I want to move to Apple Grove. I don’t know how my husband is going to feel about moving to a fictitious town but hey, he would if I asked him to go. I love reading about small towns and all the people the inhabit them. There are some good contemporary series out that have small town feels and I would have to say that C.H. Admirand’s Small Town USA series is going to be one for you to sit up and take notice. A Wedding in Apple Grove is a fun, heart -warming love story where everyone knows everyone’s business and all look at for one another and quite a charming place to reside.
Meg Mulcahy is the oldest of 3 sisters who run a handy man business in the small town and never want to live anywhere else. She has this on and off again relationship with Jimmy, a local boy playing in the NFL now, and she’s been waiting years for him to propose and return to marry her. But she knows that it’s not going to happen and she’s a little disillusioned about love and romance. What she didn’t count on is falling, literally, into the arms of her future love. Meg’s a hard –working, honest, caring individual and loves her family and her town. Dan coming to town sparks something in her and you see her starting to take chances and grow. It warmed my heart that her friendship with Honey B. came first before her own happiness and didn’t want any harm to come to her when she started internet dating. She is the kind of friend I would be glad and honored to have as my own.
Dan Eagan is moving to town to become the new phys Ed teacher and soccer coach when he sees a young woman walking on the top of a fence like it was a balance beam. Seeing that she was about to fall he caught her and they felt an instant attraction which scared him. He’s moving to town to start over from a bad love affair and doesn’t trust his heart to anyone right now but his libido didn’t get the memo. Dan might have had intentions of getting to know Meg before they jumped into bed but sometimes good intentions don’t always work out the way you want them to. I like him and once his side of the story came out I can see why he wanted to go cautiously. Thank goodness he had his great aunt Trudi there to guide him and also the Sheriff to show him the ways to her heart and how it’s done in this town.
Not only did you get one love story but another one between Mitch and Honey B. I thought their story was funny and just showed you the familiarity of all the people in town and how much they know about each other. There isn’t any big conflict to hammer out but sorting out feelings once and for all that Dan and Mitch come to realize. That’s okay with me because I want to come back and see how everyone is doing and what’s new with the people in Apple Grove. Ms. Admirand writes form the heart about small town life and the little things that matter to most individuals, like family, love and friendships. With simple easy to read dialogue and poignant moments dabble throughout the book; she captures the feel of simplicity of life at its best. Definitely a book I would recommend.
