A good story with a hero and a heroine who are a bit resistant to each other, who spar verbally and fall in love along the way is one of my favourite things. Love on Beach Avenue started out strongly with this premise, Avery and Carter disliked each other for different reasons, some of them misplaced, but all their intentions were in the right place for Ally's dream wedding.
I enjoyed the first part of the back where Avery and Carter's passion was on show, both their beliefs and their feelings for each other. I was anticipating some terrible drama with the wedding and one of them trying to outdo the other and the wheels falling off. That was a big relief and kudos to the author for not falling into a cliche trap.
Having said that, once Avery and Carter finally gave in to each other, I missed the spark between them, the sparring and the little niggles. It became a bit too 'ordinary' for me. Fortunately there was enough in terms of waiting for it all to fall apart and how it was resolved to keep my interest. I'm also interested in the stories of Taylor and Bella, particularly Bella as it seems her story may have many of the staples I mention in my opening statement.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I wish this book had more (chemistry, humor, feel, you name it). All in all, it felt very average and not too engaging.
Both main characters were shallow. I felt like the author only scratched the surface with them.
Or maybe I'm over wedding planner romances and it's all my fault for requesting this book in the first place.
Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This could have been a decent romance if it weren't for the overbearing, controlling hero who acted more like his sister's father than an older brother. While I liked Avery's tough but sweet demeanor she had to act extra bitchy because Carter was acting like an pesky, picky man of honor. Just ruined the whole thing for me.
I really enjoyed this one! It had some of my favorite romance elements--enemies to lovers, brother's best friend, wedding planning, balance of sweetness and steaminess. The chemistry between the characters was excellent and plenty of fun with minimal angst. I've never read anything by Probst before but now I very much look forward to the next in this series!
This is a great book! I love the storyline, and for those who like a bit of steam with their romance, this book delivers. Very well written and the characters are so well developed you feel like you know them. I have never been disappointed by Jennifer Probst and her ability to weave storylines that feel real.
This is the first in a new series featuring sisters and their family owned wedding planner business in Cape May, NJ. This enemy turned lovers story centers around Avery Sunshine, eldest sister and Carter Ross, the brother of Avery's college best friend who just hired Avery to plan her wedding. The characters are all wonderful, although I did find Carter to be somewhat of a jerk through the first half. I found myself wanting to tell Avery to just walk away from him! He redeems himself by the final half though. I am eagerly waiting for Gabe and Bella's story...especially since it is rare to find a straight man working as a wedding planner and Gabe is Avery's assistant!
I was given a free ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest reveiw.
This is the first book in the sunshine sisters series! This is Avery and Carter book. Avery is a top wedding planner on Jersey shore working alongside her sisters making dreams come true! When her best friend announces her engagement Avery couldn’t be more thrilled! What’s not so thrilling as her demanding jerk of a brother who also just happens to be the man of honor! Carter takes a long much needed vacation to help his only family left sister plan her wedding! Even if that means taking over and knocking out the wedding planner since he knows his sister best! As this to fight about almost everything that spark of attraction turns into a huge flame! I definitely recommend reading this book it’s well worth the read! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
Love on Beach Avenue is a cleverly plotted enemies to lovers story about Avery, a wedding planner in business with her two sisters, and Carter, the brother of her best friend. It is flirty, sexy, steamy, funny and sensitive as these two adversaries come to see each other as adults while planning Carter’s sister’s wedding. The characters come to life through witty dialogue as they try to best each other through a series of bets. In short, this book is a joy to read...and there are teasers for future books about the sisters! I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.
