This was such a good read about an unlikely friendship between two women, Gray and Diana, over the course of a summer. There is romance and there is drama, and it is the perfect summer read! Great for fans of Elin Hildebrand.
I’ve been wanting to read a book by Kristy Woodson Harvey for a while, so I was excited to receive an advanced copy to review. Thank you to Gallery Books via Netgalley!
This was the perfect summer read. People in a small town who are unlikely to ever become friends in another life, now become great friends. They guide each other through a summer and make life fun and interesting.
** I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review**
Unless, that is, you’ve just lost your mother to cancer, your sister to her extremist husband, and your husband to his executive assistant. Meet Gray Howard. Right when Gray could use a serious infusion of good karma in her life, she inadvertently gets a stranger, Diana Harrington, fired from her job at the local pharmacy.
With Gray’s kindness, Diana’s tide begins to turn. But when her first love returns, every secret from her past seems to resurface all at once. And, as Gray begins to blaze a new trail, she discovers, with Diana’s help, that what she envisioned as her perfect life may not be what she wants at all.
I had a hard time getting into this book. Once I actually sat down and started reading it I was glad I did. I enjoyed the main characters. There was a lot going on in the book. At times I felt it was a little much. The bones of the book are excellent and the book was a good relaxing read.
It was a fun read, but I felt it was predictable. There were no surprises for me, just a nice no-thinking-required story.
This book read similar to an Elin Hildebrand novel for me, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, because I like her books as well. It was a fairly easy read, I enjoyed all of the characters, and of course the HEA helped to top it all off. I would definitely recommend this one!
Feels Like Falling by Kristy Woodson Harvey was a feel good, charming read. It really focuses on some important topics such as friendship, family, and romance ( second chance romance at that!). I love how the story alternated between Diana and Gray. I loved the characters within this book and even though they were so different from each other, they formed an amazing friendship. Overall, I really like this book and can't wait to read more from Kristy Woodson Harvey in the near future.
Actual rating:4.5/5 stars rounded up.
Gray is a planner and successful. She had never planned for a divorce. Gray's mother recently died from cancer. I really like the name Gray.Diana and her siblings were named after royalty. Harry, her partner,is nothing to write home about. She is thankful they never married. Diana is working at a pharmacy and in a tight spot with Harry gone. Gray has a son named Wagner. Diana's sudden involvement with Gray was kinda off putting . I liked going back and forth between Gray and Diana
Kristy Woodson Harvey's books are summer must reads for me! If you haven't read her Peachtree Bluff series, I suggest you go ahead and just put them in your beach bag, you can thank me later! Feels Like Falling is a standalone novel, still taking place in a beachy NC town. It's a story about family, life drama, and finding your own family amongst your friends.
This book was the summer read I was longing for. I couldn't put it down and yet, didn't want it to end.
It's summertime on the North Carolina coast and the livin' is easy. Unless, that is, you've just lost your mother to cancer, your sister to her extremist husband, and your husband to his executive assistant. Meet Gray Howard. Diana Harrington's summer isn't off to the greatest start either: Hours before losing her job, she broke up with her boyfriend and moved out of their shared house with only a worn-out Impala for a bed. Lucky for her, Gray has an empty guest house and a very guilty conscience. With Gray's kindness, Diana's tide begins to turn. But when her first love returns, every secret from her past seems to resurface all at once. And, as Gray begins to blaze a new trail, she discovers, with Diana's help, that what she envisioned as her perfect life may not be what she wants at all. review: Kristy Woodson Harvey does it again with this southern fiction book that's perfect for summer! I always love the author's writing and I really appreciated how she wrote about friendships, forgiveness and love in this particular book. While the two main characters Gray and Diana come from completely different backgrounds, their unlikely friendship was one that I really enjoyed and I kept rooting for each of them until the last page! I personally related to the underlying theme of the right people coming into your life when you least expect it. If you're looking for a lighthearted, but engaging read be sure to pick up this book! rating: 5 out of 5 ⭐️
Sometimes you pick up a book and it instantly becomes a forever favorite. Everything about it, from the characters, to the setting, to the emotional punch on every page, invokes that magical feeling that captures everything you love about reading. Without fail, Kristy Woodson Harvey’s novels always have that quality for me, and her latest, Feels Like Falling, may be her warmest and most special tale yet.
Kristy Woodson Harvey is a master at bringing compelling characters to life, allowing us to feel every heartache, every struggle, and every joy as if they are our own. Feels Like Falling blends humor and sadness, hope and unexpected surprises, and golden nuggets of truth you want to hold onto forever. As alternating narrators, Gray and Diana could not be more different, highlighting the fact that no matter what walks of life we come from or how it appears on the outside, as Diana puts it, “everybody’s got their own problems.” The relationships—whether romantic relationships, family relationships, or relationships among friends—are so richly complex and true to life. From the very first page, I was transported to the North Carolina coast. Feeling the sand between my toes and smelling the salt water in the air, I fully expected to find a red basket of fresh seafood in front of me when I set the book aside. Not only is this a perfect summer read, it’s a perfect read—period.
If you’re looking for a gorgeous book full of warmth, hope, and wisdom, look no further than Feels Like Falling. If you loved Kristy Woodson Harvey’s other novels, this book will secure a place in your heart next to Dear Carolina, Lies and Other Acts of Love, and the Peachtree Bluff series. If she’s a new author for you, get ready to fall in love—and clear some time to devour her whole backlist. As with all of her novels, Feels Like Falling is a glorious escape and a warm hug wrapped up as one—exactly the kind of book we could all use right now.
I couldn't of loved this book more if I tried. I loved the Peachtree Bluff series and Feels Like Falling was as equally fabulous.
Southern Fiction written the way it should be, in my opinion. Endearing, real characters and a story line that will keep you invested and engaged with those fantastic characters.
Highly recommend!
If you’re looking for a light beachy type read then this is it. It’s an easy read very predictable but entertaining for the summer.
Gray Howard looks like she has everything. Her company is wildly successful, her eight-year-old son is smart and talented, and she’s spending the summer in her beach house on the North Carolina coast. What could be better? Except that her husband has left her for his personal assistant, and Greg is planning not only to take half the company, but is insisting on shared custody of Wagner. To top it all off, her complaint about a woman working in the photo department of Meds and More gets that woman fired.
Diana doesn’t know what to do next. She’s just been fired from her job at Meds and More, has left her long-term but ultimately unsatisfying boyfriend, and has no other choice but to live in her Impala until she figures things out. After she visits Gray at the beach house, she is stunned when Gray offers her a job as housekeeper, and is even more surprised when Gray allows her to stay in the guest house. As the summer progresses, Diana becomes part of Gray’s inner circle and both women gain strength and confidence from their bond. When Diana’s first love resurfaces, she is better able to deal with the wave of conflicting emotions and takes the first step towards the expected and always enjoyed Happily Ever After.
This was a good read, a perfect book for a lazy Sunday afternoon. I liked both Gray and Diana; Gray for her drive and devotion to her friends and her company, and Diana for her courage in overcoming her difficult childhood. Trey and Marcy, other members of the inner circle, were instrumental in their support of Gray during her difficult divorce, but also showed Diana love and acceptance. I appreciated the theme of loyalty and strong friendship woven throughout the storyline, and I applauded Gray for finally figuring out what she wanted out of life.
This book was the perfect beachy read. While it was light and fun at times, at others it was thought provoking and meaningful. It really made you look into what makes family- is it only through blood or does it come from other bonds?
We have 2 different woman on 2 different paths.
Gray is a very successful CEO but who's also losing her husband in a divorce.
Diana is a woman who leaves her cheating boyfriend and ends up living in her car. These unlikely friends help each other navigate through their troubles and become so close.
I liked the cast of other characters that surround these 2 women and are in their lives.
A wonderful novel of two complete strangers and opposites helping each other figure out life. This is a terrific "beach read" but also great for this current quarantine. this book does spirit you away to another place as you watch these two strong women discover themselves. I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and the publisher and this is my honest opinion.
My first book by Harvey did not disappoint! I’ve discovered that a good southern coastal setting is a new favorite for women's fiction. I think fans of Hildebrand, Andrews and Frank will gravitate to this rising Southern lady author. Feels Like Falling is about women forging the unlikeliest of friendships while finding love and discovering themselves along the way. Add a little bit of romance and you've got a perfect front porch read! Pair with a spiked lemonade and a breezy afternoon. Thanks to netgalley for my free copy in exchange for my honest review.
I cannot praise this book highly enough ! The characterizations are perfection, the story so well crafted this book kept me turning pages into the night. Very well done to the author ! Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity for review. My review opinion is my own.
Gray is a main charcter that all women can relate to that have been cheated on and manipulated. She believed her life had it all until her husband left her while her mother. was dying. He not only left her for a younger version of herself he wants most of her company and her money. After that legal fight and the loss of her Mother drains her she goes to a pharmacy in a terrible mood and ends up getting a employee fired. Diana is now homeless and jobless living out of her car. They are two very unlikely women to become friends but when Gray offers her a spare room they turn out to be good friends in spite of the way they met. As the two women traverse life together they find that love comes and goes but friendship is forever. Kristy Woodson Harvey has written an endearing story of strong women friendships that is heartwarming and absolutely delightful.
Kristy Woodson Harvey gave us Feels Like Falling at the perfect time. I have found myself being drawn to light books set in the south that are somewhat predictable; this fits that bill. It is told from two perspectives, Gray who started a successful company but her husband just left her for an assistant and Diana who was fired from her job and is left without a home. The women come from completely different backgrounds but find each other at the right time. This is a story about family, forgiveness, and friendship. It is light and predictable, but fun nonetheless.
I received a free download of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book by this author that I have read and I really enjoyed the premise of the book. All the characters were fun and very likable and the book had a definite uplifting vibe.
