I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book so I was excited when it opened with a dramatic start involving a child in peril. It was an intense way to show the readers the reality of the sudden premonitions that Evie has lived with her whole life. It was balanced out by comedy with Evie hating that she had to run because she hates running. Unfortunately the beginning of the novel had much better pacing than the rest of the novel so it started off well but went down hill with its constant repetitions and unnecessary scenes.

Evie lives on a charming island with a small town feel full of eccentric characters like her mom and aunts who are known for skinny dipping and wild parties even in their 70s. She has a menagerie of animals which could have been fun but with so many of them it quickly got old when they were repeatedly referenced without much point. I think it would have been better if limited to a running joke like with the constantly escaping goats than the unnecessary mentioning of all of them. In a similar fashion is Evie’s sister Jules who quickly gets irritating. The only thing going on with Jules is the never ending discussion of her sex life with her fiancé. Obviously this does nothing to move the story forward and quickly gets old. I could have completely erased her character and much improved the novel.

The blurb mentions a DNA test that will have huge ramifications but this does not actually happen until about two thirds through the novel. There are flashback scenes that give the reader an idea of what is going to happen before Evie sees them coming. It’s pretty obvious what the flashbacks will mean for her. I cannot say I found it very interesting. If anything I found the parallel villains in both storylines frustrating. I also disliked the very thin excuse keeping the true loves apart. Honestly I would have preferred more about Evie’s premonitions and the lengths she went to in order to help people. Obviously this is not something you can just tell someone and expect them to believe. I think the novel was at its best when it was Evie and her premonitions or her adorable take on bake goods. This novel was just ok but with better editing I do think it could have been great which is disappointing. I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I will review this on Amazon or B&N on Oct 29, 2019

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book, this is my honest opinion of the book.

I loved All About Evie by Cathy Lamb, all I can say is WOW! This was one of the best books i have read in a long time. I loved Evie what an awesome character she was, but i also hurt for her and the pain she endures during the book. I would love to live in that island community sounds like a fantastic place, with lots of amazing neighbors. This book was able to pull so many emotions from me, I laughed and I cried. I would certainly recommend this book to everyone.

All About Evie is sure to be another best seller by Cathy Lamb. You can't help but fall in love with Evie and her sweet eating ways! Her crazy, eccentric mom and aunts make you want to move to the beautiful San Juan Islands and visit their flower shop for some flower, lotion potion, and laughs.

Evie is so endearing and quirky herself. I think many-a-bookish people can identify with her introverted book-loving personality. Her menagerie kept me laughing throughout and was a great launching point for the connection between her and hunky Marco.

Evie's "gift" of premonition makes her feel anxious and alone. She wonders why no one else in her family has "the gift" since it seems like it would be genetic. We get the answer to this question and its heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time.

I loved this book and would recommend it. Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Well, I really wanted to like this book... but I really didn't. Honestly, I wish that I had bailed on it. But, I kept giving it more chances because it's such a book made for book lovers - and tea lovers, too. First of all, I mistook the author's name for a different one altogether (I thought that I read something by this Cathy, but this is my first experience). Right there, I should've stopped rather than continue to somewhat spoil my vacation by reading this book that I started to actively hate.

The rambling style quickly becomes repetitive and frankly boring. And while the first time Evie justifies cakes, pies, cookies and other sweets into "health" food, it's mildly amusing, but by the fiftieth time and the book isn't even halfway over, it becomes just grating. Plus, the book is all telling - very little is shown. I did like Betsy's sections a bit better, but this life of a 37-year-old quirky book/tea/cake shop owner on an island off Washington's coast quickly became anything other than fun to read. There are a lot of nods to feminism, but the female bonding itself is actually pretty nil. I never connected with any of the characters (and really just wanted to shake most of them). I really wish that I had just set this one aside rather than continuing on to the end. I just couldn't believe that a book that has so many animals, books and tea (all of my favorite things!) could be such a miss for me!

I liked this book. It was interesting and really pulled you in from the beginning because you wanted to know what would happen with Evie and the things that she sees. Cathy Lamb wrote characters that you care about and want to see more of including Betsy in the flashback chapters that focused on her. My one issue with the book is the description makes a huge deal out of the DNA test but it doesn’t happen until over 50% into the novel and it’s so insignificant to everything else that’s going on that I didn’t even care about it. Sure there needed to be a reason for Betsy and Evie to meet but it was clear the entire time to the reader the story was leading up to them meeting and that could have been engineered in anyway without the throw away ancestry.com esc part of the plot. So much focus was put on the cop being a terrible person and Marco that I wanted more t be about them and completely forgot what the book had been described as because I enjoyed it so much.

Part of me wanted the premonition to come to pass because Evie went to visit Jules and that was how she found out who her real mother is during the crash not have it be a throw away in the last 15% of the book and have everything wrapped up so quickly afterwards. It was a bit of a disappointing ending but the rest of the book and how well it was developed was SO GOOD. It talked about depression and things people go through when they feel alone and how something can change their life forever (for Evie it was her dog Sundance) and if the ending hadn’t been so quick it wouldn’t have felt like it was just tying up loose ends as quickly as possible.

Setting in the San Juan Islands in the Pacific Northwest, this is a story about Evie and her quirky family.. Evie has always had premonitions and as an adult, they can lead to life-changing events. Evie's sister Jules is getting married on the island and decides to do a DNA test,, wanting to know the family heritage. The results blow apart everything Evie has believed about her past and lead her to research further.

Evie's investigation leads to betrayal and hurt; her gift becomes a curse.

Genres for this book are suspense, family relationships.

#AllAboutEvie#NetGalley#CatyLamb I loved this book. Tears (at one point I cried off my eyelash extension), laughs (some are actual belly laughs) and just a great story! I would so recommend this book if you are looking for a substantial story without too much angst. Great and very well written.

I am a huge fan of the author Cathy Lamb and All About Evie is a fantastic story that is unlike any I have read.

Evie is the main character and she has premonitions, ever since she was a little girl. She is a book lover who owns her own bookstore, aptly named Evie's Books, Cakes and Tea. The descriptive writing was so well done I so wanted to go visit Evie's shop.

I really enjoyed reading all about Evie's animals, that made me laugh out loud .

The characters are well written, complex, flawed and even mysterious.
The story is so well written and the author is not afraid to cross genres.
This novel is about family, love, life, and guess what? There is a mystery in here as well.

So many wonderful elements to this story, I loved every minute of it.

Eleanor Oliphant meets Hocus Pocus = All About Evie. I loved everything about this book! From adorably quirky Evie to her eccentric, kooky aunts and mother, this book has mystery, laugh out loud moments and a bit of romance. Cathy Lamb has created such relatable characters that I wish they were my family! This is my first book by Cathy Lamb but I will definitely be reading her back list!

I tried and tried to read this book. The beginning was fantastic and I couldn’t wait to see what the rest had in store, but I was thrown off by too many details about food, flowers, and animals. I just couldn’t push through no matter how much I tried. I kept reading pages over and over again until I finally gave up.

I am sure this book is perfect for many readers out there, it is just not for me.

Cathy Lamb newest book is a five star read. Evie has some problems. She has premonitions which cause her to feel a burdensome responsibly for others. She has a mom and 2 aunts who illegally grow marijuana. She has feelings for a man she cannot have. She lives in a quaint town with a wicked nasty Chief of Police who is stalking her. Read this book to see what happens to Evie. Fast paced and delightful this novel has characters that will have you howling with laughter and sobbing in sorrow.#AllAboutEvie #NetGalley

This was a very well written book. Cathy Lamb did an excellent job with this story. So many emotions reading this book. I loved the aunt's and the mother, they made me laugh out loud! One chapter brought years to my eyes while another had me smiling. To be able to see the future would be a blessing and a curse. This is definitely a must read!

WTF In All The Best Ways. The marketing for this book is all "premonitions and DNA tests", and honestly, while that certainly applies to the tale - premonitions play a central role in the two primary lives involved and there is indeed a DNA test that allows them to find each other - that aspect to the book is not so major as to warrant being the primary marketing focus, to my mind. Instead, this is a funny in an off beat kind of way (think: escaping goats and aunts who start a pot business to fund an Antarctic expedition) tale of a woman who has a full life yet is searching to find that one missing piece. The Beauty and the Beast allusions of the cover illustration are spot on, but again, a minor if recurring point. Overall a very strong book, but one that is quite a bit more humorous than the marketing and even cover may imply. Very much recommended.

Cathy Lamb's newest character's unconventional lifestyle creates a fun read. Evie owns a bookstore/cafe on an idyllic island in Washington. Living close by, Evie is blessed with support from her mom and two aunts, all ladies in their seventy somethings.

Evie loves animals, parenting horses, cats, dogs, goats, and two llamas. Joe, the spitting llama, is the freakiest creature of them all. Evie works all day at her beloved bookshop and holds reading groups on different types of books almost every night. When not working with a group, Evie is at home eating with her aunts or in her cottage. Evie lives on the same property and is always happy to come home to her animals and the beautiful beach.

Life seems perfect, but there is an underlying issue that surfaces early in the story. Evie has problems with stress caused by what some people call a 'second sight.' She sees, or senses, what is going to happen to people, either way in the future or a few seconds. Evie has learned many coping strategies for the stress these feelings cause, but she cares deeply for her veterinarian, Marco. Feeling sure that her presence in his life will cause harm to him, Evie turns down all of Marco's invitations.

Be prepared for many exciting sub-plots and descriptions of heavenly cakes in this story. It is funny and sad and definitely worth the read!

Thank you to NetGalley, Kensington, and Cathy Lamb for the ARC of this unique novel (Oct. 29th).

Evie lives on a a small coastal island in Oregon, where she owns a bookstore. She sells baked goods as well as books. The cast of characters who came to the book store were delightful. Evie is not only a book lover--she also loves animals. She has dogs, cats and llamas and goats. She is also in love with a guy named Marco. But Evie has a problem. She has premonitions and sees the future. None of her other family members experienced premonitions.

With the the help of her sis, Evie uncovers secrets about herself and people around her.

Evie's mother, aunt and sister were a delightful cast of characters, who I found endearing.

The plot was i intriguing, well developed , and fun all at once.

All About Evie is a story filled with love and laughter, family and furry friends, happiness and sadness, with a little bit of mystery thrown in for fun! Quite simply, it's a beautiful, funny, thoughtful portrait of Evie, her quirky self, and her eccentric family and friends. Cathy Lamb presents a perspective on life, love, and possibilities different than any other I've read before. A truly engaging read from beginning to end that will stick with you for days after reading the last page. Highly recommend!!

I am usually not one to like books with premonitions, supernatural forces, etc., but this book really captured me! Evie is a young woman who loves her animals and her family. She has had premonitions her entire life. The stress of these premonitions is obvious when she feels she must rescue those who are in danger. Evie is blessed with an eccentric family and lives in a small island town. Will she fall in love? Will she uncover the mystery of her past? This was a great read that had me laughing and crying. I was not able to put the book down and read into the early morning hours. Great writing!!!
