I work in the world of social media, so the premise of this book really drew me in. Social media influencer, Audrey, has just moved to D.C. and she quickly learns that it's also where one of her online super fans lives. Except this fan is actually a stalker, and he'll stop at nothing to get to her. Told from three points of view, Audrey, the stalker and Audrey's friend, Cat, "Follow Me" is a total thrill ride that will keep you guessing and flipping pages till the end. And afterward, you'll be rethinking all your social platforms and how you (and your friends/followers) interact with them.

“Follow Me” is a gripping, psychological thriller about a self-absorbed, social media influencer—Audrey Miller—who is stalked by a creepy, obsessed follower. Right from the get-go, this chilling story pulled me in and held me captive right up until the very end.

As the story unfolds, it is told through 3 different point-of-views, allowing the reader to gain a greater insight into Audrey’s life. But it also showcases how others perceive this creative, vivacious woman, and how they allow their own insecurities to color their biased view.

While I had pegged Audrey’s stalker early on, the author did throw in enough red herrings to keep my questioning whether or not I had gotten it right. I actually enjoyed second-guessing myself, as I wondered how it would eventually all play out. The ending itself was a bit “over-the-top,” but somehow fitting for this crazy little ride.

Sharing your entire life on the internet with strangers might not always be the best idea.

Audrey Miller is a social media influencer, who thrives off her one million followers. She shares her life on the internet, and lives for the interaction with her "fans". After she moves to Washington, DC, she reconnects with her old friend Cat, and rents an apartment in a basement.

Cat, her best friend from college, is a self conscious lawyer, who just wants to be as popular as her bestie. She is also in love with Connor, who seems to have a thing for Audrey.

Lastly, we got HIM, who is Audrey's own personal stalker. Basically a guy who is just too happy when she makes the move to DC. He follows her every move online, and now also in real life.

I'm going to be honest here. I didn't like this book. The writing felt repetitive and the characters were extremely shallow.

I didn't care for Audrey at all. It's hard to enjoy a novel, when the main protagonist is that unlikable. It just all seemed very unrealistic, and the choices made by her were unbelievable.

2 out of 5 stars for this one.

Thank you Netgalley and Gallery for the ARC.

Everyone wants new followers…until these fans follow you home. Audrey Miller learns this truth the hard way. She has an enviable new job at the Smithsonian, thousands of Instagram followers and a new apartment with a broken lock. While busy impressing her new boss and interacting with her online fan base, she must ward off her creepy upstairs neighbor with help from the only two people she knows in town: ex-boyfriend and part-time lover Nick and sorority sister now lawyer friend Cat.
But Audrey’s faulty door may be the least of her security concerns. She lives and works within striking distance of an obsessed fan who has followed her social media presence for years. In his quest to win her heart, nothing is off-limits—and nothing is private.
"Follow Me" kept me on the edge of my seat from page 1. Author Kathleen Barber uses an engaging writing style that tells the story from three different perespectives - Audrey, Cat and him (the stalker) and keeps the story moving at a good pace from start to finish. Several times, I thought I knew who the stalker was, but the truth isn't revealted until the end.
And the ending -- I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Wow!
This electrifying new thriller will have you scrambling to cover your webcam and digital footprints. despite the profanity and sexual content, I recommend "Follow Me," particularly to young people who feel like they're invinsible and safe online.

Holy. Crap. This book. This freaking BOOK. For fans of YOU, FOLLOW ME will send you on a crazy ride and start making you second guess everything you post on social media. I am thoroughly creeped out. I loved every second of this book.

This thriller is told from three POV’s:

Audrey: the confident, self-obsessed, professional Instagrammer with millions of followers,
Cat: Audrey’s best friend, who is awkward, conservative, and more than obviously jealous of Audrey, and
“HIM”: one of Audrey’s many online and IRL creeps...

This story does not lack in the THRILLER category at all and will definitely leave you lying awake in bed listening to every little noise you hear or think you hear.. It is fabulously written. I found it to be a slow, long burn that keeps you guessing and dying to know what happens!

Thank you to Gallery, NetGalley and Kathleen Barber for an eARC in exchange for an honest review (and a sleepless night)! ;)

This was an entertaining read, but it wasn’t without its flaws, starting with Audrey. I expected to relate to her easily: She’s a young adult in DC, I’m a young adult in DC. But Audrey came across less as a real person and more as a parody of a millennial. As the plot unfolded and creepy or unsettling things started happening to her, though, I was able to empathize with her.

Audrey’s friend Cat was far more relatable – I also have social anxiety and was bullied in school – although I quickly tired of her endless self-pity. Whereas Audrey was going through a legitimately scary experience, Cat’s problems were largely of her own making. There was a reveal involving her, and I was easily able to guess what it was from pretty early on.

The dialogue in this book was stilted and unnatural. Audrey’s “friendship” with Izzy was inexplicable and ended abruptly. Some of her interactions with her colleagues struck me as unrealistic. I could not have been less interested in the drama of Audrey and Cat’s love lives. And story itself was riddled with clichés.

The unexpected highlight of the book was Audrey’s unnamed stalker. His point-of-view was uncomfortable, almost painful to read, and intentionally so. I liked the short chapters and shifting viewpoints, which built tension and kept the story moving along at a quick pace. I’ve had good luck in that regard lately; this was the third book in a row I finished in a single day.

Follow Me is one of the few books I’ve read that contained feminist themes that didn’t feel clumsy or forced, which was a pleasant surprise. The reveal of Audrey’s stalker’s identity wasn’t a total surprise, but there were some red herrings along the way that threw me off the trail.

The ending was disappointing.

3.5 stars - rounding up to 4
This will open any readers eyes as to the possible perils of online postings of ones personal life and routine. Written realistically and believably, we may all know someone like Audrey, an online “influencer” of products on Instagram, with over a million followers. I do, and quite honestly it’s got me worried. Especially when the influencer is attractive and has a pleasing personality. Everybody loves Audrey, she’s vivacious and beautiful, always drawing eyes to her presence. One man, unbeknownst to Audrey, “loves” her too much and his obsessive attraction is the crux of this storyline, written by a knowledgeable author who has a law degree and has researched the topic effectively.

Written in three points of view: Main character, Audrey Miller, “Him” obsessed stalker who’s been following her online for years, and Cat, Audrey’s BFF since college.

The plot line is executed well and kept me vested in the outcome. The reader wonders about the identity of the stalker throughout the novel as there are several possibilities offered. It is eventually revealed in the surprising ending. Speaking of the end, it left me a bit let down. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but for one, it seemed to wrap too quickly, leaving a couple of questions in my mind.

My thanks to author, Gallery Books and NetGalley for the ARC, I’m happy to recommend his to fans of psychological suspense. Pick up your copy February 25, 2020.

A solid thriller on the spooky and relevant topic of cyber stalking!

The characters were well developed, the plot was fast paced, and I was kept guessing until the end. My only complaint was the slightly abrupt ending. I would have liked to see a bit more resolution, for one character in particular, but would definitely recommend for any and all thriller fans.

4 creepy, spine-tingling stars. If this book doesn’t make you reconsider your social media presence, I don’t know what will.

Audrey is a social media influencer of enviable proportions. She claims that her one million followers keep her company so that she is never lonely. She truly has it all, a loyal following, jealous friends, an incredible job. What she doesn’t realize she also has, is a stalker.

This book is told by three different voices, Audrey’s, her best friend Cat’s, and HIM. The chapters told from HIS perspective will leave you with goosebumps, while Audrey’s and Cat’s chapters will give you a relatable inside look at the lives of millennials in today’s world. There were so many different clues pointing to who HE could be but this book truly kept me guessing up until the very end. The plot twists and big reveal were nothing short of jaw dropping.

While sometimes reminiscent of “You” this book was entirely its own and I loved it for it’s unique take on social media and the things we choose to reveal about ourselves. If you’re looking for a chill-inducing tale of the modern times and the issues we face (knowingly or unknowingly) this is it.

Audrey Miller is an instagram influencer with about 1 million followers, what she did not expect is to be stalked obsessively to the point where she fears for her safety.

The book is narrated from different points of view, one is Audrey, the other one is Cat (Audrey's best friend), and the last narrator is "him". "Him" is Audrey's stalker and she suspects the this person could be anyone close to her.

The novel takes place, mostly, in Washington D.C. and moves at a fast pace. I enjoyed it, and the author did a great job at making us suspect that anyone close to Audrey's could be a suspect. I recommend it to readers of thrillers and mysteries.

Kathleen Barber's novel, Follow Me, is a fictional story, but one worth paying attention to, as more and more people share a large part of their lives on social media, not always with the anticipated results.

Audrey Miller is offered a much coveted job running the social medial accounts for the Hirshhorn Museum, and thus sadly leaves her much loved New York City for DC. Her boss went to bat for her, as she has followed Audrey on Instagram for years and thinks she will do an amazing job and Audrey wants to make sure she does not let her down. She found an apartment, site unseen on Craigslist, and is somewhat horrified when she goes to see it and it is a basement apartment behind a gate, with bars on the windows. Her landlord's grandson is extremely creepy, making it even less appealing. However, when her sorority sister, Cat, suggests she should stay with her in her beautiful apartment, Audrey turns her down as she wants to do this on her own. However, there are a lot of things that go bump in the night at her apartment and are those inklings that someone is watching paranoia or something real? Should she be afraid or should she still her overactive imagination?

Follow me is told in the voice of 3 people, "Him," Audrey & Cat. Through the three distinct voices, the story comes together for the reader, but it is hard to know who "Him" is until the end of the story. I thought I knew at different points along the way, but I was never right, which I appreciate in a suspense novel -- as I like to remain in suspense for as long as possible. This book delivered that, and wove a lot of interesting parallels in from what is occurring in Audrey's current life, from her job and from Cat's past and present, as well. Keep your eyes peeled and see if you can work this one out before the end.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of this watch-your-back suspense book!
Audrey is self-centered yet engaging, a young woman making it big on Instagram, or at least appearing to have it all on that social media platform. Among her enormous following, she soon realizes, is an enamored stalker. And, while she's hard-working, and hard to scare off, she's also hard-headed when it comes to her friends warning her to be careful.
But she won't be pushed or controlled, and as Audrey relies on her ex-boyfriend and old college friend, she slowly slips further into a scary situation that becomes out of her control.
This book will have you double-checking the webcam on your computer, and thinking twice about what you share on social media.
Audrey was far braver than I'd ever be, and her story has plenty of twists to keep you guessing as to who is behind the obsessive love!

Follow Me by Kathleen Barber tells the story of Audrey Miller, Instagram star, and her stalker. The whole story strings you along, not knowing who exactly her stalker is until the last few chapters. Releasing February 25, 2020, this is a must-read for anyone who posts their whole life on social media. If you enjoyed the Netflix series “YOU,” you will be thoroughly creeped out by this book.

I could not put this down!!! The author created a super unloveable main character yet somehow I was really entranced. It was like, I loved to hate her. The subject matter is really timely and I love how there was a lot of comic relief. I will definitely be recommending this to all my friends.

This book takes a look at the potentially extreme costs of an online social media influencer. Audrey has thousands of followers on Instagram, sharing every aspect of her life with them. When a new job causes her to relocate to DC, she doesn’t realize the opportunity presented to one of her more obsessive followers

Probably a 3.5 for me, rounded up to a 4. I liked it. I was definitely interested in figuring out what was actually going on, although I had my ideas. It was compulsively readable. However, there were definitely some things about the book I didn’t like as well.

I like suspense books and always have in the back of my mind wonderings about what I share online, even though that’s mainly to friends and family. So when I got an email from NetGalley about reading/reviewing this book early (thanks, NetGalley and the publisher!), I jumped on it.

The characters were just not very likable…pretty much any of them. Which means that while I loved the plot and the suspense, I didn’t really like the characters.

Also, I was still left with some questions at the end where I felt like previous details indicated something else. So I might reread it for those clues. A few questions stemming from the ending itself as well. It ended rather abruptly.

Worth the read if you like suspense.

Content Warnings: Some language and slightly open door romance.

Addictive and compulsively readable, Kathleen Barber expertly planted details and information that had me guessing who was "HIM" until the big reveal. Fans of Caroline Kepnes are in for a treat with this one!

I’m from the age of dinosaurs; I missed the tech age that “you kids” have grown up in today. So I love telling you it’s not safe, you shouldn’t make yourself so public, and like my mama used to say, we don’t hang our dirty laundry on the line for everyone to see.
Let this book be a warning to you Instagram users, it’s not that farfetched or removed from reality. Audrey Miller is an extremely popular (and shallow) Instagram user, to the degree that her account helps support her. But the world is full of unhealthy people, and in Audrey’s case, one follower is deadly serious with his admiration of her.
Audrey knows something is off balance, but determined to remain strong and independent for her thousands of followers; she sticks with her script and forges on. She works in an art gallery, and the new exhibit is actually something I’d like to see in real life. It’s a diorama telling the story of a young woman, a rising star, who is being stalked, then murdered. The detail of the artwork is impressive but it starts to cut a little too close to home for Audrey.
This is a fun, quick page-turner, minimal thought required, great twists, some characters we want to slap (Audrey), some we want to shake (Cat), but in the end, you’ll cover the camera dot on your tablet/computer/laptop and you probably won’t like animal crackers anymore.
(I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an unbiased review. Thank you to Gallery, Pocket Books and NetGalley for making it available.)

Audrey Miller lives in New York, sharing each moment of her carefully curated life with her million-plus followers on Instagram. Her signature style captured, artistically photographed, and posted for all to see. Her talent has just landed her a dream job, working as the Hirschhorn Museum's Social Media manager in Washington DC, and it couldn't have come at a better time.
Him- he has been following Audrey online for years, he knows everything about her, and now she is here...close enough for them to be together.

Follow Me is a thrilling and disturbing new novel revealing the dangers of oversharing personal content on social media. Audrey's character finds herself in a new town reconnecting with Cat, an old friend from school and her ex-boyfriend Nick. Soon after moving into a shady new apartment she feels as if she is being followed and begins to receive gifts. A cast of unsavory and secretive characters will have you questioning who is behind her unwanted attention. This was a slow start for me, partly because I didn't connect with Audrey's character, but thankfully the story picked up quickly and then I found myself unable to put it down. A thrilling new mystery that may hit a little too close to home for those of us that might be a bit social media/internet dependent. The perfect read to cozy up to... but just make sure to lock your doors and cover all the cameras on you devices.

I love character driven thrillers and this one hit it out of the park. Well developed characters, fast paced plot, and surprising twists kept me reading late into the night. Highly recommended.
