A perfectly adequate biography of Josiah Wedgwood, but a curiously lifeless one. It says it’s a “new” biography, but there’s a 1976 edition, and no indication that anything has been updated. A book isn’t “new” just because there’s a new edition. I found it a plodding and pretty dull account all round. Wedgwood is a really interesting man but the tone of the book is purely factual, with a heavy reliance on letters, many of which are quoted in full, which slows down the narrative, and although I learnt about Wedgwood, his family and his career, I certainly didn’t feel that I got to know him in any significant way. Unimpressive.
This was given to me from Net Gallery! It's about a man who was a craftsman in his own right who created a different kind of pottery art. I read through most of it but it wasn't really my cup of reading but this man created a lot of different art that we still see today. It shows the different kind of art he created in some pictures and he was in that time didn't believe in slavery that early in his time. For someone who is interested in this kind of art and this man did have a different kind of life It's a read for you! I really tried to get through the whole book!
