Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for providing an ARC in exhcange for an honest reveiw.

Dead to Her is full of secrets and deception among "friends". This novel is set among the elite in Savannah, Georgia. Marcie is the second wife trying to fit in among her husbands friends and wives
who grew up together. She had an affair with Jason and he left his wife and married her.
Yikes! What an uncomfortable start to a new life. Will she ever fit in? She isn't like the others. She's been married to Jason for 6 years when the novels starts and she is the youngest of the wives until her husbands friend and busines partner William brings home his new wife Keisha, who is 40 years younger than his first wife, less than a year after his wifes death. I say brings home because he was out of the country for a while which is how they meet. Keisha is younger than Marcie, carefree and beautiful. Marcie becomes jealous of Keisha and fears her husband is cheating on her. This part was very predictable to me. I knew which way it would go and wasn't surprised at all. Marcie being jealous of Keisha is not what the book is about but I don't want to spoil it. There is mystery and a lot of questions. The friend group is full of history and secrets. The characters are all developed so beautifully.
This is a very fun read and I enjoyed the ride. There is some black magic and I lost a little bit of interest. I kept getting all of the characters mixed up and was having a hard time with the their names. The novel started to move slowly somewhere in the middle for me. However, things picked right back up and I love the way it ended. It wasn't much of a suprise. I guessed all most all of what I think I should have been wowed by but I really liked the book. I have never read a novel by Sara Pinboruh but I will be starting Behind her Eyes next.

An insane psychological thriller that is reminiscent of Desperate Housewives meets a voodoo murder mystery.

This is set among a group of Savannah Georgia’s more wealthy couples with a back and forth narrative between a set of second wives to current business partners. Marcie Maddox is a well established second wife to Jason with a desperate want to climb to the top of the social ladder, she’s the youngest of the wives and has been building a steady respectable rapport over the years. In enters Keshia, the even younger new second wife to widower William she’s wild, sexy and eye-catching even to Jason second in line to take over Williams business once he retires. Lies, deception, sex, unearthing the past, there is so much to this extremely intensely twisting novel that always keeps you guessing. Sarah Pinborough is brilliant. This will be one of the most talked about thrillers of 2020 I can already see it. Go ahead and add this to your to be read stack it releases February this coming year and will make some serious waves.

Set among the exclusive upper echelon of Savannah society this is the story of 2 seconds wives and what they are willing to do to be a part of the group, or at least leave their own lives of struggles and poverty behind. It is a story that leaves you wondering if you can trust anyone and what is really the truth.

This was a quick and easy read, but not necessarily an excellent one. The beginning started off with promise, but the characters became more and more unlikable and the content shifted to unnecessary sex scenes (especially with the old guy — blech!). Add in voodoo and you’ve got one helluva strange plot. Not my cup of tea.

Thank you to NetGalley, HarperCollins and William Morrow for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a bit too soap-perish for me...little mystery...lots of drama. Some of it silly. The book started out good but dropped off in interest almost like someone else took over writing. The middle of the book dragged and then in the end the book sort of redeemed itself. I would probably not recommend this to anyone but I can see how it might appeal to another kind of reader. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy for review.

Once again Sarah Pinborough knocks it out of the park. I absolutely loved how strange this book was. If I hadn't already read Behind Her Eyes and Cross Her Heart and loved them I probably wouldn't have picked this one up but she has me as a devoted fan now!

The beginning of this book caught my attention and I was anxious to see where the author was going with this story. As it progressed I became less involved and cared less and less for the characters. The voodoo references were off putting and I began losing interest. There were enough twists and turns that propelled the story along so I held on and finished the book. All in all, I just don’t have intense feelings for the story one way or another. #DeadtoHer #netgalley

Marcie is Jason’s second wife and Keisha is William’s second wife. Both married into high-powered wealth, both have questionable pasts and all have secrets..

When stunningly beautiful Keisha unexpectedly turns up as William’s new bride, temper’s start to flare in Marie and Jason’s relationship, and the bad juju’s start to flare all around.

A mysteriously steamy thriller that toddles with both a domestic thriller vibe and a southern voodoo vibe. This book is not at all what I had expected, and I will admit, there are bits and pieces in it where she lost me for a few minutes because of it teetering away from the domestic thriller sense, but I was still unable to put it down! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I thank #NetGalley, HarperCollins, and Sarah Pinborough for the opportunity! #DeadToHer

This really was one of those jaw dropping reads that all of you thriller lovers will want to read in 2020.

I stared at the pages like this 😳 and then a little of this 🤭 and some of this 😱 too. This book has scandal, jealousy, and plenty of drama to be a guilty pleasure read. It takes place among members of wealthy Southern high society where the superficial pearl clutching wives worry about being displaced by a younger attractive and more interesting new wife on the scene. The story has a lot of adult scenes and and sexual moments so definitely don’t read it if you’re not open minded to that and all that it entails.

Overall, this was a high quality chick-lit read. It’s dark, disconcerting and even has some voodoo mixed in to spice things up. The main characters are all unlikable and it was interesting and chilling to read from these sketchy AF perspectives. It wasn’t what I was anticipating. This story is unique and goes out in a blaze of haunting glory.
3.5 stars out of 5 and rounded up to 4 for this review.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Just like her last book Sarah Pinborough's newest book comes w/twists, curveballs, and some definite wtf's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This book had me not wanting to put it down and if I had to thinking bout when I could pick it up again. We have Marcie, a hot youngish woman who married into high society. Enters Keisha, a younger hot woman who also marries into the society club, whom Marcie began to suspect is after her husband. Well Marcie is not putting up w/that crap and is not giving up her husband, and their lavish lifestyle for anything in the world. Thank you soooo much to Netgalley and William Morrow for my honest review

2.5 stars. I thought Behind Her Eyes was fantastic, and I liked Cross Her Heart, but this one just didn't do it for me. I actually really enjoyed the first half or so, but after that it started to feel like such a slog and I didn't care about these people at all. If you like reading about rich people problems you might enjoy this one, but I often enjoy books along that line and couldn't get into it here. By the end I just didn't care what happened to any of these characters.

DNF at 20%. None of the characters were likable, relatable or interesting. A very flat storyline and became a chore to read. I am not typically one to fall asleep while reading, but after 3-5 pages my eyelids would drop. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, but I hope my next NetGalley read is more entertaining.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an ARC of Dead to Her.

Dead to Hear left me guessing what was coming at every turn. I flew through this book wanting to know what was next. Pinborough left me thinking about the characters even when I wasn't reading. This is my second book by Sarah Pinborough and I can't wait to read more!

Dead To Her explores revenge and its long reaching tentacles...Marcie is married to Jason; she’s a second wife who doesn’t quite fit in with the Savannah society ladies, but even she is a better fit than William Radford’s new, MUCH younger wife Keisha. As Keisha bewitches the men and earns the contempt of the women, Marcie’s paranoia multiplies as she’s convinced that her husband will betray her with Keisha. There’s more at play here, however; Marcie’s own dark past isn’t quite buried, and it makes her a suspect when people are targeted, money is missing, affairs are suspected, and secrets long past are brought back to life.
Savannah is clearly meant to set a gothic yet proper setting for this novel about society gone wrong. However, Pinborough would’ve been advised to research deeper into the complexity that is Savannah; her perspective is cliche and uninteresting. Voodoo, old murders, mistresses...none of it gains focus as the plot is overly crowded and unclear. The pacing is languorous, which works partially, but suspense never quite reaches the needed fever pitch to make this a win.

Having read and liked Behind Her Eyes, I was pretty sure I would enjoy this, but I really didn't. Right from the beginning I found in rather bland and off-putting, I could tell I didn't want to get to know these characters, the plot and setting were not adding much either. I pushed through and the payoff wasn't really there.

No doubt about it. The girl knows how to spin a yarn! Sarah Pinborough’s new book Dead To Her may not have quite the mind blowing conclusion of her novel Behind Her Eyes however there are twists and turns aplenty to satisfy a thriller reader. The plot sometimes requires a blurring of one’s logical sense but that is worthwhile for this enjoyable book.

This was my favorite Pinborough book. Think Big Little Lies meets Gossip Girl. A great female led noir. Check this out!

Wow! Unexpected...that’s the word I choose to describe this book. Parts of the plot initially had me thinking that the reader would be drug through the story, listening to superficial problems of the rich elite. What I got were MANY differing perspectives and interesting points of view from quite an array of characters. And beginning around the middle section of the book up until the last page the twists and turns really starting reving up, leaving me wondering what was coming next! The story had you asking "who did it?" about so many things... The book was an engaging mystery that had my brain trying to put together all the pieces of the puzzle. Excited to read more from this author in the future!

I am a huge fan of Sarah Pinborough. She is an exciting writer to me because she is so creative I honestly never know what I am in for when I pick up one of her books. This one was no exception and with a cast of unlikable characters it was fun to sit back and see everything unfold.

Marcie Maddox and her husband, Jason, had an affair that resulted in him leaving his first wife and eventually marrying Marcie. They hobnob with other wealthy and elite people in their town of Savannah, Georgia. One of those privileged folks is William Radford IV who has just married a much younger and beautiful woman named Keisha. Marcie is not too happy when she notices Jason and Keisha seem to have an attraction to one another. Marcie better keep her eyes on them because she's worked too hard to maintain her lifestyle and would hate to be kicked to the curb like Jason's first wife.

There is way more to the story than what I just wrote in my synopsis but you honestly don't want to know too much going in. What I enjoyed about this book is it is a very slow build up until you get to the big thing that happens in the story. I personally loved that but maybe other readers will find it boring. I feel like this is the type of book that readers can determine fairly early on, like a quarter of the way into it, whether or not this is a book they want to continue reading.

Once the action really starts to pick up, everything starts to hit the fan, but in a good way. In terms of predictability there is something that I wondered about early on, and my suspicions turned out to be true. But it's one of those things in which I didn't really have a good theory as to the details so it was still fun to learn why everything played out the way it did. Also there are some I guess what you might call bonus parts to the ending that were pretty unexpected so it's not likely a reader will be able to figure out every single piece of the puzzle ahead of time.

This is my favorite of the three books I have read by this author. I just think she is a creative storyteller and I look forward to reading more from her in the future. Definitely recommend reading this one if you have enjoyed her other novels. I also recommend it to the readers who liked Behind Her Eyes but hated the WTF? type ending. This one is a more satisfying type read that is much less controversial.
