Regretting You was my first "romantic" Colleen Hoover read after devouring Verity and it did not disappoint!
Hoover is a wonderful storyteller. I don't read a ton of romance, but her ability to draw you into her characters worlds is exceptional. The emotions are high in this book and you will love and be angry withe each character at some point. But the main thing is that you will always feel something, which is what I look for in a book.
Told through the alternative perspectives of mother Morgan and daughter Clara, Regretting You takes you through their individual love stories and brings them together as a part of their family journey. While young Clara could be a bit angsty, she did feel real as a teenage girl, grappling with her emotions. Without spoiling, the family's journey was my favourite part of the book, especially the relationship between Morgan and Clara. It reminds you that love comes in many different ways and one person's hero can be another person's villain without either perspective being right or wrong.
I've officially joined team CoHo :)
Colleen Hoover does it again! I swear she can do no wrong with her books. The storyline was captivating and the characters were all relatable. I immediately got swept up in Clara and Morgan's story. It was an easy read that also had many complex and raw feelings and emotions. I love Hoover's writing and the way she portrays characters and their emotions. This book definitely read more YA than a lot of her other books, so that is something to be aware of when starting this book. This is another must read by Colleen!
Regretting You was another great read by Colleen Hoover. This was a great novel about first love, family, betrayal and grief. It follows Morgan and her daughter Clara, who wants to be nothing like her mother. Morgan ants to makee sure that her daughter doesn't make the same mistakes she made. She doesn't want her to end up pregnant and married at a young age. Clara doesn't want to be like her mom because she doesn't believe that she is at all spontaneous. When the two are at odds; Chris, Morgan's husband and Clara's dad, seems to be the only person who brings them together. Unfortunately for them, Chris is involved in a tragic accident that leaves them both broken. They are trying to rebuild everything as Morgan turns to someone from her past and Clara turns to the boy her father forbid her to see. They start unraveling the details of the accident, which unravels the two already broken women. I loved this book and can't wait to read more by Colleen Hoover.
I am obsessed with Colleen Hoover books, this was no different!
I loved the two different POV’s, a mother and a daughter. And the twist, ah! I was left wanting so much more, but also really happy!
A great Colleen Hoover book! Such a good story of family and love and one that really makes you think! Like all of her books I could not put it down.
This story is about Morgan and her sixteen year old daughter Clara. Morgan is determined to prevent her daughter from making the same mistakes she made at a young age (like teen pregnancy). Clara has no desire to be like her mother, and as teenagers do, make sure her mother knows that. They are constantly at each other’s throats. The only thing that is saving their relationship is Morgan’s husband and Clara’s father, Chris. He is a constant peacemaker in their home.
When Chris is involved in a terrible accident, their constant peacemaker is no longer around. Both of them are in pain, and don’t know how to move forward together. With this grief, resentment, pain, and longing to have their constant back they continue to grow apart.
Without going into too much more detail, this book will make you cry, laugh, and most importantly FEEL. There are so many layers to their relationship and to this story. If you are a family drama fan, or a Hoover fan, you will fall in love with this one. No doubt.
I loved this book so much. I think it is probably in my top for Colleen Hoover reads! It is a beautiful story that has many different themes which I really appreciate. Her writing is just fantastic which definitely helps make the story even better!
Its been a LONG time since I read a book from Colleen Hoover and I'm now wondering why the hell I waited so long. Once I started this I was completely enthralled from beginning to the end.
Colleen has written this in a dual POV filled with emotion and heart. There were some sad times that made me shed a tear or two but there was also some really heartfelt moments too. The characters were brilliant and really relatable which added to my enjoyment of this one.
I had no clue about the storyline when I started this, I just went into it blind and excited getting a chance to read a CoHo book and she didn't disappoint me. I will certainly be reading more from CoHo very soon.
ARC received in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley
This has become my top 3 reads of all time! Hoover sure does know how to get my emotions going. Love, loss, babies and damage.
Thanks to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
I've heard praises of Colleen Hoover's books before so I was excited to receive this e-arc and reading her work for the first time. I don't want to reveal anything so I suggest going into this book blind and enjoy the rollercoaster of twists and turns with family drama. This book is like an episode of The Maury Show. So many times I was caught off guard by the family secrets and deceit that slowly get revealed. I enjoyed all the characters and their interactions with one another. Only one part of the story I didn't like and made me feel unsatisfied for the main deception of the book; how, when, why did it happen? BUT I understand the characters choice not to learn the details on said deception.
Overall, very enjoyable--even up to the ending. I recommend this book for fans of contemporary drama/romance.
4.5/5
I absolutely loved this book. It was very moving and a bit different than her usual novels. It actually reminded me of a Sarah Dessen book (who I love).
I liked this book. Colleen can write intense characters and a strong story. This one had me feeling all the range of emotions. Loved the story and the development of the characters and the emotional aspects of the story.
This book was so emotional. It focuses more on the relationship between Morgan and Clara than on a romance which was different. I have a lot of spoilery thoughts that I don't want to reveal bcs I don't want to take away anyone else's enjoyment of the book.. I felt a lot with this book. Some good and some bad. I def recommend. Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC
I haven't read a Colleen Hoover book that I didn't enjoy and Regretting You is no exception. Another great read from a fabulous author. I look forward to reading additional releases!
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book. A full review will be posted on Amazon and Goodreads
Another Colleen Hoover book...another 5 star rating. She makes my feelings have feelings. I loved this story and the characters were both frustrating and delightful. I don’t know how she does it!
Pure perfection in the written word. This book will take you apart and put you back together again. And again. Because don't think Colleen will only do it once. Oh and she may move a town limits sign or two.
I have needed to write this review for a couple of weeks and it's time to stop putting if off even though I know words will not accurately portray my feelings for this book. Regretting You is definitely going to be a top read for 2020. I had such a book hangover after finishing the physical book that I immediately began listening to the audiobook. I do not want to move past this book -- it's THAT mesmerizing, captivating, and engrossing. If I could crawl into this story I absolutely would!
Regretting You was my second @colleenhoover read and it's the second book of hers to completely blow me away. The hype over her books is real! At its core, Regretting You is about mother and daughter Morgan and Clara Grant. Told in dual POV, the plot follows these two characters as they maneuver though a major loss in their lives.
My 17-year-old teenage heart fell HARD for Miller. What a dreamy, swoony, heartthrob! His relationship with Clara was authentic and beautiful and he absolutely won my heart in this book. I felt like I was experiencing first love all over again! Miller Adams has definitely earned a place near the top of my list of favorite book boyfriends.
I felt so many feelings while reading this novel and the way Colleen Hoover's writing evokes emotions is one of the things I love so much about her books. At times the story broke my heart and other times my heart would swell with the sentiments of the characters. Regretting You was undoubtedly a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ read for me. I don't know if I'll ever get over this book and I'm not sure I want to! 😍
Regretting You is available now and free on kindle unlimited. The audio book is narrated by Tanya Eby and Lauren Ezzo who were both new to me but amazing! Listening to the audio book made the story and characters come alive even more and I LOVED it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the audio book performance, too!
Thank you to Montlake Romance for an ARC. All opinions are my own.

This is my first book from Ms. Hoover and you know what? I FELL hard for this story! The story of female parts of the family, how they grew up after one terrible event. A mother and a daughter. Yet nothing could have put them more apart.
Morgan (a mother) had it all, but really? A husband, a daughter that she had still as a teen and loving sister and her family. Yet when one event blows it away like a house of cards - Morgan will have to learn how to deal with finding truth in the middle of lies
Claire is a sixteen-year-old girl, that was never on the best terms with her mum, she bonded more with her dad and her aunt. Isn't that the case with all of us? Her world was turn upside down as well, but with no one to talk about it, and with teens, problems arising Claire can only hold onto herself just so she won't draw in her own life.
I had never read the story where the MAIN part of the action would be a mother-daughter relationship that was so broken, that it would not be possible to mend it. Can one not said thing bring a spiral of events that would be so destructive that the whole life could be set upside down?
This story is a great standalone for mature teens and older readers - it brought me emotions that were hidden for a very long time.
Great read! Definitely a must-read and something to reread again!
