I really enjoyed reading this the world building was what interested me from the start, I really enjoyed the characters and their struggles and I liked the use of magic in this world.
This was a pretty lengthy read that tackled some topics that can’t be pretty hard to write about. I think it’s a good way to get YA, or maybe even younger, to think about racism or discrimination, as the treatment of wraiths wasn’t too unfamiliar to the treatment of minorities in our current society. Some bits were good but I did find myself skim reading at times as I felt a little bored. Billy is introduced to us as a 10-year old boy, found some of the things he thought about, or even just some of his actions, weren’t really realistic for someone his age.
Overall it was okay, but I wouldn’t reread.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
