It was an enjoyable read, certainly unpredictable until the end. Book started off a little slow in the beginning, but soon got speed, and was gripping until the shocking end.

Slow at times but full of intrigue and scandal. The short chapters make it easy to keep reading. i have read quite a few similar books though lately and this didn't stick in my mind after finishing.

The Last Wife was a bit slow at times, but for the most part, it made up for it with a compelling story.

Unfortunately a DNF for me, I will try again to finish at another time. I have seen some other really great reviews so I will give it another go

Good story, short chapters which made it an easier read,, but I did find it slow going at times. I would recommend however as a holiday read, but it was very similar to other books I have read that is why I can only give it 3.5 rather than 4.

This book was a bit of a slow burn for me and was filled with family drama. The chapters were short and snappy which I really loved. It was a book which I couldnt put down. I look forward to reading more of her books.

A complex, suspenseful plot with tension so thick that it felt palpable. Wonderfully-developed characters with depth and substance. I was immediately drawn in and held captive from beginning to end.

This was just an ok read for me, I struggled to get into the story and I disliked the characters. I would however read more books by this author,

Ria married into the Parker family and lived a happy life with Grayson Parker and their daughter Shelley - until Grayson disappeared leaving her to raise their daughter alone. This forces Ria to lean on the Parker family who she feels has never accepted her and live a high class lifestyle where Ria doesn't fit in. She accepts help particularly from her mother in law May and sisters in law Ashlin and Shamira. What follows is a drama filled story full of money, secrets, lies, murder and corporate dodgy dealings.
I enjoyed this book! It wasn't one of my favorites but I did finish and liked it.
Thanks to Nicola Marsh, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

"The Last Wife" was mind-blowing. I don't' know what else to say but it threw me for a complete loop. It was thrilling from start to finish and keep me on my toes the entire time. I didn't know where the story was going nor did I want the book to end. It was intense and insane. Ria and Grayson's marriage fell apart but she stayed part of their rich, famous family... that is until she gets threatening emails about the darkest family secrets. She needs to find out who knows their secrets... and why the women in the family keep having near-death experiences. Ria has to do this while keeping away the attraction of her ex-brother-in-law and trying to maintain her job. What happens at the end of the book, it will surprise you and make you question everything.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are of my own and are unbiased.
3.5 rounded to a 4.

I did enjoy the book, mainly, however i found parts were a bit slow going and over done. I would still recommend as not everyone will have the same opinion and I just found this to be similar to many I had already read.

Still a good read.

Your husband walks out the door to never return. Now you are left alone to raise your daughter with no real explanation of what happened to your spouse, or even why he may have disappeared. Luckily, you are not completely alone. Your in-laws remain in your life, providing support…kind of. See Grayson grew up in foster care so the is not the type of person that her husband’s family welcomes with open arms—at least not all of them. Grayson does not really fit in with the family, but she has no idea how much or of the secrets that are being kept. This book was a real page-turner. I thoroughly enjoyed the exploration of Grayson’s life, as her slow realization that not all is at it seems to be. I would recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

My thoughts
Would I recommend it? Yes , in fact I did a buddy read of it with a friend and she loved it as well.
Would I recommended it? Yes
This is my first time reading anything by this author but it won't be my last because I have one other of her books to read and that's the The Scandal and after reading this one I can't wait to read that one .Can't believe that it took me this long to read this and I've had it since last year. In fact I couldn't sleep so I decided to read and wow after starting this I couldn't or wouldn't put it down, I kept telling myself that I after a few more pages I would stop. While as you can see I didn't stop. The story has all the stuff I love in this type of thriller , a strong woman that will do anything to protect her daughter, dark secrets that could make or break a family, a psychopath ( ok maybe a bit harsh, but I'm calling it as I see it), twist and turns , and not known who you can trust besides yourself. With that said I want to thank Netgalley for letting me read and review .

Wow what a thrilling fast paced read. I loved the way the chapters were separated by each of the characters, most of which weren't very likable but interesting none the less.
I totally didn't see the ending coming!
I look forward to reading more by this author.

Initially, I found this novel to start off slow. But my curiosity was peaked from page one, so I kept reading and was so glad I did.... The last third of the novel was action packed and I was barely able to put down.

I felt like I was watching some American serial-drama when reading this! The Last Wife is a story about a rich and prominent family in Chicago who runs a big corporate business that is worth millions. The family matriarch May is always gathering her children and their spouses and her grand daughters for glitzy family gatherings, even though they really don’t want to. Ria a stand-alone at the gatherings and has been since Grayson her husband left her an her daughter 5 years ago, but May has been there for her the whole time. After she receives a strange email about her in-laws, it starts to change the way Ria thinks of her husband’s side of the family. When all these strange “accidents” start to happen to them and Ria sets out to uncover the source of who is behind it all before someone seriously gets hurt or worse.

The Last Wife is a fun, gripping read, bursting with a bunch of characters that you can’t trust. I had my suspicions about everyone at one point. Told in short, punchy chapters the suspense starts in the very first chapter and doesn’t let up till the end.

The Last Wife is all about the plot, it’s by far the book’s strongest point. I’ll admit I did work out what was going on about halfway through the book, but nevertheless a good few unexpected twists and turns kept me more than entertained. There were a few plot holes and unlikely scenarios (a lot of things happened due to pure chance) but the unusual premise for the story made up for that and gave a satisfying conclusion. The story did seem to end quite abruptly but that has laid the groundwork for an even more intriguing sequel.

Bursting with suspense and a protagonist that will get under your skin one way or another, The Last Wife is nail-biting till the end, and I genuinely am looking forward to the sequel. There HAS to be one!

This novel makes you question not only who you’re marrying, but the family you’re marrying into. The narrator’s husband may have left her, but she is still dealing with his family. Trying to make the best of the situation, is she putting her life in jeopardy without realizing it?
