I really liked Evans' work talking about his experiences as a Black man, especially in relation to family and his neighborhood. So much of what he described was everyday but never failed to connect.

I found the poems in this collection Was very personal to the writer and it gave us a glimpse into his life, which is very well done. Unfortunately this collection just didn’t garner any connection in me to the author so it wasn’t as enjoyable to me as it may be for someone who can connect to having a child and family expectations. I enjoyed reading these poems on the whole.
