I did and could not get into this book 100%. Reason? It had too much stuff flying all over the chapters. I could not catch up with the storyline as much as I wish to.
It is a shame as the book sounded as something that I would read...
I ended up DNFing this one a few chapters into it despite wanting to really finish it. I don't know if I just wasn't in the mood for this type of book at the time or if there just wasn't enough spark to really have me dive into this world. It was an interesting concept though that just didn't resonate with me at the time of reading it.
LOVED IT!!!!!!!! A new take on an old story and it WORKS in EVERY way!! Thank you for something that made me want MORE!!
I love anything Witchy and Tides of Time is no exception! The Donovan Sisters reminded me so much of the Charmed Trio which I think suckered me in even more! I loved the fantasy element of the book with great inclusion of magic and prophecies, but I also enjoyed the romance element of the book as well. I think Luna Joya has done a fantastic job of knitting these two elements together to create a flawless and engaging read that contains heart, engaging characters and magic!
I just could not get into this book I tried 3 different times and I just couldn't do it. There was to much going on here. Just not my kinda book
Unfortunately, I'm not the right audience for this book.
It just didn't connect for me, but I can definitely see it delighting readers of Katie Macalister and Mary janice Davidson
This story was really good. It sucked me in from the moment that it began. Cami was a great character. You meet her and her sisters and are instantly curious about them. The connection she has with Sam is awesome. Their meeting was great. The sparks are there and you really wonder what is going to happen with them.
I am not a big reader of paranormal. I enjoyed the storyline and the way the paranormal elements were introduced. Nothing felt over my head or hard to believe.
I was completely vested in finding out what happened in this story.
The Donovan sisters are elemental witches who visit Sam’s restaurant and he is enamored by Cami. She meets him again when he takes his dog into the clinic where Cami works at a veterinarian. They develop a romance while exploring the mysterious death of an old Hollywood starlet. Plenty of magic, family and love envelop this romance. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I liked this and it was a quick and easy read. The combination of magic and mystery is just right. I thoroughly enjoyed the investigation into Sunny’s death. I also liked learning about the different magical abilities of each of Cami’s family members. Sam and Cami make a great team of researchers although the love/lust at first site was a little over the top. In some places, I was hard to understand why Cami doesn’t trust her instincts, I mean, if she has an evil ex-boyfriend after her, why doesn’t she trust her protective amulet when it tells her she’s in danger. Also, she meets Sam then one day later her crazy ex has broken into his place. That was a little hard to believe. Another stretch was that things were missing from her apartment and her lock wasn’t working but she never suspected her ex.? Other than those slight imperfections, I enjoyed this and would like to read the next book in the series. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
An insta-love with a lot of steamy romance. The secondary plot was pretty interesting, although I didn't care for it at first, since it happened years in the past, and solving that mystery would have absolutely no affect in the present. But it did become more interesting once I got more involved in the story,
I'm no psychology expert, but if Cami left an abusive ex barely about a year ago, I think she should've been more hesitant to begin a new relationship. But she jumped right into this one.
Their magical powers and usage were intriguing, but from a fantasy perspective, I wish there'd been a lot more detail on how it works when they used it. I liked how Cami's family was there for her through thick and thin. Their sisterly relationships were really heartwarming.
Basically, the book had some issues, but they were easy to overlook. It was a good light read.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
combine witchy goodness with an old hollywood cold case and you have the makings of tides of time a debut paranormal romance from luna joya. this story was so readable, cami and sam are just so compatible and nerd out to silver screen history while enjoying some steamy sexytimes.
couple all of that with some elemental magic and witch families and mysterious prophecies and you have a book that is just simply a fun summer read. the secondary characters are all fantastic and i believe that there is more to come in this series, as the sisters will all probably find their match.
**tides of time will publish on august 20, 2019. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/city owl press in exchange for my honest review.
An excellent start for a new urban fantasy series. I appreciated the style of writing, the fleshed out cast of characters and the world building.
I look forward to reading other books in this series.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
This is the first in this series and it starts off quite well. It has enough romance, mixed with science fiction and mystery, to keep you turning the pages. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.
