Wow! What a moving, heartwarming, raw, emotional and swoony read this is. An unique way of telling a story, with alternating POV's between a mother and her teenage daughter, as they are going through the hardest time in their lives. Regretting You is incredibly well-written, addictive, and makes you think about love, forgiveness and second chances.
This was such an amazing book that I thought I wasn't going to like. Which would have been a first for me with the queen of stories Colleen Hoover! I actually loved how this story was split up with two POVs one of Clara who is almost seventeen years old and the other Morgan her mom. It gave us a well rounded story and let us know what both characters were feeling during the devastating loss within this story.
Colleen's titles have a way of taking you through the darkness only to find the light on the other side. And this one was no different. It really made me feel like it was two books in one. A young adult title with Clara's chapters and then a regular adult contemporary with Morgan's. It was a wonderful blend of age groups and relationships in this breathtaking story. Regretting You pulled me into the story early on and I fell in love with the humor, love, and even the hurt that goes thought the story.
I could not put this book down so be warned!! When I got going I was SO glad that my paper white was one of the newer models that was waterproof!! YES I was reading in the shower!! Don't judge me!! It was just that good that I didn't want to put it down!!

Note: Although we did receive an ARC for this title. This review is via a finished copy.
Regretting you is a heartbreaking story that is so much more than just a story of romance. It tells the story of a mother and daughter and what their relationship looks like after a tragic event. Nothing is ever as it seems and sometimes secrets can do more harm than good.

You can't go wrong with a Ms. Hoover book and Regretting You is another 'suck-you-in' read that had me up all night. It's a heart-wrenching book about love, family, and betrayal - sometimes the truth, no matter how hard it is to hear, can set you free.
Morgan and Clara Grant has a special mother and daughter relationship. It's a typical loving and sometimes fighting bond, but it all changed after a tragic accident that left this family with more questions, disbelief and anger.
Trying to work out the last seventeen years of her life, Morgan is dealing with pain and trying to protect her daughter from the truth. But the more she protects her, the more Clara lashes out in anger and hate.
This book will take you on wild and emotional ride of wanting to just shout out the truth to these characters, but also made me want to protect them from everything. I honestly could not put this book down. I can't say it enough, but this is a must-read!
This was such a good read, a very nice mix of women’s fiction and romance. The first chapter had me hooked and invested in the characters from the get go.
I really enjoyed how this story was written following two characters, a mother and daughter, while centering around how one moment can change everything. I am not a mother yet but I am a daughter and I still found myself relating to both Morgan and Clara.
This story is all about family secrets, love, teenage rebellion, and overcoming the bumps in the road that life puts in your way. The big twist shocked me when it was revealed. I did find quite a bit of the rest of the plot to be a bit predictable. I still really enjoyed the emotional roller coaster I was put on while reading this story.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.

Regretting You has been one of my most anticipated books of the year and is now one of my favorites.
Colleen Hoover has done something completely different with this book, something so unexpected and beautifully written. I was addicted to this book from the very beginning and never wanted it to end.
"Sometimes you have to walk away from the fight in order to win it"
This book is told in dual point of views, however instead of the typical hero & heroine we have a mother and daughter. I loved the parallels in their chapters, the unexpected journey they found themselves on and how they navigated their new paths. The love in the book is so incredible and shown in many different ways and forms.
There aren't enough words to do this book justice, and I don't want to spoil anything by going into too much detail. What I will say is I absolutely loved this book, I highly recommend it to everyone, and I hope you love it as much as I did!
I’m not sure how this author does it.
People are saying this is “classic Hoover” but I’ve never read the Slammed series or Hopeless so I can’t tell you.
What I can say is this author continues to give you stories that are nothing a like and can grab your attention from the start.
Seriously! Every book she writes is different then her last.
This book is full of emotion. It surrounds a mother and daughter duo with secrets and lies and love. You get to see the POV from the mom and daughter
I know I’m not saying much but you just need to read this book and see all the hard work to make this story flow and get a real feeling of life.

Wow. This is probably the author's bestest work ever... I might be biased because she's one of my go-to's and I have more books of hers than any other author but yes, seriously.
This is only my second ARC from her and I was so friggin ecstatic when I received this thru NetGalley.
I've been anticipating this book ever since it was announced and when I received it, I was putting it off because I'm weird and I was saving this and don't want it to end—I'm probably just the only one who's like this. Don't judge me.
This is was so unexpectedly refreshing. I've never read a book that's been told thru Mom and daughter POV's and I can't explain it. I thought it wasn't going to romantic but it's as romantic as romance gets! Only Colleen man... Only Colleen friggin Hoover.
I love the book...it was very relatable. I've been cheated on and didn't know until it was too late... it hurt a lot—and to read about it in the book and how it happened and who cheated, I was like—No way. It was heartless and vile.
I wish she read the letters... if it was me, it will always be at the back of my head.
I love it! If it's still not obvious, I do. If I could give it 5M stars, I would. It made me laugh and cry and I've read it in one day. I just couldn't put the book down...
Like I said, bestest work of Colleen's... My favorite is still Maybe Someday because of Ridge but this is a very, very close second.
I wish there was a longer epilogue but I just didn't want it to end.
This book. As always Colleen Hoover takes us on an emotional roller coaster. You do not know which way this story will take you. It will trigger so many emotions. I love how Ms. Hoover has a way of grasping you and not letting you go. This is by far my favorite of hers. This is ABSOLUTELY a must read!!
I got to read an ARC of this a few months back, and never have I struggled to write a review more than trying to write one for Regretting You. This to me felt like vintage Colleen, and made me smile and cry and laugh when I felt like everything around me was in complete chaos. I devoured the book, and remember wanting to cry because of how it made me feel. I’m sure it’s hard enough to write one love story and struggle, but to write two simultaneously while writing a mother-daughter dynamic seemed like an impossibly difficult task for Colleen. Not only did she make me fall in love with every character, she made me do it while constantly comparing my own mother-daughter relationship in the process.
I’ve been a Colleen Hoover fan for years, and can honestly say that this book was tied for second place in the hierarchy of my COHO favorites. Thank you for writing such a poignant book about love, loss, forgiveness, and strength in a way that was both heartbreaking and beautiful.
I rarely read a Coho blurb and there's two reasons for that.
1. I want to go into the story with no preconceived notions, no spoilers, nothing to tell me how I think I should feel.
2. I don't need a blurb to make me read her books. Her writing has evolved to the point that by the 2nd page I'm pulled in till I finish.
Because I think everyone should go in as blind as possible my review will mostly consist of how I felt. I related to this book and the characters on soooo many levels. I read it as a mother, a daughter, a sister, a teenager, a friend. I swooned, I cringed, I smiled, I broke, I held my breath, and I fell in love while reading. I loved that the POV wasn't alternating between a male and female lead but a mother and daughter lead. I think people/readers will take away different things from this one based on their life experiences and I think that's what I love most about this book...it's for everyone. It has such a human quality to it, as in there are lots of human moments...mistakes made, things said out of hurt or anger, betrayal, but there is also hope, honesty, humor, and second chances. I have seen a few reviews who have compared this to Slammed and while I see the similarities (mostly in that one of the characters is still in high school) I think this book is more. So much more. Really enjoyed it! Top ten read of the year!
💌Regretting You 💌 by Colleen Hoover: I think I am finally getting my reading groove back - read this in 2 days! It was that kind of book - that really hooked you in.
Thank you to @netgalley and @montlake for the advanced copy for my honest review. I was so looking forward to reading this!
Tiny Synopsis: Excerpts From @goodreads, Morgan Grant and her sixteen year old daughter could not be more different. Morgan is determined to make sure Clara does not follow in her footsteps as they find it harder and harder to coexist. The only person that brings peace is their family anchor - Chris - Morgan’s husband. When he gets involved in a tragic and questionable car accident, the glue that held them together falls apart. The heartbreaking and long lasting consequences will reach past Morgan and Clara and beyond. Morgan finds comfort in the last person she expects and Clara turns her passing day to the one person she is forbidden to see. With each passing day, it seems the mother/daughter duo keeps falling farther and farther apart that they may never mend their wounds.
My Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/ 5 stars
I enjoyed this - this is definitely a mix of YA with a bit of adult romance. I have heard so many great things about Colleen Hoover’s books and I still have a few of them in my TBR list which is getting embarassingly large. This book definitely cured me of my reading slump! The first chapter or so, I was concerned because I thought I was reading a teen/YA and I am not a HUGE fan of them. The teenage banter bores me and actually annoys me most of the time… but the pace switches back and forth between Clara and Morgan - and then thats when it hooks you. Morgan really deserved more and you sense the regret in her whole life while just starting to read. Without giving the spoilers away, that one moment where you find out all the craziness that is going on, you are heartbroken. An emotional roller coaster - because you just cannot believe it. Clara annoyed me so thats probably why I did not rate this higher - but if you are a fan of Hoover’s books, you will definitely love it. It’s a tearjerker for sure - all the makings of a great book, right?
I have mixed feelings about this story. I love many parts and the characters but I also can’t get over certain scenes or acts.
It’s beautiful and powerful as we’re used to from the author and it’s angsty and makes you think a lot of what would you do in those moments, the decisions that you’ve made would be the same? The feelings?
Regretting You is absolutely fabulous!!!!! Author Colleen Hoover delivers another phenomenal book that captures the realities of a seemingly picture perfect life and then a tragic accident changes everything. Secrets, lies, misunderstandings complicate the relationships.
Regretting You is an emotional, angsty, surprising story about first love, second chances, and friends. It is a story about family and the rollercoaster ride that is a mother/daughter relationship. It is about forgiveness. It is beautifully written, authentic and ripe with emotion.
The characters are complex, real and truly relatable. I loved them. I felt like I knew them. I cried with them, laughed with them and shared their anger. They carved a special place in my heart. Their story will stay with me.
Regretting You by Colleen Hoover is a MUST read. The only thing you’ll regret is not reading this book. 5+++ Stars!!!!!

This book is complicated. It’s about life, love and relationships. Some romance? Yes. Drama, hell yes!
Where do I even begin?!
This book was AMAZING. I couldn’t put it down even though it was wrecking me. I didn’t see the twists and turns coming. My heart hurt so many times yet it also soared. I wanted to scream out in rage and I had to suppress sobs. I was rooting for some characters yet physically yelling out reprimanding them. Why did I endure all of this? Because this book has everything I love. It follows a story that could happen or has happened to any us. It was realistic and genuine. It made me stop and reflect on my life. Overall this story made me FEEL.
Colleen is a master at crafting a story. This story was so well written and the characters were complex, realistic and relatable. The plot kept me guessing from the very first page and never did I feel bored nor did I think any of it was out of this world unrealistic. This book hooked me.
Without giving too much away this is a story about a family. Specifically centered around a mother and her daughter as they navigate series of complicated events called “life”. We, the readers, get to see how these individuals react to these events and see how life forces them to grow, change and take new paths.
You want to read an amazing story that will take you on a roller coaster ride!? This book is 1 million percent for you.

Once again Ms Hoover brings us a supercharged emotional read that drawing you into the world of her characters. Feeling their pain and sorrow, their love and loss.

This is a really hard book to rate and review. I don’t even know how to classify this book when it comes to genre. It was also incredibly emotional. That made it hard for me to read. I kept having to put it down, because I couldn’t handle these emotions. I did consider giving it five stars because it elicited such strong emotions, but my gut said 4 stars and I stick with my gut rating.
Ms. Hoover covers difficult topics: grief, adultery, parenting, etc. Reading about Clara and Morgan’s relationship was fascinating. It felt so raw and real. I cannot imagine what it would feel like to read this as a parent. Clara occasionally got on my nerves. She’s dramatic, selfish, and impulsive. But sh’es also a 16-year-old who is dealing with extreme grief. So, while she was annoying it was completely understandable.
This was very well written. It feels like a Colleen Hoover book, but also didn’t have some of the things I’m used to reading from her. It’s also nice to see her branching out beyond romance. I love romance, but authors should write what they want. All that being said, I don’t think I will ever read this again. It was just too intense for me. I do still recommend it, especially if you’ve enjoyed other Colleen Hoover books.
Thanks for reading!Holly

Regretting You is the latest stand-alone novel by Colleen Hoover. I honestly have no words to accurately describe all of the emotions I’m feeling-and have been feeling since I finished reading the book weeks ago.
While I want to shout all of the things I loved most about this book, I don’t want to spoil anything. This review will be semi short and sweet. This story resonated with me so much. As a young mother myself, I connected with Morgan. I felt all of her emotions down to my soul. I also felt Clara, Morgan’s daughter, too. She is going through the normal growing pains we all go through as teens, and is having a tough time.
Regretting You is so much more than what I thought it was going to be. It is a story about love, relationships, forgiveness, grief, and letting go. It takes you on an incredible journey that I never wanted to end. Ms. Hoover knocked this one out of the park! Highly recommend reading it!
I absolutely love everything that Colleen Hoover writes. Regretting You is story about a mother and daughter who go through some rough times but they learn to navigate through them together. This book is told in alternating POVs from a mother and her 17 year old daughter.
Morgan had her daughter at a very young age and she is determined to make sure Clara doesn’t make the same mistakes she did. Her overbearing ways make Clara rebel towards her and causes Clara to have a closer relationship with her dad and aunt Jenny. When tragedy strikes the family Clara doesn’t know how to deal with things and becomes even more distant from her mother. Morgan doesn’t handle it well and is struggling to find a new normal but knows she needs to pull it together for Clara. Will these two be able to rebuild their relationship and learn to lean on each other or will their life tragedy continue to push them apart?
I was so intrigued with the secondary stories that took place in the book and loved the outcome. The secondary characters added lots of depth to the storyline. I loved the twisty, turny emotional rollercoaster this book took me on. I was also a young mother so I understood Morgan’s feelings and actions in some of the situations in the book. Colleen’s books are all so amazing and I can’t wait to see what she is working on next!!
Oh how I love Colleen Hoover’s writing. I’ve long been a fan, ever since reading Maybe Someday in December of 2014. I was hooked from that first book, and I was so excited to have the opportunity to review Regretting You!
Regretting You tells the story of Morgan and her daughter Clara. Morgan got pregnant with Clara when she was seventeen years old, and put her life on hold to marry Clara’s father Chris. Now seventeen years later, Morgan is struggling with her next move. Clara thinks her mother is predictable and boring. She wants nothing more than to be an actress and go to acting school after graduation. After a tragic accident turns their world upside down, they are forced to come together to deal with the fallout.
In true Colleen Hoover fashion, Regretting You was a gut punch at several points. I came into the book with one idea about the plot and it threw me a curveball from early on. I won’t give too much away but be prepared to be emotional right from the beginning. It definitely felt reminiscent of her first book, Slammed, especially in tone, which I loved! I read it over the span of two days, and it was over all too soon.
Thank you to @netgalley and @amazonpublishing for the opportunity to read and review Regretting You!
