This is a good reference book written by a lawyer that has worked with many businesses in trouble. It can be used as a how-to for those difficult times or as a way to prevent the difficult times. Thank you to the author for including many examples.

Owning your own business is something that many people dream about, and even carry out. But it isn’t always easy, and big problems can come, especially if you don’t have a lot of business experience. In You Can Save Your Small Business, William Manchee, J.D. provides information on the biggest pitfalls a small business owner can face.

The book is very informative. There are case studies and client stories that help communicate the point he is making. Nearly all the problems a small business can face that would put them in jeopardy of closing are addressed. The book goes beyond just pointing out the problems; it tells what needs to happen to avoid or correct them. There are many good tips and he encourages entrepreneurs to be well informed. Using the old adage “ignorance is bliss” as a defense won’t help you much when problems arise.

The book is meant to help rescue businesses already in trouble, but can be used to stay out of trouble, too. I recently started a small business after working in one for many years. In my life, I have seen some of the problems he outlines firsthand, and have heard of other businesses in the area facing others. I hope to avoid the rest and not see the others again.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
