Overall, I really enjoyed this book! It was definitely as heartbreaking as it was relatable because what women doesn’t lose their self a little when raising their children? A lot of the dreams, hobbies, and aspirations you have get put behind the needs of your children and so I could totally relate to Morgan in that way. Having married and had my children very young. As far as a romance this was a very light read. It was definitely more of an emotional drama with almost no steam. Overall, I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

There’s a lot of ground covered in this one regarding life experiences, mistakes, forgiveness, regrets and choosing yourself first. I couldn’t put it down. The POVs alternate between mother and daughter and I loved reading both of their perspectives. Anyone will be able to relate to any aspect of this book because something will resonate from within. There's a lot of emotions tied to what these women are going through, especially during a really difficult time. This puts them at odds with one another although neither is the actual culprit. I felt it all and there were times where I admired these characters and conversely, wanted to turn my head away from the oncoming train wreck. They are humans and they are flawed. They make mistakes, but they learn from them, too. And there are moments where the story is just plain funny and witty. It has all of the trademarks of Colleen Hoover's writing that keeps me turning the pages.

Another standout read from Colleen Hoover! As usual, she breaks your heart into a million pieces and then puts it all back together again in the best possible way. I loved the mother-daughter relationship between Morgan and Clara, and the very real portrayal of grief, family relationships, and the struggles both create. A must read that's my second favorite CoHo read next to It Ends With Us and All Your Perfects. Colleen creates amazing characters, (Jonah and Miles were totally swoon worthy), emotional, beautiful stories, and books that stick with you long after you read them. Don't miss this latest release from this amazing author! I will continue to read everything she writes!

I know this opinion will separate me from the populous but for me, this was a very run-of-the-mill read. I didn’t hate it, I kind of liked it but I definitely didn’t love it even though I wanted to.

I found the start to this story interesting with the four characters of the past, I liked that more than the present, initially. However, by 22% I was finding it so slow that I was willing SOMETHING to happen. I actually got my wish with the dropping of an emotional bomb. Am I sadistic that I was grateful for that? Whatever, I welcomed it and enjoyed the story a bit more from there.

This was a story of families and relationships intertwined and connected in the most complex way, a really unsatisfying way. It was about two generations, mother and daughter, father and son, sister and sister and husband and wife. I hated some of the characters, and I was supposed to. I much preferred the narrative around Morgan and Jonah than I did of Clara and Miller. I felt frustrated with Clara and Miller but I know their actions and behaviours were fitting for 17/18 year olds.

I struggled with some of the instant connections, some of which were supposedly built on older feelings but I didn’t buy into some elements of this, especially with the younger characters. There were other parts of the story that I wanted more of, like Gramps.

Overall, I’ve come out of REGRETTING YOU feeling a bit ‘what was that explosion and why is everything now peachy’. I needed more tangibility in the longer term but I appreciated some of the elements of the grief narrative which really hit the spot.

Another great book from Colleen Hoover!

No need to go into detail. Just read it! I loved how the book sent across a message while having a storyline as well as humor and sarcasm (my love languages).

Thank you to Montlake Romance and Netgalley for the chance to review this book early. Colleen Hoover has done it again! Her books just get better and better touching on subjects that will pull at the heart strings. Regretting You is about the relationship between Mother and Daughter. Clara is sixteen years old, daughter of Morgan who does not want her daughter following in her footsteps. To make the same mistakes which she made in her teen years. Even though the book is in dual POV, it covers three relationships. I loved the way CoHo portrayed the story which keeps you wanting more. There were times that were jaw dropping, covering the struggles families encounter. I also enjoyed the romantic parts of the story plus the heart thumping moments not knowing which way the story will go as the characters develop. Go into this story blind because you will not be disappointed.

Having read all of Colleen Hoover's books and knowing how amazing she is, I was overjoyed to see she had another book coming out this December. I had no idea that this book would surpass all her others for me, putting it at #1 in my CoHo lineup. If you don't read any of her others (and I guess we can still be friends if this happens) read this one! This is the one I want you to remember - it's just so well written and so heart wrenching. She ripped my heart out over and over...but in a good way!

First off, let me mention, that compared to the other CoHo books, the romance in this book is very tame (no steam!). So if that was holding you back from reading one of her amazing books, read this one! The story has the typical angst and romance, but it's just a more tamed down version. It still gave me goosebumps and tears, so I'm not knocking it in any way!

Talk about an impossible situation, 34 year old Morgan is babysitting her 2 month old nephew, Elijah, for her younger sister and best friend, Jenny, on Jenny's first day back to work at the hospital where Morgan's husband of 16 years, Chris also works. She gets a call to come to the hospital because Chris has been in an accident. She arrives to find Jonah, Jenny's fiance and father of her nephew also waiting for news. They soon learn that Chris and Jenny were together and both in an accident, and that neither survived. In an instant, Morgan's husband and best friend are gone - her entire support system vanishing in a moment. Now, imagine you were Morgan for a moment - imagine the gamut of feelings you would feel when you then discover that Chris and Jenny were having an affair (for who knows how many years of your marriage) and keeping it secret right under your nose for years! How can Morgan begin to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart while caught in a whirlwind of anger, shock, disbelief, loss, betrayal, and grief. Though she never felt goosebumps or butterflies and married Chris when she found out she was pregnant at age 17, she did love her husband. He was the kind of guy everyone loved. How will she keep the hurt from her daughter, Clara, who thought her father hung the moon? She can't tell Clara, because Chris was an amazing father to her. How can she ruin that for her own daughter? Morgan and Clara's relationship was already a bit rocky before the accident, and now the foundation has shifted, causing an epic battle of the wills.

And then there's Jonah...Morgan is still unhappy with him for leaving town after high school without a word or a visit since. She and Jonah were always able to communicate without words, and she felt a special connection to him back then, even though Jonah was dating her sister Jenny and Morgan was pregnant with Jonah's best friend Chris's baby. So, of course, Morgan stifled her feelings and went on with her life, putting all her energy into raising Clara and keeping a happy household, while her dreams of going to college slowly faded into the distance. But, Jonah, being the upstanding man she knew he would become, has come back home to raise Elijah and marry Jenny. Now, Jonah is left alone with a 2 month old baby and some of the same crippling feelings of anger, betrayal and grief as Morgan. Can you see the writing on the wall, my friends? Only, Morgan is strong willed and selfless. She is determined to keep her feelings for Jonah bottled up, taking the blame from her daughter in order to keep her from knowing the painful truth about her father and Jenny, who Clara was closer to than her own mother. Morgan will have a tough time, however, with the ever-present, ridiculously handsome, attentive and loving Jonah back in her daily life. 

There's also a parallel story going on with Clara and her love interest, Miller. Her father was against her dating Miller, but Jonah "Uncle Teacher" is both she and Miller's history teacher, and he assures Morgan that Miller is in fact one of the good ones. Clara and Miller's story feels like a wonderful YA book that is interspersed with Morgan and Jonah's story and I loved them both so much! Clara and Miller's story has humor, awkward dating moments, setbacks and so much love.

I will forever associate watermelon jolly ranchers and the color orange with these wonderful characters you have created, Colleen. You are everything that I aspire to be as an author someday. And, pretty please, keep 'em coming!

WOW WOW WOW! Colleen Hoover is amazing! She has once again flexed her writing muscles to bring us Regretting You. Although it is a YA novel it is definitely written for the more mature audience. There are so many "old school" vibes! The writing style of Regretting You has all of the "feels" and the flow that were found in her early books like Hopeless, Slammed, & Point of Retreat.
Regretting You is about love, loss and circumstances. It is told from the perspective of mother & daughter; Morgan and Clara. Colleen Hoover delivers a 1~2 punch early, then a second round, with the fallout flowing through the remaining chapters.
Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara, would like nothing more than to be nothing alike.
Life was simple and predictable for Morgan Grant until the unimaginable occurs. Now she must move forward and make decisions that will be best for herself and her daughter. She is navigating life’s roadblocks while trying to protect Clara from devastating secrets and lies.
“You’re a sacrificer. I don’t even know if that’s a real word, but that’s what you are. You do things you don’t want to make life better for the people around you.”
With everything coming apart around her, Clara struggles to cope and process the truth as she believes it to be. This results in her whole world turning upside down. Resentment, betrayal, anger, and hatred all play pivotal roles in the choices that she makes. Morgan is desperate to keep Clara from repeating her own mistakes while keeping her happy memories in place.
I did not want to put Regretting You down and stayed up into the wee hours of the morning to finish it! It is thought provoking, heartfelt and brilliantly written. Although it revolves mainly around Morgan and Clara, there are other characters in play as well. They too are affected by the choices that are made and the consequences that follow.
I feel I must also give my disclaimer as I do with every Colleen Hoover book. All I can really say is: Go in “blind,” meaning don’t read reviews, don’t get caught up in the hype. Take your time and savor the words that are beautifully written. It will be emotional, but in the end it is worth it. Hold on tight because you are in for one hell of a ride. This allows greater enjoyment of the story.

Thanks to Colleen Hoover for yet another incredible and fascinating story!

I was so afraid to dive into this one as all those reviews were scaring me out and I wasn't sure I was ready for such an emotional explosion. But I'm so glad I picked it up sooner rather than later.

I am a mother to a young teenage girl so reading this book made me feel, ache and relate to those two main heroines who were hurting so much, they nearly lost themselves and each other. But if you ever read CoHo book before you know it's a mission impossible not to be able to relate to her story because of her engrossing and gripping writing style.

It's all sort of feelings story and we are put through an emotional rollercoaster from the very beginning of the book. I'm struggling even to put this review into words partially because I don't want to include any spoilers and partially that I'm struggling to express my feelings after reading this captivating story. This book takes us on a journey of family relationships, grief, loss, sacrifices, second chances, trust and forgiveness.

Extraordinary and unique Colleen Hover writing style gives us an easy and enjoyable read but with plenty of poignant twists to hit you deep and make you hurt for the main characters, Morgan and Clara, mother and daughter, the only people in this story that could rely on each other and the only people this story that drove each other to their limits.

This is a story with a HEA so even if the reviews sound sad or scaring I really recommend you to pick this book and give it a go, I promise you will enjoy it and your aching heart will be absolutely perfect at the end of the book.

Regretting You was great. It's thought-provoking. There's angst, betrayal, lies, deceit and love. I wouldn't necessarily call it a Romance although the romance is an integral part it's not the main focus of the story. There's also a forbidden aspect to the story. I loved it. I saw the twists coming but that didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the story. The things that did take away from my overall enjoyment contain spoilers so I won't post them here. That said I still highly recommend this book because it's amazing.

I'm always curious as to what Colleen Hoover is going to write next. She always surprises me with the directions and choices she takes. I was excited to hear she was headed back to romance after Verity, but I was curious as to what type of romance she was going to give us. Even after reading Regretting You, I'm still not exactly sure how to describe it to you.

Regretting You is a book that's hard to put into one book category. It's kind of like an all-in-one Colleen Hover novel. One point of view is an adult contemporary romance with hints of women's fiction character growth sprinkled in. The other straddles the line between YA and NA contemporary romance. There's even a bit mystery involved. The overall effect is a great novel about... Well, a lot of stuff. Stuff you will have to read the book to find out about. ;)

What did I think of Regretting You? I had a lot of thoughts about it. Lame, I know. I just can't share too many of them without giving too much away. I will say this:

*Colleen Hoover's writing always makes me feel something and think hard about the messages she's giving. I felt a ton of emotions while reading Regretting You and I'm still processing them.
*I was caught up in the story from the very beginning. There's a lot of good stuff happening in it. Even when I found it predictable, I still enjoyed it.
*The mother-teenage daughter dynamic was STRONG in this one, people. I've been a teenager and I've been a mother, and I can confirm that both POVs delivered were on point. That dynamic... Whew! It was so real and vibrant! Even when I wanted to give Clara or Morgan a good shake, I still loved them.
*I liked how grief was depicted and dealt with.
*The love stories were complicated, but easy to swoon over.
*Like I said, I loved Clara and Morgan, but sometimes Miller, Jonah, and Miller's grandpa stole the show. They just kind of added an extra something that made this book. Miller especially.
*The end was one of my favorites I've read in a while. It was a great reward for all CoHo put me through while reading this book. After you read this book, I want to gush with you over it!
*If you're like me, you're going to have a few unanswered questions at the end, but you will feel okay with that even though it drives you slightly nuts. LOL

So, yeah. I guess you could say I loved reading Regretting You.

Wow! This is one of my favorite 2019 reads, and I feel lucky to have read some great books this year. Colleen Hoover is a go-to author for me. And yet, she still manages to surprise me with every intricate, unique, and beautiful story.

Regretting You was so real and raw. I empathized with both Morgan and Clara as they navigated unforeseen and unimaginable hardships. I love that the story was told from alternating viewpoints, which helped me better relate to teenage angst-ridden Clara and overprotective mamma-bear Morgan. After reading this, I have a new appreciation for my mother, and everything I put her through when I was a bratty teenager. I have a small minor critic because I feel like one story-line was left incomplete, but I cannot go into it without giving away spoilers. I would love to discuss though!

This is the second book I've read from Colleen Hoover and it did not disappoint! This author is a fantastic writer and really knows how to suck in her readers so you're invested in all of the characters. I was really hoping that the content of the letters would have been revealed but the way it was explained by Morgan's point of view why she didn't made perfect sense and it didn't leave me hanging. I was so glad Clara figured things out for herself, I felt badly the mom was taking the blame.

Another great romance with a twist from Colleen Hoover. I had only just started reading her books this year but have already read 4 including Verity (wow) and I have loved each one. She draws you in from the very first page and her writing style is so easy and flowing that you fly through her books. I don't want to give anything away about the book just read it I can guarantee you will not be dissapointed!

Huge cohort fan! I love everything she writes! I was a little disappointed at the ending I really wanted to read those letters! I need answers!!! But overall highly recommend!!!

5 amazing stars!! Another straight to the favorites list!!

This book tells a story of love, love lost, secrets, lies, deceits, finding yourself and love after loss. This book goes between mother and daughter and we visit multiple relationships. Each one with a similar yet different struggle. You want to cheer the good guy on.

This book is another Colleen Hoover masterpiece!! I could not put this book down, I literally had to force myself to slow down because I wanted it to last!! When I saw the end I hurt, I wasn’t ready to let this story go.

This author writes beautifully. The words jump off the page and then grab you by the face and yank you right in. I didn’t even have a clue as to what was going on around me. I was entranced. Obsessed. Heart broken. In love.

The characters in this book are all so complex and original. I know people like this in real life. This was a real life situation. This was a real life struggle. This would make for a beautiful real life movie.

I am in love with the two main characters- Morgan and Clara! Each has their own mountain to climb. Morgan is a mother and wife first. She once had goals but now she has duties. She actually reminds me of my mother and it made me see her in a whole new light. Clara is a beautiful young woman, who has basically been sheltered. It shows in everything she does. She has a stubborn streak a mile long. But I love the combo of the two. I was Clara’s character at one point my life, I think most women had a point in their life when they were Clara. Maybe our stories didn’t have the same lies or tragedies but we struggle in a familiar way. My heart broke over and over for the secrets that held these two apart. It makes you realize as a mother the sacrifices that have to be made.

This book triggers so much for me, but not in a negative way. It’s like this was a coming to. This was an eye opener to a relationship you tend to grow out of. Yes we all love our mothers but we never see their struggle. We just see what they show us, and then we grow up and we move on.

I feel like even as a blogger I don’t have the correct words for this book. That’s when I know this is one of a kind. This is amazing. I know you need to read this book. If you are reading this review, BUY the book!!

My romance book reading started with Colleen Hoover’s Slammed & just continues. Her writing and characters grab you from the first page until the last.
I just loved Regretting You. It had so many emotions throughout. My heart ached at times. I laughed at times. I had hope at times.
When the unthinkable happens, how do you pick up the pieces? Morgan’s life is turned upside down. As she finds out what happened and is honest with herself, will she put her needs first?
Clara is Morgan’s teenage daughter and the mother/daughter banter and disagreements reminded me of myself and my own teenage daughter. Raising a teen is tough! Raising a teen going through loss is tougher!
Morgan is an amazing mom & seeing her try to keep going under such hard circumstances, will make your heart hurt.
Jonah is Clara’s teacher & Morgan’s old friend. Seeing the past resurface between them will give you hope.
Miller is Clara’s friend and I just loved him so much. The two of them together gave smiles, laughs and tears.
This is a book everyone needs to read. It was so good. Words can’t do it justice.

I’m giving the book 4.5 Stars. I’m not a huge YA fan, but this one sucked me in immediately. I didn’t know the synopsis of the story when I started reading and I have to say that not knowing anything made it even better! Please consider reading this book blind! You won’t be sorry!
Colleens ability to describe the relationships between all of the characters, their feelings and the grief they experience is nothing short of incredible. I felt every single emotion each character did. I cried when they cried. I was angry when they were angry. I laughed when they laughed. When a writer can do that, they are brilliant.
I loved the mother/daughter relationship...the ups and downs along the way and how they were finally able to heal. I can’t choose a favorite character because I enjoyed aspects of each one of them.
Throughout the story, I wondered how it would end. How it would come together with a pretty little bow and she pulled it off. The ending was sweet and adorable. It was perfect.
This is now my favorite book of Colleen’s. Well, besides Verity...because, woah!!!

It has been more than three years since I last read a book by Colleen Hoover. That is a long time, and Regretting You has reminded me that I need to get back and read the books that have been released since then. I finished this book in two sittings. It was so engaging and I just couldn't put it down. This book is told in dual POV, that of the mother Morgan and her sixteen year old daughter Clara. Morgan had Clara when she was a teenager, and doesn't want Morgan to make the same mistakes she made. However, Clara is a good girl that mostly follows the rules. However, when tragedy strikes this family, Clara does what a lot of teens do in this situation, which is to act out.

I absolutely loved that we got to follow the story from both the mother and daughter. It felt like two stories but it was integrated perfectly. You could feel the heartbreak and it brought me to tears many times. Morgan is trying to find herself, and come to terms with things from her past. Clara is conflicted and blames herself for the death of her father. Regretting You was a refreshing and original read. It was about family, forgiveness, and moving on. It also had romance that I enjoyed a lot. It felt natural and not fabricated. It wasn't perfect, and the characters didn't act the way I expected, which I loved. It was unpredictable, which had me on the edge of my seat. I would love a sequel because I hated saying goodbye to the characters, and I am very curious to see where they all end up in the future. I am ready to go back and read all the Colleen Hoover books that I missed out on.
