I tried reading this as a read-aloud with my 8 year-old daughter as a bedtime book, but she asked me to stop and find a different book. She found it very boring and to be honest, I did too. I tried to finish my ARC for the sake of a review, but ended up merely skimming it because it just wasn't my cup of tea at all. Both of us tend to enjoy this type of book, but we found very slow-paced and just not interesting. We didn't particularly like Meena or care about her desire to be a superhero. Sorry, this was a miss for us. Two stars for "it was okay."
