When I read the blurb and saw that this series is based in my home state of New Jersey, I was excited to read it. Love on Beach Avenue was an alright read. This was an enemies-to-lovers romance and while I am not a major fan of them I still like to read them. There was an obvious tension between Avery and Carter-a mix of feelings, lust, and somewhat animosity. It was interesting to see how it would all play out and how the relationship would grow. I did like the family relationships on both sides. That was sweet. I am intrigued by Avery's sisters, Taylor and Bella and want to read their stories. Overall this was a fine read.
*SIGH* I loved this one from beginning to end! Avery and her sisters are wedding planners and Avery's best friend from college is getting married and wants her to plan her wedding and fit it in this summer. No problem except it also comes with her brother as her best man and Carter and Avery don't get along...until they do. This is a slow start and Carter doesn't believe in love but when he falls, he falls hard. This one was so, so, SO good. I cannot wait for the rest of the sisters to get their happy too.
**Received this ARC for review from the publisher via NetGalley**
Great start to the series! I loved the tension between Avery and Carter as they constantly tried to one-up each other while planning Ally's wedding. Although they frustrated each other, their interactions were amusing and they definitely had undeniable chemistry. I love how their story turned out, and I look forward to the stories of the other Sunshine sisters.
A man who was forced into caring for his sister when she was a young child and her best friend, who he views as a troublemaker, working together to plan his sister’s wedding? What could go wrong? Carter takes his brother/father role very seriously, and only wants the best. Unfortunately, he doesn’t believe Avery is that person. Avery has never liked Carter because he has always test her as if she was a nuisance.
She is a wedding planner, but he questions her authority at every turn. He is doing it intentionally, not only does he think he can do a better job, but he doesn’t think Avery can handle it. As more details of the wedding get completed they find themselves betting each other at every turn and getting to know the real people the other is.
Can two people who have hated each other most of their lives come together when it matters most? The chemistry between the two was palpable and you could tell that there was something just under the surface that neither wanted to admit.
I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more in this series. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
Avery is a wedding planner and believe in forever. Her best friend asked her to plan her wedding, one bad thing is bride older brother will help. Avery and Carter don't like each other and now he is trying to make different decision for his sister wedding than Avery. Some will say he is arrogant and make this to spite her. But, while reading this book, you can see, that he really knows his sister and wants her to be happy and have a perfect day.
While Avery and Carter plan Ally's and Jason's wedding, sparks fly and Avery realize that Carter is the one for her, her forever, but he doesn't want forever.
Storyline is awesome, characters in this book are great, and I'm saying, all of them, not only Avery and Carter.
Highly entertaining, sexy, fun and action packed journey filled with engaging and interesting charters, witty banter, emotional twists and tested loyalties. This is a great journey that is all about family, friends and the ties that bind and can sometimes frighten us. Great reading from beginning to end.
When Avery’s best friend from college asks her to be her wedding planner in peak wedding season with only a few months notice, she thought “no problem”. That is until she finds out her friends older brother Carter would be a thorn in her side for every decision leading up to the big event!
Avery and Carter are at odds throughout the wedding planning....until they realize there are feelings towards one another.
Love on Beach Avenue begins with conflict and frustration and builds into a great romance. Will it be just a summer romance or will they be able to overcome the emotional obstacles that lie in their way?
This is the first book of The Sunshine Sisters series, it’s a standalone. I really like this story and it gives an amazing start for the next few books of the series, the side characters are well developed, therefor gives me some good anxiety to read Bella, Taylor, Gabe, Pierce, not to mention sweet little Zoe!
This story is about Carter and Avery. Both of Carter’s parents died a long time ago, when he was just 19 years old. His life was uprooted and suddenly he was his little sister Ally’s guardian. Right there he vow to protected and take care of her. Which gave him a difficult personality, he was strict and sometimes control freak. But then, his sister decide to get married in 3 months and hire her best friend Avery to plan the wedding. He hated Avery and really didn’t trust her.
Avery is a premier wedding planner with her sisters Bella and Taylor in Cape May. She works very hard to grow her family’s business. Although now she is a different person, in the past she was a little wild while in college with her best friend Ally. Who isn’t different, right?
I enjoy a lot Avery and Carter’s banter and chemistry. It was nice to see how both of them overcome their dislike in each other, work together in Ally’s wedding, turn their relation from hate to love and basically bring the best in each other.
However, I really hate Carter from page one to nearly 60% of the book. He was soooo rude and disrespectful towards Avery that it made me hate him. You may dislike one person, but at least you need to respect their profession, specially if they are well known in business like Avery’s company was.
But give Jennifer a few pages and she slowly made me like him, just like the couples trope, from hate to love. And I really thought this wasn’t possible!
The couple needed to overcome their insecurities and their difficulties that life brought to them. Avery matured faster than he did, but good thing that he caught up with her quickly and it was epic!
Now that this is over, I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
Avery knows that her dreams of love and marriage are real and that the perfect man is out there for her but in the interim she is happy ensuring that the event planning business that she and her sisters manage ensure that every other bride gets their perfect day. Their schedule for this year is already packed but when her best friend Ally wants her help arranging the perfect day there is no way that Avery can say no even if that means that Carter, her brother and the Man of Honor, takes part in all the decisions that need to be made.
After the death of both their parents Carter was not only her brother but her guardian. He put aside his dreams for the future to ensure that Ally was happy and had everything she needed and her wedding day was going to be no different. He had always felt that Avery was a bad influence on Ally so he will let Avery plan the wedding but he is going to ensure that his choices are clear from the dress to the food so that Ally can have the wedding of her dreams.
They find themselves competing against each other about what is right for the special day and discover that their similarities far outweigh their differences but with the very different plans they have for the future can they ever be more than a fling?
This is a sweet and sexy story about love, family and deciding what and who you want in the future that is filled with hot chemistry, witty banter and great secondary characters.
I loved this story! I love a good enemies to lovers story and this one did not disappoint! I had to read it in one sitting!
Jennifer Probst has a talent for creating book worlds you can’t help but fall in love with. Her books funny, entertaining, and romantic. Love on Beach Avenue is no different. This trio of sisters is everything. Funny, quirky, some emotional baggage, and a whole lot of sass.
Carter and Avery butt heads from the start. Their push and pull was addicting. The bets they made were comical and their chemistry was off the charts. Carter is HOT and all kinds of nerdy, a plus in my book. They were the perfect couple to start The Sunshine Sisters Trilogy.
Absolutely loved this one! 5 stars for this one!
Meet Avery, oldest sister of the Sunshine's, trying to keep their parents wedding business the number one in Cape May NJ! When her best friend from college reaches out for her to plan her last minute summer wedding, of course she says yes! Unfortunately she didn't realize that her bff's brother Carter was part of the planning deal. Watch as these two battle it out in the wedding planning of Ally's special day. Their banter will have you laughing, add in his possessive dog Lucy, and her adorable niece Zoey, they round out the story and you will love it! Make sure you grab it asap!
This is a honest love story, this may be a enemies to lovers romance read but it is so much more. This story is also fun, sexy, hot and steamy and flirty. The characters Avery and Carter have such hot intense chemistry between them. This is an easy book to read the story just flows from the beginning to the very end. Another fantastic read from this author.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
This book is so good. Carter and Avery cracked me up. They were constantly going back and forth with one another. Can they get along for the sake of his sister, her best friend? Have to read this book to find out. I love this book. This was a first for reading one of Jennifer Probst book and I am hooked. I totally recommend reading this book. You definitely won't be disappointed. There are times she was a hot mess. And he was stubborn at times. I can't wait to read more of her books.
This book was a little hard for me to get into. Carter is 40 years old and taunts Avery like a 12 year old. Avery, in turn, literally sticks her tongue out at him. They behaved childishly rather than as true enemies.
Things start to heat up between them by 40% of the story, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out why. Yes, they are both attractive people, but the snipping and childish games hadn't let up at this point. Even his internal dialogue hasn't shown that his opinion of her has changed at all. And he is actually deceiving her until about 50% of the book, making her doubt herself and her abilities. That is very unattractive.
I thought Zoe, Bella's daughter, was adorable. Breanna, a flower girl at one of Avery's weddings was cute, if a little too precocious at times. Avery's sisters were interesting, even if Taylor did act a bit spoiled at times. The set-up for both their stories was done subtly enough to be intriguing without taking away from the main couple. (Though at times I was hoping for more distraction from Avery and Carter.) I'm definitely looking forward to Bella's story.
Overall, this was a classic Probst story. I'm just finding myself wanting different in light of the coronavirus.
I adore enemies to lovers romances and I enjoyed this , but it didn’t blow me away. I usually love the fact Carter and Avery have always hated/annoyed each other, which you know means they’ve always been attracted and are too stubborn to admit it, that’s the fun with these books watching their chemistry unfurl into passion, however I found nothing appealing about Carters character, he was a bully , patronising and not really charismatic the way I’d expect if you’re going to have a dominant male. The thing that annoyed me also is Avery never calls carter out on his behaviour when he is being an ass and he is an ass a lot. Also what kind of best friend doesn’t expect you to be part of her wedding but arrange it. But it has dogs, romance, some cute characters. An easy distraction but bugged me too much
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
Avery runs a successful wedding planning business on the Jersey shore (Cape May) with her sisters. She’s thrilled to learn her best friend is getting married and wants to use her services! She’s much less thrilled to hear she’s bringing her brother Carter along to help with the wedding planning.
Avery remembers Carter as a cold hearted, condescending robot. Carter remembers Avery as a flighty and wild party girl. Neither of them are interested in working together on the wedding plans.
I listened to this audiobook and the hours just flew by. I loved escaping to the shore without leaving home. I felt this was a great mix of mostly light with some real issues that the couple had to face as well. The audio narrators did a great job and I’m looking forward to the next books in this series!
Thank you to Montlake, Netgalley and Brilliance Audio for the advance reading and listening copies.
4.5 Stars for Love on Beach Avenue which book one in The Sunshine Sisters Series.
Wow what a great start to a new series!!!
This is a fun entertaining read with great characters and a great story, it has all the feels you want in a great book and it’s small town romance at its best.
Avery Sunshine runs Sunshine Bridal with her two sisters and it’s their job to make dreams come true, it’s their job to make the perfect wedding day and when her best friend announces her engagement she couldn’t be happier to make her day perfect, what she didn’t expect was to deal with the brides brother on a day to day basis and she certainly didn’t expect him to question every choice she put forward and more to the point she didn’t expect Carter Ross to be so hot!!!!!
Carter and Avery end up butting more than just heads as they get to know each other and feelings come to the surface but Carter has always said relationships are not for him will Avery be the woman to make him change his mind....
This book ticked all my boxes, I smiled, I laughed and at times I cried but most importantly I loved every minute of this fun small town romance and I can’t wait for the next visit to Cape May.
If you like a romance that delivers the perfect combination of humor, heat and heart, look no further. Add to that some delightfully winning characters, an epic love/hate relationship, banter and snark that will keep you in stitches, and an undeniable, fiery chemistry, and you have a captivating story that can’t be beat!
Avery Sunshine runs the family's wedding planning business with her sisters, Belle and Taylor, in the quaint beach-side town of Cape May. During the height of wedding season, Avery's best friend, Ally, asks her to plan her wedding, in only a few months. The topper on this wedding cake event? Ally's brother and Avery's nemesis, Carter Ross, is the man of honor and along for every step of the process. Oh joy.
Carter Ross is a man who needs to loosen up. His rigid, controlled life doesn’t allow for fun and spontaneity, and he has very clear ideas about what his sister wants for her wedding. Too bad they don’t fall right into place with Avery's plans. But maybe she's the one to get Mr. Boring Control Freak to ditch the suit and loosen up a bit.
Avery and Carter go together like oil and water, and what ensues is a hilarious game of who can best whom, until their spark ignites, consuming them and everything in their path. I had my doubts about how these two would get together without bloodshed somewhere along the way, but this gifted wordsmith managed it brilliantly.
Being a girl who had a spur-of-the-moment beach wedding in Grand Cayman after an ocean sting ray encounter, I loved this peek into the whole wedding-planning process. Now, this is the place where the average writer would bore me to tears with all the descriptions, but Ally's wedding plans held my attention as I devoured every word! Of course, the push, pull and chemistry between Avery and Carter certainly kept things lively.
Escape to the beach with this fantastic romantic comedy. Whether you're staying indoors, keeping your distance from others, or dipping your toes in the sandy shore, this one has everything you need for a spell-binding break from reality. Your funny bone will be tickled, your stress will fall away, and your heart will thank you with a happy smile, so don’t miss this phenomenal, humorous, heartfelt story!
4 Star Review Love On Beach Ave (The Sunshine Sisters #1) by Jennifer Probst
Book one in an exciting new series from Jennifer Probst and she is off to a good start. This was a fun and entertaining book that had me captivated from the first to the last chapter. I love the main couple Avery Sunshine and Carter Ross; they really were so right for one another if only they could see that.
Running Sunshine Bridal with her two sisters means she can make others’ dreams come true and she is excited when her best friend asks her to handle her wedding, that is until the bride’s brother Carter involves himself.
Carter and Avery butt heads time and again as they both struggle to take control of arranging the wedding. Complicating matters is the undeniable attraction that sizzles between them. Do they dare start something that they may not be able to finish?
There were times I laughed and times I cried, but above all I found it an enjoyable read that left me with a smile on my face.
