place in Paris and the location details. The descriptions of artwork and the museums added to the ambiance.
However, for me the relationships fell flat. The twin switch was only partially believable and the “bad twin” was utterly unlikable. The twin relationship wasn’t really explored at all. The romance between Abby and Hudson was so-so. Overall I felt the romance and characters were flat.
Read this if you love romance in Paris and want to focus on the locations. For me, this book wasn’t very satisfying.
What Abigail (Abby) is confronted by her twin sister’s boss in a case of mistaken identity she has one of two choices: fess up or save her sister’s job by playing along. <---See good intentions.
Hudson is the internally tortured billionaire suffering self-induced penance for his family loss. Suffering between heartbreak and an uninterested passion for his work, he finds himself entranced with his personal assistant.
Add in one stunningly dreamy business strip to Paris, touristy attractions, confections, and gardens and you get a heroine falling fast for a guy who doesn’t even know her real name.
Abby’s quirky personality and “oops” moments in her deception were adorable, but I love that she grew stronger in her confidence as the storyline progressed and eventually added in tidbits of passion and snark.
As I would expect in a romance, the story carries just enough steamy moments without taking the book too far down the erotica path but rather focused on the character’s journeys and, of course, an HEA.
Avery Scott truly captured the otherworldly beauty of Paris in her words and the stunning pull of the romanticism of the city. The emotional journey from Hudson was stunning to witness and I just loved the ending.
I highly recommend this one as a feel-good romance with a little slow burn and angst
