though it was a little drawn out with descriptions , I did really like the characters , Evie is a lovely girl who has premonitions , she finds out something that will change her life and perspective of how she grew up , overall good read .
Thank you Netgallery for and advance copy of All About Evie. This review is my opinion and not Influence by anyone. Evie has had premonitions since she was a little girl. Her mind and emotions are often ringed rare. Deciding who to help and whose premonitions to let go is hard work. She moves back to San Juan Island and opens Evie's Books, Cake and Tea hoping to quite the noise in her head down. Surrounded by people she loves, her fur children, and her books she learns to except who she is. Your going to wish you could visited Evie's bookstore for tea and delicious desserts. That and visited Poppy, Camellia, and Iris's gardens and make hats. This book is like sitting around with a room full if bestfriends munching on your favorite piece of cake.
I really enjoyed this book. Evie and her premonitions lend to a very interesting read. It is a book that will keep you up reading and enjoying the story.
Her aunts are so funny and help the story move right along,
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this book!
Cathy Lamb has created such delightful characters that I didn't want this book to end. I adored Evie (a girl after my own heart with a love of books and animals), and I especially loved her relationship with her mom, aunts, and sister.
Thos book had a bit of everything---Romance, mystery, murder. I laughed and cried, and I adored it!
My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All about is about a woman named Evie who loves her animals and has lived her life trying to deal with the premonitions she has around other people's deaths. She lives with her mom and her quirky aunts and has a motorcycle loving sister who is currently planning the biker wedding of the century. The side plot happens in the 70s with a woman named Betsy who is delivering her baby in prison, and who is also plagued with premonitions. I really enjoyed this read. It made me laugh and cry. I think if you like Cathy Lamb books you will love this one as well. Thank you for allowing me to read an advanced copy.
Ok, you know the saying "don't judge a book by its cover". Silly me took one look at the cover and for some reason thought All About Evie was a mystery. It's not.....well, maybe kinda-sorta. But not really. It's a story about love, all kinds of love. Love between siblings, love between couples, undying maternal and paternal love, and love that is just waiting to bloom. Throw in some crazy, but loveable aunts, psychic premonitions, and a menagerie of animals that will warm your heart.
Interesting read. Full and colorful characters. Detailed writing to help you imagine and understand what is going on. Laughs along the way as well as sincere and deeply emotional moments.
“All About Evie” is one of those books that will make you laugh out loud one minute and ugly cry the next!
Cathy Lamb has a unique writing style. The story was both entertaining and intriguing. You can tell she really took her time in developing each of her characters.
Evie has had premonitions for as long as she can remember. Sometimes they are a blessing and other times they are a curse.
She lives with her mother and 3 aunt's. They are a fun, colorful bunch! They are strong, independent, witty, hilarious and crazy; you can not help but fall in love with them all.
Evie loves books, she owns her own bookstore and she has a huge love for her pets. All 10 of them! The one thing I really loved was how each of her beloved pets played a roll in the story. I especially loved her cat, Garfield.
There are twists I did not see coming and Evie had some really tough decisions to make.
I was given this book by the author in for a fair and honest review
4 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
I expect amazing things from Cathy Lamb and this book did not disappoint! Lamb has crafted some of the most vibrant, intriguing characters I have ever come across-- I dare you to read this and not want to share some pie with Evie, or spend a little time in her aunts' greenhouse. A story of what truly makes a family, and what truly makes a person whole, All About Evie is filled with laughter, love, and a little mystery thrown in for good measure. I loved the alternating viewpoints from Evie and Betsy, and how seamlessly Lamb blended their stories together, without ever giving too much away or leaving too much in the air at one time. The mermaid story told by Evie's father brought magic to her chapters, and I was battling tears by the end. The sheer number of animals (not to mention their names!) brought me immense joy throughout the entire book, and I was happy they were given as much attention as their human counterparts.
I have never closed one of Lamb's books without feeling spellbound and a little disappointed in the real world, and this was no exception.
Thanks to NetGalley and the author for my advanced review copy. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Evie has been plagued with premonitions since she was a young girl. They caused her to retreat to San Orcanita island, where they are somewhat less frequent. She lives there with her wide assortment of rescued animals, near her mom Poppy, and her aunts, Camellia and Iris. Evie runs a bookstore called Evie's Books, Cakes & Tea. She has her store, her books, her animals and her family and for the most part it is enough. But she is in love with the local vet. She refuses to go out with him because she has seen what will happen if they are together and she can't let that happen to him. Then when her sister ropes her into doing a DNA test to learn more about their ancestory she uncovers secrets her mom and aunts never thought would be uncovered.
This book was so good. It had a great storyline with fun, kick-butt female characters. This is perfect for fans of Alice Hoffman and Sarah Addison Allen.
Thank you Cathy Lamb for sending me an ARC of this book! It was quirky and fun as well as being sweet and touching. Evie is a wonderful character and you will be rooting for everything to turn out right for her. At first, the different timelines were baffling but in the end it all comes together in a satisfying way. You don't want to miss this one.If you're already a fan, this is right up your alley. If you're not, this will make you a fan!
Thank you so much to the author, Cathy Lamb, the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book for an honest review.
This was such a fun and charming book. I loved that Evie had premonitions, and that the author was able to bring you into her world each time that she had one, and that everyone knew about her premonitions and believed in her and her world.
It came as a shock when Evie realized that her family wasn't her blood family however finally knowing her past helped her to understand her premonitions much more, and she became a better person/character for it.
As always, Cathy Lamb, hit a home-run with this book, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!! If I could give this one 10 stars, I would.
“All About Evie” by Cathy Lamb
“All About Evie” … so much love in this book! An Island where everyone watches out for each other, small-town love…also, deep passionate love, but Evie cannot act on that love because of her lifelong premonitions. She can’t risk it because of what she’s seen and knows will happen. She’s saved so many, now can she save herself? I want to read more from Cathy Lamb! 5 stars! – Green Gables Book Reviews
Evie has so many wonderful things in her life! She has her Mom and her free spirited Aunts that she loves so much. She has her soon-to-be-a-bride sister, Jules, she has her animals, and (swoon) their Vet, Marco, and the love of people in her town. She has her dream bookstore and is very successful. She is everyone’s friend.
Evie also has premonitions. These premonitions are something she has had since she was a child and she has saved many people from harm. Some of these times were big events, like running into the street to save a child from oncoming traffic, others were things no one knew she had a part in, like slashing bike tires to save someone from having a bike accident that day. Unfortunately, Evie has had two premonitions that have been with her for a long time. And, they haven’t happened yet. One of them has caused her life to be altered to save someone she loves and the other…she hates to even think about.
Evie’s sister, Jules, is so in love and so excited about her upcoming wedding, that her enthusiasm is contagious! So, when she comes with DNA tests, to find out more about their family’s past, what’s the big deal, right? Why are her Mom and Aunts acting so strange? When Evie’s results come back, everything starts to make sense, but nothing makes sense. What does this all mean and can she finally deal with the premonitions she’s had her whole life and the one’s she’s been waiting to happen?
5 stars!
All About Evie by Cathy Lamb
This wonderful book is about Evie. Evie has premonitions. She has had them all of her life.
Premonitions can be good or they can be bad. They can be about people you know and love or they can be about total strangers. Premonitions cannot be controlled. Evie has learned to trust her premonitions. But what happens if the premonitions change?
Evie lives on an island where she runs a book store. She has several animals who also keep her on her toes. She lives an idyllic live. Except for the premonitions.
Journey with Evie as she learns to navigate her past and her future with the help of her family and friends. Can Evie find happiness while coming to terms with the past?
You will not what to put this book down. I look forward to reading more from Cathy Lamb.

This book took off with a bang and never slowed it's roll. Evie is a character you will fall in love with and long remember. She is quirky, funny leads a strange life including having an alpaca as a pet! Evie also has a bookstore and her premonitions.....well. Quite an enjoyable read.
Hands down one of the BEST books I’ve read this year. Cathy Lamb is truly a terrific author. I fell in love with so many aspects of this book: quirky interesting characters, beautiful setting, the main character, Evie’s love if books and animals, and of course the story itself. It is full of family love, heartache, pain & sorrow and magic thrown in.I also liked that it is a generational story, switching back and forth between the timelines. I even cried on the train finishing up the last few chapters. Please read this book!! Thanks Cathy Lamb for an advanced copy of this truly wonderful novel.
I loved All About Evie by Cathy Lamb so very very much. I laughed, I cried, I was moved beyond measure. Evie is such a fantastic character! Haunted by premonitions, adored by her family, surrounded by her beloved animals, she is a bad ass woman who loves fiercely and protectively—and she loves cake and pie! I want to visit her bookstore so badly, have her feed me cake and pour me tea as she sells me books!! Besides Evie and her animals, the rest of the characters are quirky, adorable, and wonderful. Except for the bad guys—men who rule with fists and power and ego who bring an edge to this story which deals with abuse and misogyny and injustice. I’ve learned with Cathy’s books to expect the unexpected; I know that there will be hilarity and poignancy, that there will be achingly tender moments interspersed with moments of woe and even anger. All About Evie is all of those things, written in Cathy Lamb’s unique style and voice. Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for providing a copy of this book.
This is my first time reading Cathy Lamb so I wasn't sure what to expect but the synopsis of All About Evie sounded interesting. It didn't take long to get hooked to the quirkiness of Evie, with her premonitions, and her fun loving mother & aunts! The side story of Evie's birth parents ran smoothly alongside and came to a nice resolution. Thank you NetGalley!
This novel tells the emotionally compelling story of one woman’s life changing discovery about her past.
I liked this book as it was very delightful
Would highly recommend!
I really can never say enough about Cathy Lamb's books. They are wonderful! I often say to myself "Who thinks of these crazy things?" Well, Cathy Lamb does. The characters are hilarious! The story itself is always touching and yes, I did cry a few tears. All about Evie is another great read! Premonitions......hmmmmm.......I don't know if I would be able to handle that! #AllAboutEvie #NetGalley
