This was a cute enough book but it felt a little anticlimactic and like it lacked something special. I did enjoy the cast of characters and the happy ending though.

It's almost Christmas and Jess's life is looking up: she's got a new job in London, a cheap room in her friend's Notting Hill house, and some serious vibes with her cute new flatmate, Alex. But after she leaves town for a few days with friends, she comes home to find Alex already involved with another of their housemates. Oh, well. Still, Jess and Alex become friends over the next year. They take long walks through the city, exploring neighborhoods and looking for cheap and interesting things to do. Jess just has to pretend she doesn't think of Alex romantically at all.

Alex isn't sure how he got into a quasi-relationship with Emma, his neighbor, but he really isn't interested in dating anyone right now. He recently broke up with someone and he's busy retraining as a nurse. So a friendship with Jess is all he needs. Isn't it?

This is a sweet, witty story about second chances and figuring out what you really want from life. Jess and Alex narrate alternating chapters, and both have distinctly funny and honest voices.

Such a disappointment.

From the beginning, I had difficulty connection with Jess. She lives in her own little bubble and comes across as incredibly naive. Sadly, I would categorize her as TSTL. If I had trouble connecting with Jess, then the romance element between her Alex was so dull and uninspired that I had trouble even finishing the book. Nothing at all interesting about the characters or story.

This book kind of surprised me in some ways, because I was expecting two main things: a book focused on December/Cozy/Wintry/Christmas, and romance ... and I didn't really get either of those things. The book covers the relationships between four flatmates over the course of a year, and touches lightly on the romantic entanglements therein (which I was fine with, I don't always need the thermometer to blow up with all the steam).

Overall this was super cute and super fun, even if it's not what I was expecting. I've heard really good things about the audio, and wouldn't even mind checking it out myself (I love me a good reread via audio!)

Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow Books for the gifted book and opportunity to read and review it prior to its publication date! This in no way affected my review, all opinions are my own.

This sweet little book was delightful. The first thing I want to tell you...you don’t have to read this one around Christmas...it is not a Christmas book at all. Basically the premise is two flat mates meet in December and the story spans one entire year.
.
There were so many things I enjoyed.
.
1. Jess has this delightful obsession with Instagram...I relate 😂.
2. Alex and Jess’s walks around London. I was able to fall in love with the city through those walks.
3. The bookish peek into Jess’s job ♥️.
.
I would highly recommend this one to those romance lovers who want zero steam.
.
Heartwarming, heartfelt and happy.
.
We Met In December is out now my friends.

I really wanted to love this one! Unfortunately I couldn't get into it and it definitely was a drag at times. I love a good UK book but this one just didn't do it for me. I think I went in with the wrong expectations that it would be a holiday rom com but it was a lot darker than that.

This is a soft, slow burn romance that reminded me of The Flatshare and One Day in December. Like both books, it's set in contemporary London. Like The Flatshare, the romance is between two roommates and one is a male nurse. Like One Day in December, the day they first meet they immediately connect, but forces keep them apart. In both books, the characters pursue other romantic relationships while orbiting each other.

This book lacked much in the way of tension and the relationship between the two main characters grows more as a friendship with attraction that they won't act on. It's very will-they-or-won't-they, but it does have an HEA. I'd recommend it for people who liked those other two books and who don't mind if the main characters are in other relationships (no cheating) at times.

Content Warnings: grandmother is hospitalized, her dad isn't in the picture and her mom is a bit of a narcissist

I liked Jess and Alex I liked the winter setting even though I wanted it to be more Christmas I liked the setting it in London and the roommates but I didn’t not like the two person POV in the chapters

This wasn't really my cup of tea. It was a little silly and I really didn't care about any of the characters. However, I do not think I'm the target audience for this book. If you are into 20-somethings sharing apartments and having relationship drama, pick this one up!

My first holiday(ish) read this year was We Met in December by Rosie Curtis. The book wasn’t really as Christmasy, as I hoped it might be. It follows Jess through her first year in London as a resident, starting in December.

Jess, at 29 is now following her dream and moving to London. She got lucky being able to move into a house-share that her friend Becky put together with four others. Night one kicks off with a Christmas dinner celebration where Jess meets Alex, one of the other flat mates. They only share a conversation but as far as Jess is concerned the connection is clear. She starts planning how they will knock down the wall between them to spend more time together.

But when Jess returns from a two-week Christmas holiday, she finds Alex has started dating another housemate, Emma. Jess has to face a year of living with the man of her dreams.

Overall the book was ok. I got a lot of One Day in December vibes while reading. It was pretty predictable (as expected) but I also found it very repetitive. My favorite part of the novel was the setting, London. Jess and Alex, explore the city by walking. I felt as though it was an extra character throughout, and all the descriptions had me swooning and wanting to visit!

Jess and Alex both needed a fresh start.

After finding her boyfriend cheating on her, Jess left her secure job to follow her dream of working in publishing. She left her quiet, seaside town and her gran, for a shared home in Knotting Hill. There, she met Alex, who was also starting anew. After losing his father, Alex abandoned his law career to retrain as a nurse. Soon thereafter, his fiancee broke off their engagement. Though Alex wasn't looking for a relationship, Jess couldn't help falling for him.

This was absolutely delightful, but also drove me batty (in a good way). I had such a great year with Jess and Alex. I loved watching their friendship take root and blossom, but I was also shipping them so hard. The bad timing and missed opportunities drove me up a tree, but I do think it was for the best. These two really needed that year to heal from their pasts, while becoming better acquainted with who they were becoming.

Curtis rounded out this tale of will-they-won't-they with holidays and time spent with family and friends. The secondary characters really added to my enjoyment, and I liked watching them grow and change right along side Jess and Alex. And, seriously, thank you, Rosie Curtis for giving me an epilogue, and it was good one.

Overall, I enjoyed spending a year with Jess and Alex. There were ups and downs and in-betweens, and I was thrilled to see how far they came since they had met in December.

I couldn't put this book down as I felt like I was living in the big, massively expensive, house in the ritzy part of London. I even liked how the roommates were more fleshed out as the months progressed. I will recommend this as a book club selection in 2020.

We Met in December is a light-hearted quick read that is a good palate cleanser after a deeper read. I found Jess and Alex to be a fun couple when they finally did get together. The book did seem to be a bit long at times and I just wanted it to get with it.

Curtis is a quick witted writer that I found enjoyable and will look for future works from her.

3.5 stars (because of the rambling at times) rounded up to 4.

Oh, the challenge of unrequited love. Jess not only is attracted to Alex, but she has to endure living next to him with the knowledge he has a 'friends with benefits' relationship with another flatmate.

Lovely read where the heroine ultimately gets her guy. And a great way to spend my time at night.

Really enjoyed this book. I loved the way it was written. The storyline was cute, and believable, The characters were relatable and precious. It had me laughing so hard. I very much enjoyed this story, and how the author wrote it, it was done really well. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. I received a free e-arc in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I am DNFing this at 44% after a week of just being bored. The storyline is repetitive and there are just too many characters to keep track of while the storyline is jumping around. I understand this is supposed to follow the main characters for a year and WILL obviously jump around, but there are other books that do this type of thing better quite frankly.

Who doesn’t love a sweet romantic comedy? This is one of those books that you sit somewhere comfortable with fuzzy socks, blanket, a warm beverage, and just breath in and enjoy. An added bonus, it is set in London. Who doesn’t love a romantic comedy set in London?!

Jess decides to move away from her home to the big city. She is lucky enough to have a friend who has inherited a big house and is renting rooms out for relatively cheap. There is one rule, no relationships between roommates. Jess is fine with that and then she meets Alex. He was a lawyer who decided to chuck it all and become a nurse after his father’s illness. Lucky for Jess, his fiance dumped him because of it. There is instant attraction and we all know there has to be a few bumpy times but we also count on that happy ending.

Did I cry a bit at the end? Is the Pope Catholic? I found myself smiling a whole lot while reading. Jess is a very lovable character and Alex wasn’t too bad himself. Jess’s circle of friends were great and it rounded out a wonderfully written story. This was just the book I needed to escape with and I will look forward to more joy from Rosie Curtis in the future.

Thanks to Netgalley and William Morrow for a copy of this delightful book.

I do enjoy slow burn romances, but this one moved way to slow. I did want to know how it all played out so I read the last part of the book very quickly to see how it played out. Satisfying ending for rom-com fans!

On the verge of turning 30, Jess is venturing out on her own for the first time. Taking a chance with a new job she decides to move to London after a friend offers her a room in a house she just inherited in the sought-after Notting Hill neighborhood. Alex, one of Jess's new roommates, gives her instant butterflies when they meet for the first time just before the holidays. Jess can't seem to get him out of her mind but when she returns home from her New Year ski trip early one morning she finds one of her other roommates sneaking out of Alex's room. Not knowing she is aware of his friends with benefits relationship with Emma, Alex decides to become Jess's personal tour guide showing her around London and all its secret spots while the two become each other's confidants. Now Jess has to squash her feelings for the man of her dreams in order to keep living her dream life in the city in a house she can actually afford. As the book progresses over the course of a year this dual narrative will have you feeling all the warm and fuzzies. Rosie Curtis has written the perfect feel good story for the upcoming cold weather. Grab yourself a hot chocolate and cozy up with this book immediately.

Adorable and fun rom-com read. The dual perspectives keep it intriguing as you see what's going on in both characters' heads. Super fun, indulgent holiday read. Beyond adorable.
