This is what Colleen Hoover does best. She gives you tangible books. Books that are textual. Books that make you physically feel things. Its a perfect mix of the emotional and body reaction. This is such a powerful read. Not in a mind-blowingly new subject, but an earnest exploration of the human condition, spirit and changes life throws.

Regretting You is just the opposite of the title. It's a lesson in love, learning to forgive and understand it isn't always easy.

Wow, guys. This one's gonna stick around for a while.

I really don’t know what Colleen Hoover’s secret is. Her prose is straightforward and her plots (with the exception of a few) aren’t full of twists and turns. But every single time I read one of her books, I CANNOT put it down. I feel every emotion, usually binging it in one or two sittings. .
Regretting You is unique in that it’s told in alternating mother/daughter points of view. Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara, have a complicated relationship that grows more complicated when Chris, Morgan’s husband and Clara’s father, is suddenly killed in a car accident. His death exposes long-buried secrets that have heartbreaking consequences. Reeling from grief, each finds comfort in unexpected places, leading to two compelling love stories. But the real love story is between mother and daughter, as they navigate their relationship and their new life.

This was a big winner for me! This is classic CoHo and is sure to appeal to her huge fan base, as well as attract new ones. Releases December 10 from Montlake @amazonpublishing. I recommend clearing your schedule, because you’ll want to read this one straight through.

Colleen Hoover is a master storyteller and Regretting You is full of reasons why. The way she connects you to her characters like they’re apart of you is what keeps me coming back to everything she writes. How life takes a turn at a moment and the choices that come from those are throughout and they are endearing, complicated, heartbreaking and moving! I love the feels this brought out in me (both good and hard) and will tell anyone who will listen how this needs to be on their tbr! Amazing!

Regretting You is a fantastic book by Colleen Hoover. It's a young adult/contemporary romance, and it is just beautifully written. Colleen Hoover is the kind of writer that can weave a great story and keep readers interested and invested.

There are multiple interwoven stories in this book, exploring parent/child relationships, young love and a second chance at love. It centers around mother and daughter, their fractured family, and rebuilding trust and love.

While there are two romances in this book (mother and daughter each have a romance in the plot), the parent/child relationship is the best part of this book. That is not so say the romances aren't great - they are beautiful - but the mother/daughter relationship is the true star here.

This book portrays strong women, a mother that will do anything to make sure her daughter has the best start possible, and a lot of personal growth for both Morgan and Clara.

Colleen Hoover has written a well-balanced story that takes you from heartbreak to joy, and makes you experience a gamut of emotions. From grief, betrayal and heartache to forgiveness, love and new starts, you see it all. You won't regret reading this book.

Another great book by Colleen Hoover!

Regretting You had me so emotional. My heart was so full and so broken on multiple occasions.....many times all in the same chapter!

I really enjoyed these characters and their journey through this tragic time of their lives. One decision has the impact to destroy so many lives and I felt their pain so deeply within my heart.

I love the way the story is told from the perspective of mother and daughter. I could totally relate to both views. My heart hurt for both, as well as several other characters.

I love the love in this book! We get it from several people in more than one way. There is tons of romance and so much love in this book.

I am definitely walking away from this book with a happy heart but I wish we got a little more at the end. It was kind of abrupt and I would have loved to get just a little more of how they managed to overcome certain situations. It's hard to explain without spoiling. Overall, I loved it and would definitely recommend it.

I really enjoyed this one from Colleen Hoover. It's probably one of my favorites by her ... though I'm used to her putting twist endings in, and she didn't do that here. It made things more realistic, but I'll be honest, I feel like I was waiting for a plot twist that never came. However, that has to do with my familiarity with her novels; anyone reading this that isn't too focused on the author wouldn't have thought anything by it. I really enjoyed that this was a mother/daughter love story more than it was a love story between teen and teen, mom and family friend... that sort of thing. It was really sweet, and I definitely enjoyed going through it! Far less cheesy than the average Hoover.

Thank you NetGalley, Colleen Hoover and Montlake Romance for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review.

I haven’t read everything Hoover has to offer, but what I have read left me speechless and heartbroken so I was thrilled to be allowed to read this novel before it was published! I found this book unlike the few other novels I have read by Hoover, but it was a really nice change. This book did break my heart in a few different ways but I actually enjoyed that this book had a big family element and we realize that love is amazing and having a partner is the dream, but your kids will always be just as important, if not more. I loved seeing this book through both Clara and Morgan as they go through this tragedy and try to figure out their love lives through it all. They each have different battles, but letting love in seems to be a family trait. This is one I would definitely recommend. I loved it!

Out December 10th!

"Sometimes you have to walk away from the fight in order to win it."

I've read over 2000 books and I can honestly say this is the first book I've read like this. The alternating POV is mother/daughter. Other than the backstory that brings us to the present, once the daughter is 16 yrs old both POV's run parallel. The author put me inside their heads, and I knew things they didn't share with each other. I thought my head was gonna explode! 🤯

I devoured this story. It pulled me in immediately and when I learned what I learned, I didn't know how to handle the information. I did kinda see it coming, like a train wreck, looking down the tracks and knowing it was gonna crash, but unable to look away. I was shaking my head, talking to myself, saying no, No, NO!

I felt their confusion and pain. I telepathically provided advice and virtual hugs. I didn't really do a damn thing, but at the same time, I felt so proud of these strong women who got knocked down more than once and kept getting back up. Putting myself in their shoes left me mentally rocking in a corner.

"I wonder if I can somehow separate the anger from the love." I felt this statement down to my soul. The author gave me a peek into a window that had me outraged one minute, broken the next, and finally, overflowing with too much love to contain. I guarantee that I won't be forgetting or regretting my time with these amazing characters. Well done, Colleen Hoover. 💔

Regretting You is another winner by Colleen Hoover. I am not usually a romance reader but I am hooked on her books. This book will make you want to scream, at both the mother and the daughter, as they go through a traumatic time. The daughter seems older beyond her years. Luckily for her she develops a support system through a new boyfriend. The mom has her own possible support system through an old high school friend but is so afraid to use it. You will cheer for both the mom and the daughter as they struggle through their issues. Highly recommend this book especially if you have a daughter.

Colleen has blown me away yet again with this novel! Her ability to mix her genres and pack so much into a standalone always amazes me which is why she is a one-click go to Author for me. Regretting you as with any CoHo book is best going in blind, then you can read and really feel what the characters are going through.

The novel centres around Morgan, who we see at 17, but the majority of the book she tells her story as a 35 years old woman faced with one of life's biggest challenges. We follow her journey of navigating this event alongside her daughter Clara who is 17 and trying to figure out what life is all about when her world is thrown upside down.

Colleen's writing as ever is passionate, has clarity and speaks volumes whilst saying so little. She just has this skill of sucking you in and really making you feel what her characters are going through every step of the way. I am in awe of the twists and turns the story took and how the smallest of things that you may or may not notice as you read culminate to be some of the most significant elements of the story and this to me is pure talent at her craft as an Author.

What I love about Colleen is her stories always dig down to the heart of the human race, its real, it's raw and it's relatable. Her characters could be you sister, your best friend, your neighbour and I love that the connection to them is front and centre in Regretting You.

I always find myself at a loss of words when it comes to reviewing books that hit my soul hard. It typically happens when I read Mrs. Hoover's books. This one is no exception. No matter what words I use to try to express my thoughts and feelings I can't do this book justice.

This book is full of love, loss, mending, finding who you are, family, friendship, trust... I think you get the point. There is so much wrapped up in this book. I found myself lost in the story of these two women who have lost so much, but they forgot what all they still had.

The writing and telling of this story is everything. It's told in the best way possible. There is no way it could be told any other way. The characters are well developed. The story flows. The plot is heavy. I was completely lost in these characters and their journey.

I don't know how Hoover does it time and time again. Her writing and creativity blow my mind with each book. Even if you don't connect to any of her books on a personal level, there is always an element to her stories that will grab you and not let go. Her books always tend to stay with me for long after I have finished them. This one is no different.

Morgan’s teenage mistake has led to the best thing in her life. Her daughter Clara. When Claras father and Morgan’s husband, Chris tragically dies in a car accident, Clara and Morgan have to find a way to grieve, but also coexist. Tensions have always been high between them, but the loss of her father throws Clara into a whirlwind of acting out.

This was a beautiful story of mother/daughter relationships. I was definitely able to relate at times, because I think I have always been harder on my mom than on my dad, and she has always been harder on me than my brothers. I felt for Clara, but also wanted to smack her at times. I can’t imagine all the pain Morgan was going through (no spoilers!) Overall, Colleen Hoover did it again. This book will make you happy, sad, and all the feelings in between. You will hate the characters at times, but root for them at others. I highly recommend this book.

This book made me mad and I can’t say exactly why. It was very depressing through majority of it. I cried a lot and I feel like there wasn’t much light at the end of the tunnel with redeeming my sad feelings. Or hurt feelings. I guess I rated it a 4 because it sucked me in. It made me feel way too emotions and I felt betrayed and angry and sad and hurt and everything the characters felt. That makes for a book good if it can stir so much up. . But I also wanted to slap the characters. S. The daughter annoyed me. I get she’s a teenager but for someone who was supposedly well mannered and behaved and a good kid she sure flew off the handle and acted like a complete ass super quick. Regardless of what happened to cause it. The middle of the book completely annoyed me. The beginning and ending were decently good tho. Honestly not my favorite of Colleen Hoover. I just wanted to characters to stop avoiding so much and speak. It drove me nuts! Edited to add— this wasn’t as much of a romance story as I thought it was going to be. It focused more on the tragedy the family faced. I enjoyed it. I just wish it was a little more light and not so heavy

Regretting You by Colleen Hoover is much different than the authors previous books. I honestly thought this one would be another romance, but it isn’t. It’s a women’s fiction novel about a mother and daughter who must come together after tragedy strikes their lives. Told in Hoover’s prose, this is a poignant, unforgettable read that will teach you valuable lessons about forgiveness and healing. It’s also bound to bring tears to your eyes.

One thing that stand out most to me when it comes to Colleen’s novels is that she has this special touch where she puts seemingly inconsequential pieces into a story that are actually very powerful. You may not realize it at first but when you think back you can see it. For example, Miller asking Clara to prom and the little things he does throughout the story that really leads up to it (I CRIED). These pieces are just so powerful and can be found throughout all her novels which is why I am always reading her releases.

All in all, I love how Colleen can write in a myriad of genres and slay every book. It’s nice to have an author that you can go to for all your reading needs and this is exactly what you get with Colleen Hoover. This one in particular is told in dual point of views between Clara (the daughter) and Morgan (her mother) as they navigate a new way of life when someone they love passes away tragically. Secrets unfold, drama ensues, and the two must really learn to live in their new reality with a lot more on their plate than just the tragedy. It’s a sad book but one that also heals. It’s not a book that will make you cry the whole way though, but one that will make you feel for the characters. I loved this book, I love Colleen’s unique writing style, and I recommend it to all women!

By a solid margin, this is my favorite Colleen Hoover book in quite awhile. Longtime readers of her books will find more in common with her earlier stories than the more recent in this book. While it's definitely not YA, half the story is told by Morgan's teenage daughter, and this might be part of why it reads like an older Hoover book. This is one that is going to slam readers with emotions. Colleen Hoover has never been a writer that's afraid to just GO THERE- I think there are scenarios that might read as melodramatic if written by other authors, but Hoover leans in and just delivers the story. Much of this book is about the messiness of love and relationships- be they romantic or familial- and it was one that I just couldn't put down. This will be an absolute hit!

From my blog: Always With a Book:

I still consider myself to be a newbie to the Colleen Hoover fan club, having only read three of her books, but having absolutely loved those three. I do know that when I pick up one of her books, I am probably going to be gutted, emotionally wrecked and doing some ugly crying at least once or twice...and I am totally fine with that. I think it's great that she has that ability to make you feel so deeply in a book and believe me, this book is no exception!

As soon as I started this book, I was immediately hooked. I love that this author has such a way of creating her characters that you are so attached to them. You feel this connection to them where you almost bond with them and can not stop thinking of them. This is absolutely a binge-worthy type of read where you will not want to do anything but keep reading, despite the fact that you will be utterly devastated a time or two - keep those tissues handy!

The emotions that Colleen Hoover is able to evoke out of a book is nothing short of a miracle. She deals with grief and how we all handle it differently. She deals with the mother-daughter relationship so beautifully and so true. I have a good relationship with my mom and I've always had one, but I could see in Morgan and Clara's relationship the strain and the tension and it felt so real...there wasn't anything about this relationship that felt untrue at any point. And the biggest takeaway from this is that communication is really the key to any good relationship!

This book just might be my new favorite of the ones I've read so far from Colleen Hoover. I do plan at some point to go back read her other books but she is definitely a must read for me as I know I can count on her to deliver a unique, character driven story that will steal your heart. Definitely put this one on your list if it isn't already on it...it's absolutely worth the read!

Regretting You just made it’s way into my top 3 Colleen Hoover books. I loved it so much. It was a beautiful story with many different themes. It was a mix of young adult and contemporary romance. It’s one of those books that you can’t put into one box.

This book felt like I was reading 3 separate stories at once, yet they came together seamlessly. It was the story of a mother and teenage daughter and their changing relationship. The story of young love. And the story of a grieving woman navigating an adult relationship while looking for answers.

I know that sounds mismatched and kind of vague but it needs to be. As a matter of fact, PLEASE don’t read the blurb to this book. I didn’t, and I’m so glad I didn’t. I feel like it gives so much away that is much more impactful if you don’t know what direction the story will take.

I really loved the romances in this book, but my favorite part was the mother/daughter relationship. Morgan and Clara go through so much, but they go through it together. Morgan is a mom who will do anything to protect her daughter. She’s selfless, unwavering, and so strong. I loved her so much. And I also loved watching Clara grow change. Sometimes life throws a lot at you, and all you can do is get through it. And get through it she does.

This is one of my favorite Colleen Hoover books, and I have no doubt it will make my favorites list for the year. It was a beautiful journey, that was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once. It was emotional, real, raw, and made me feel so much.

This is a book about grief, betrayal, and heart break. But it’s also a story about love, forgiveness, and moving forward. Life isn’t easy. But there are people in your life that make it easier and all around better. Regretting You is a captivating and refreshing story of a mother and daughter. It’s a story about all different kinds of love and I adored it. A new five star favorite.

This epic tale of family with teenagers, adults and infants as well as an elderly grandfather has a backbone of honesty and truth that permeates the whole story.

Don't be mistaken, the fact the truth and honesty are withheld, is the main source of disharmony throughout. However, nothing is more heartbreaking than when the many truths eventually come to light.

The initial 'truth' is fairly predictable but how Morgan manages that truth is both devastating and courageous further risking her already strained relationship with Clara, her teenaged daughter. Ultimately Morgan will do anything to protect Clara from the truth and its devastating effects.

Even so, Clara makes a series of bad decisions as she stumbles through her new 'normal'. With Miller Adams, the forbidden bad boy, at her side she navigates life as best she can.

This telling of a family's grief, and ultimately their love, in all its forms is truly heartbreaking and uplifting. I thoroughly admire the character that Morgan displays. All of the decisions she makes are the right ones for her and Clara but they wouldn't be the right ones for me and I'm hoping, that somewhere, there are deleted scenes that would give me the answers that I believe are missing.

These 'missing answers' in no way detract from this remarkable story which beautifully illustrates that love can be long lasting, surviving many bumps along the way. That love often requires sacrifice and sometimes suffering in its journey.

In Regretting You, I'm sure that Colleen Hoover truly convinces the reader that, in fact, love conquers all!

This is my first book by Colleen Hoover and it had me riveted. I totally gave in to lazy Sunday and read this in one day! I couldn't put it down. I was especially invested in the dynamic between Miller and Clara. Every time they were together I was filled with emotion. Morgan was more difficult for me to read. I think mostly because her character was written so well that I could feel her grief and especially the feeling that comes with feeling like you lost yourself in your role as a mother. I think most moms if not all have been there and I could feel her sorrow.
