Regretting You was a brilliant and gripping read with an emotional storyline that grabbed me, pulled me in and kept me connected right to the very end. I was immediately drawn into the story, invested in the characters, and when their world turned upside down I felt like I experienced it all alongside them. Colleen Hoover is a master storyteller who perfectly captures the complexities of human relationships and emotions and always delivers a brilliant read. Whatever she decides to write is always an absolute pleasure to read. Regretting You centres around the mother/daughter relationship between Morgan and Clara. Morgan had Clara when she was seventeen, and Clara is now almost seventeen. Even though there’s a closeness in age, they have a fraught relationship which is held together by Chris, Morgan’s husband/Clara’s dad. When Chris is involved in an accident, an awful truth uncovered pushes the already uneasy relationship between Morgan and Clara to breaking point. Lost in grief, they don’t lean on each other. For Morgan this leads to a connection long ago denied to suddenly resurface. Ultimately this story is about love even in the midst of their darkest hours- the unspoken bonds of love, the need to protect the people you love, and love without reason or justification.

4.5

I have to admit I never read the blurb. If someone says "hey, you wanna read Colleen Hoover's newest book that hasn't even come out yet?" then you simply say please and thank you. So I grabbed it in my greedy little hands and read.

And read.

And read some more. I felt like Stella got her groove back if Stella was me and by groove I mean reading flow.

There were a lot of twists and turns I didn't see coming since I hadn't read the synopsis. Huge turns. I thought this was simply a young adult, fluffy, fun novel. But it's more than that. Its young adult POV alternating with woman's fiction POV. It's a tragedy. Mom and daughter being ripped apart by a horrible turn of events. It's a sweet romance. I will say I thought the daughters romance storyline was more interesting and realistic than the mothers which is why I gave the book 4.5 stars rather than 5. It's well written. It's well paced.

And it left me wanting more....
I highly recommend reading this book. And if you like to be really amazed and thrown off kilter, skip the blurb.

Regretting You, touches on love, healing, faith, family, truth, and forgiveness. It was beautifully done. This is a book I would gift my daughter, a friend or a colleague.

Colleen Hoover's characters become real to the reader. One cannot help but connect emotionally and think about them long after you've finished the story.

Regretting You is a story of love, loss, and regret. Told from Morgan and her daughter, Clara’s point of view as they come to grip with death, love, lies, and loss. They must accept the differences between the past they remember and the lies that have unfolded while trying to discover what love means to them.
A great love story that connects mother and daughter.

I could not hold out until closer to pub date to read Colleen Hoover’s upcoming release Regretting You. Being one of my favourite authors, this was one of my most anticipated winter releases and once again, Colleen Hoover has blown me away.

Regretting You falls more into the Women’s Fiction or even YA category, compared to her usual romance style. Romance is still a focus in the book, but the main story revolves around a mother/daughter relationship as they venture through the most difficult time of their lives together.

True to CoHo fashion, the characters are realistic and easy to connect with. I swear, she writes the best characters out there. I’ve never finished a book of hers feeling like I didn’t fully know the characters inside and out, and Regretting You holds true to that.

This book will tug at your heartstrings, make you smile, then cry and then smile again. It’s emotional, but super cute and one that I highly recommend. An easy 5⭐️ for me and I can’t wait to hear what all the Collen Hoover fans in my life think too!

Thank you to Montlake Romance / Netgalley for the free copy to review. All opinions are my own. Regretting You comes out Dec 10th, pre-order yours now!!!

I was beyond excited to have received this book early as an E-book to read on NetGalley and I literally did not want it to end. I don't know how I am going to get over this massive book hangover after reading this book. Colleen is by far my favorite author her and Regretting You was simply amazing. I love her writing and she just makes her stories flow perfectly and makes you not want to stop reading.
The story is told between the mother, Morgan and her daughter Clara. The story starts off by how Morgan grew up with her boyfriend Chris and sister Jenny and Jenny's boyfriend who is also the best friend to Chris, Jonah. Morgan finds out shes pregnant at the age of 17 with Clara.
The story finally jumps to present day when something tragic happens and Chris(Morgan's husband) is in a terrible accident that leaves Morgan and Clara alone.
Not only does it affect Morgan and Clara but also Jonah as well because Jenny too is involved in this accident that happened. But something about this accident doesnt make sense at first until both Jonah and Morgan realize what really was going on. Morgan eventually finds hope and comfort in one person she never expected that would be.
(Not going to give any spoilers away!)
Anyways, this is by far a 5 star read for me yet again and I hope everyone gets the chance to read this book because it was beyond amazing and I definitely will be getting a physical copy for my bookshelves once it is released in December.

As a mother of a boy, much like this author, I wasn't sure how writing about a mother/daughter dynamic could work but I guess that is what makes Colleen Hoover, well Colleen Hoover. (and yes, I know she is a daughter but that's only half of that relationship) I'm beginning to believe Hoover can write anything that comes to her mind and make it resonate with everyone reading, whether they like it or not.

My heart physically ached reading this one. It's been a long while since that has happened. The dueling POV's really drove this story and made it exactly what it needed to be. I felt both Clara and Morgan's pain for very different reason. Clara because I was a teenager once and because sometimes I wonder if what she was feeling losing her dad is what my own child feels. Or maybe it helped me understand him just a little bit more. I felt EVERYTHING Morgan felt in this one. There is nothing stronger than a mother's love and with that is not only shouldering our own heartache but that of our children. Hoover made that heartache bleed off the ages and sink its claws into you.

This is another great, original story by this author and I know it won't be one I easily forget. It may even be one I pick up again and again.

Love. Loss. Betrayal. Finding love during loss. This book was phenomenal. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. I felt every feeling the characters did. I wanted to know what happened next. I truly cared about these characters. I don’t even know how to explain how this book made me feel, but you need to read it! I have only read one other book of Colleen Hoover’s, and now I need to go get all the rest of her books.
Thank you #netgalley and #montlake publishing for this advanced copy.

Lettura super consigliata!

As with all of Colleen Hoover's books I've read thus far, this one gave me all the feels- I laughed, I cried, I remembered how confusing life could be as a teenager. This one has a YA feel to it, as half of it is told from the perspective of a teenager. Morgan and Clara's lives are rocked by an unexpected and tragic accident. Hoover does an amazing job at describing the emotions they go through after this. It was a story of how they, as mother and daughter, get through this tragedy. I enjoyed the character development, and adored Gramps! He was probably my favorite character. This was a quick read for me, as I felt very invested in how the story would end. My only complaint is that I would have liked to know more about Jenny and Chris... I understand why Morgan did not want to know more, but man, my curiosity would have gotten the best of me! Overall this was another solid read from Hoover, and she has quickly become an auto-buy author for me!

Colleen Hoover is pretty much an auto buy from me at this point, and this book did not disappoint. This book was very reminiscent of Slammed to me, just because it had teenage characters and explored young love, and I did really enjoy that part of it. My favorite part though was the mother- daughter relationship between Morgan and Clara, and I’m really thinking that isn’t something that gets explored as often as it should. Colleen’s take on it was real and heart warming and made me want to go and hug my daughter after I finished the book.

Wow. Welcome to my bookshelf Colleen Hoover. This is the first book I have read of Hoover's and it will definitely not be my last. I loved her writing style and am super keen to experience more of it.

Regretting You had me hooked from the first chapter. We have two narrators in this book, a mother, Morgan, and her teen daughter, Clara, and the story is told from both of their perspectives, over alternating chapters. The relationship between Morgan and Clara is rocked and tested by an incredible tragedy that strikes their close family. This story tugged at my heart in so many ways - from grief, to first love, to unbreakable parent-child bonds being pushed to their absolute limit, to betrayal and frustration. Hoover captures the angst of a mother and teen daughter relationship beautifully. It feels so real the misinterpretation in communication, the reaction and triggering that can happen at the best of times but is magnified under extreme grief.

Regretting You was an un-put down-able read for me. I raced through it in a couple of days, devouring Hoover's relatable characters and this gripping story line. At the heart of it is several love stories - each one unique and equally pleasing.

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake Romance for this advance e-copy in exchange for this review, which will also appear on goodreads and IG @katereadsit

Potent and riveting, this story explores the themes of love, loss, forgiveness, and second chances.

While this author doesn't have a formula, there is something that is consistent in each of her releases - the ability to draw out the reader's emotions. Whether it is a touching moment that pulls on your heart strings, anger at the actions of others, heartbreak for the pain caused, it is impossible to read her books and not FEEL SOMETHING. What was interesting with this book is I didn't expect those feelings to hit so hard.

The beginning of this book lays out the main characters and their relationship with one another. But tragedy shines a whole new light on those relationships. It was at 21% where dread seeped into my bones, as I came to realize what the characters were just about to discover. Before I got to this part of the book, I had planned to read just one more chapter. Famous last words, right? After reading this next chapter, my heart was pounding so hard, there was no chance of me going to bed anytime soon. And the author continued to assault my emotions page after page, as truths are uncovered.

We are introduced to Morgan, one of the two narrators, as she is reaching a crossroads. She's young, in love, and now, pregnant. Lucky for her, she has a boyfriend, Chris, who is willing to step and support her every step of the way.

Fast forward seventeen years later, as Morgan, Chris, and their daughter, Clara, celebrate Morgan's birthday, along with her sister Jenny and fiancé Jonah. One day of happiness is quickly followed by one day of tragedy that changes everything.

From Morgan's POV, we learn not only about the accident, but the implications behind it that are so much more than one person can handle. But handle she does, as she tries to protect Clara from learning the truth. I had mixed feelings about Morgan's decision. She decides to put her daughter first, protecting memories from being soiled by betrayal. Unfortunately, this decision backfires spectacularly.

Clara's POV is very different, truly capturing her age and lack of maturity. She is so focused on how the tragedy impacts her; she doesn't seem to care at all about how things may affect her mom. Again, that level of selfishness is typical for her age group but doesn't mean I liked it. She acts out in every way possible to drive her mother further over the edge. Thankfully, she has a boy in her life, Miller, who helps to reign her in when she becomes unreasonable. Which was often.

“But I feel like you’re using me as your weapon in all these fights against her. It’s not fair to me.”

This story is an emotional roller coaster, filled with some highs and a lot of lows. As a mother and daughter struggle to adjust to their new world, they find new ways to cope, act out, and ultimately comfort one another. I highly recommend you set aside the time to read this in one sitting, as the angst level makes this a hard one to put down.

“I’m confident that I’ll never spend a single second of my life regretting you.”

Classic CoHo with a mother/daughter dualing storyline. A very raw and real look at parent/child relationships and their struggles.

Colleen Hoover does it again! She can write anything and I will want to read it. I was worried to read one of her other books, Without Merit, because like this one it wasn't strictly a romance. But after reading Without Merit, and loving it, I vowed I would read whatever she wrote because I love everything she writes. Regretting You was a story about a mother and daughter navigating their relationship, and the ones around them. Regretting You has two view points that change between mother and daughter. This book is filled with love, heartbreak, and family dynamics. It's about a woman who has done everything for her family her whole life, and is now finding who she is, and about her daughter going through tragedy and finding herself as well. If you haven't read anything by Colleen Hoover you should because like this book, and all other Colleen Hoover books, it is amazing and you need to read it. She can write about anything and she creates a dynamic story that you can't put down. I am so thankful I got to read this book early, thanks to Netgalley and Montlake Romance, I couldn't be happier.

Every time I finish a Colleen Hoover novel, I declare that it’s my favorite. Over time, I typically resort back to Maybe Someday being my favorite, followed by Ugly Love with all the others battling for the bronze medal slot. But there’s been a big upset with Regretting You pushing into the silver medal slot with the potential to nudge Maybe Someday out of first. It’s that good.

I’ve actually finished 3 other books since turning the last page of Regretting You and I still can’t move on. Morgan and Clara have won my heart; I’m tempted to reread it just to see if I can get them out of my system. Regretting You is just that powerful and sweet and heart wrenching and poignant. And, under all the typical Colleen Hoover drama that I’ve come to crave, there’s a beautiful story about mother/daughter dynamics that will resonate with readers far and wide.

Part Young Adult, part Women’s Fiction, Regretting You spans 17 years in the life of Morgan and Clara Grant. As mentioned, there’s the Hoover drama/twists that are her trademark, which leaves me with some difficulty in writing this review without giving away some secrets. But, it’s also easy to recognize yourself in Morgan and Clara and their universal mother/daughter relationship.

Told in alternating, first person points of view, Morgan and Clara’s voices are distinct and easy to engage with. As a mom to an adult daughter, I felt as though Hoover had looked into my heart as I followed Morgan’s highs and lows with Clara. Even though my experiences are nothing like theirs, I could easily recognize the heartache Morgan goes through as Clara inches away from her to become her own woman. Throw in some tragic circumstances and teenage rebellion that every parent has witnessed and you’ll find this heartache magnified tenfold. Hoover captures this relationship so perfectly, especially as Clara finds her way back to her mother’s arms, that I couldn’t help but cry (and I’m tearing up writing about it). More importantly, I laughed with them as well, as Hoover nailed down the complexities of the mother/daughter relationship that, at times, moves from anger to laughter in the space of a moment.

It wouldn’t be Colleen Hoover if there weren’t some romance and significant friendships as well. Both Morgan and Clara find themselves in unexpected relationships that challenge them and their relationship with each other. I loved how Hoover used these new relationships to spark the growing resentment between Morgan and Clara and gave them each a way to grow as characters. There is also a cute baby and a lovable grandpa that provide some lighthearted moments and some surprises!

Regretting You is the newest novel written by best selling author Colleen Hoover. If there's ever an author that I can automatically shelf their book without having to read the synopsis, it's Colleen Hoover.

Regretting You delves into the relationship of a mother, Morgan, and daughter, Clara, who have recently experienced loss and heartbreak. Along with that, secrets that were buried deep arise to the surface leaving both Morgan and Clara with several questions. The book is written in both Morgan and Clara's point of view.

What I really like about Colleen Hoover's books is that every story is different. None of her books are like the others and the end of each chapter will make you want to read the next. I enjoyed reading about the ups and downs of Morgan and Clara's relationship and how close to reality it was. I also loved Jonah and I wish we could have seen some of his point of view as well. I thought Clara and Miller's relationship was super sweet and I'm happy with how everything unfolded.

What I usually find with her books is that there is usually a shocking plot twist near the end, however what I found with this particular book, was that all the interesting drama occurred in the beginning of the book. Towards the end, it slowed down a bit and overall everything wrapped up nicely but I felt like I still wanted more. There were parts where I wondered why the characters did what they did, even though I understood the reasons behind their actions. It could be that I really just wanted more drama, but this book wasn't about that.

Overall, Regretting You kept me hooked from beginning to end but in the end I expected things to turn out just a little differently.

Thanks to Netgalley and Amazon publishing for the ARC! I was really excited about this as I am newly into Colleen Hoover.

This book did not disappoint! It was a very quick read for me and I found myself interested in the characters and wanting to know what was happening. I feel like this was a very realistic portrayal of what would go down if all of this happened to a family.

Highly recommend this one!!
