I had always been curious of the ayurvedic diet and its benefits to one's health. This book was a perfect introduction for a neophyte like myself and it led me to explore other titles on the subject.
I was really impressed by Ali Cramer's Modern Ayurveda. It is not the first book I have read on the subject of ayurveda and Ali's take on it is refreshing and honest. She admits that we aren't all going to be perfect at following all the recommendations of ayurveda all the time. She acknowledges the fact that changing our diets is sometimes not a straighforward thing, that our finances and our social situations may hinder that. I love her advice to take every meal with gratitude for what it provides. At first I thought her 7 day kickstart program was a bit too demanding. Doesn't she realize that people have families and obligations, I thought. But then she admitted that everyone was not going to do all the things she suggested. She encouraged readers to try the week over at times and try to follow it more closely. So actually the kickstart week is not a single week that is supposed to set you on the right path for life but an invitation to try different practices. There is a list of helpful links in the back as well. I definitely have to check some of them out. I recieved an ebook galley of Modern Ayurveda from Net Galley but I definitely plan on adding a print copy to my library.
This is a wonderful overview and start to understanding Ayurveda for those of us that are new to the concepts. I enjoyed reading the different techniques and ways to incorporate this into my life.
Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. .My opinion is my own.
I admit I did not know much about Ayurveda but having heard it constantly in the media wanted to give this book a try to introduce myself to the concepts and practices. As a vegan and one who leads a healthy lifestyle I am open to incorporating Ayurveda into my self care routine.
This is the "definitive" guide to Modern Ayurveda for all of us beginners. The author so well defines the practices here of techniques, recipes, and remedies you can easily learn to incorporate them into your health routine. The first part describes what it truly is, then the author goes into a wonderful plan called "kickstart" for us to try the methodologies. Throughout the book are the pictures, recipes, meal plans, activities and helpful remedies,
I enjoyed reading this and will use it as a self care guide . I highly recommend this book for all who are looking to increase their good health and have healthy practices in their lives. 5 star for a excellent guide .
This is a wonderful book that guides you to practicing ayurveda in your every day life and bring balance to it. It is filled with recipes and ideas to help you find balance in all areas of your life.
I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy free of charge. This is my honest and unbiased opinion of it.
