Short, creepy, intriguing tale. The creature is fascinating in its naivety and Lark is a strong, unafraid woman, who won't back down. Definitely recommend!

Did I ever read something like horror romance before? I'm not sure, but this story seems to fit the bill perfectly, and I loved it! The way the tension builds up - both in erotic and horrifying ways - is masterfully paved, and despite, or, thinking about it, actually because of the bloody outcome of the story it was totally satisfying.

Short, fun and icky! Lark lives all alone in an isolated cabin making clay figures to sell in town, which is a two day walk there and back. The winters are cold. Really cold. Maul has existed in this forest for lifetimes when he encounters Lark and the fact the she is in his forest is totally offensive to him. Maul's attempt to terrify Lark into leaving are fun, humorous and ultimately sweet and charming. Even with the icky part..., this is a fun book that I enjoyed. Maul made me smile, but I would like to suggest that maybe Maul go scare up a down comforter as an alternate solution to the issue at hand.

As a former literature student I found this story very interesting. I think it was well written, with the opening chapters setting the scene as an eerie, ghostly tale then flipping it on its head with dark romantic elements. I'm not sure who I'd recommend it to or if it was 100% my cup of tea but I would read other books by this author after finishing this one.
