Oh my gosh...you can never go wrong with a Cathy Lamb novel! All About Evie is a superb novel that will make you laugh uproariously and maybe even cry a little too. This novel got me through some dark days. I always know I can count on Lamb to take my mind off of my problems. This novel drew me in and hooked me from the first page. Don't miss out on this one!
This book grabs you from the beginning. It’s beautiful cover and exciting opening chapter pull you in. Evie loves book and her family. She can also see the future. She uses the premonitions to help save people but she is also haunted by premonitions about her own future that are not very bright.
Evie is a very interesting character. She gives herself to help everyone either through her premonitions or helping them find new books in her bookstore. I love to read so this trait was extremely interesting for me. Evie has very interesting aunts that keep her on her toes and I loved them. They added so much to the story with their antics. This is a great book and I highly recommend it!

Eve has lived her whole life with premonitions and one in particular that is particularly unsettling. I liked getting to know Evie and her quirky family, especially her aunts. I would love to see this book as a Hallmark movie. I think it would be perfect!
In ALL ABOUT EVIE Lamb delivers all of the humor and pathos we have come to expect from her wonderful books. Evie lives a lovely life on San Orcanita island, where she runs her bookstore, takes care of her odd assortment of animals (including alpacas and a three-legged dog) and eats many delicious and lovingly described desserts (I usually avoid sweets but Lamb's descriptions made me crave - and then give in to my cravings - sweets while I read this one). But Evie's life is far from perfect - she is clairvoyant and her days and nights are sometimes disrupted by her need to try to change the premonitions she receives about friends, family and strangers. And her premonitions keep her from the man she longs for - Marco, the local veterinarian. Luckily, Evie has her mother and mad-cap, bawdy aunts around to keep her steady. But when a new sheriff comes to down and fixates on Evie, old secrets are exposed and Evie learns she is not who she thinks she is.
Cathy Lamb has done it again! This is such a sweet story that is perfect for that afternoon sweatshirt, coffee and a book. Sure not everything is perfect in their world but it all feels manageable. The characters are individually developed so well and are so unique that you need to remind yourself that they are not real. I want to call or stop by just to chat and catch up! EVIE’s menagerie of pets is adorable and hilarious.i was born and raised in a large city so I really enjoy the contrast to a small town where everyone knows everyone. I crave this bookstore and Evies barrage of excuses for her slice of daily pie. This book has something for every reader in it and it must be moved to the top of your tbr list. Pub date is Oct 29th. You will fall in love with Evie, and her crazy and wacky entrepreneurial relatives. Do not mistake my comments as “fluff”. There are intriguing and Interesting threads throughout the book. Love love love. #netgalley @kensingtonpublishing. Thank you for contacting me and offering the opportunity to dive in early to this exceptional book!
This was my first time reading a book by Cathy Lamb. At first I thought it was a weird, quirky kind of story, like nothing I had ever read before. But the further I got into it, the more I enjoyed it. Was it odd and different, definitely, but it was really entertaining. There were times that I found myself laughing out loud and then times when I actually cried. I thought the main storyline was really good. The characters were fun and eccentric. I loved how Evie told herself that all the treats she was eating were good for her and had nutritional qualities. And her having premonitions really made the story unique and interesting. Overall, I thought it was a really good story and I enjoyed it a lot. I was indecisive as to give it a 4 or 5 star rating so I went with a 4. I’d like to thank Cathy Lamb, Kensington Publishing Corp. and NetGalley for allowing me the privilege to read an arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
All About Evie's synopsis IMO gave away too much of the plot - there was a bit that didn't come out until midway through that was maddening to keep waiting for to spin everything else off. Beyond that bit, I really enjoyed this novel and getting to know Evie and her family (even if her sister annoyed the crap out of me).
This book follows Evie who can see the future and how she's isolated herself on an island to slow down the visions and try to live a life as normal as possible. She runs a bookshop and at home has quite the fun menagerie of animals at her side to comfort her.
What happens when Evie falls for the local vet whose sad fate she's seen ahead of him?
Overall this was very enjoyable and a great choice for October for the witchy aspect.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for an eARC copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
Just now finished "All About Evie," and may I just say WOW! So good! I loved the setting in the beautiful Pacific Northwest San Juan Islands, one of my favorite places to visit...loved all the characters and her animals and that she owns a bookstore that serves up books, tea and cakes, that she has premonitions, and that she has a funny, endearing family, is in love with a hunky veterinarian...Then a life-changing incident happens. What a whimsical, magical, mysterious storyline! Such a wonderful roller-coaster, emotional ride of a story! I laughed out loud and cried at times, too! Thanks Net Galley for an ARC. 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 This book is going to fly off the shelves! Cathy Lamb is one of my all-time favorite authors and "All About Evie" is without a doubt, one of my favorite books of 2019.
I love this book! It is wonderful with totally believable quirky characters. Everyone who loves to read should get this book. You will not be disappointed!
All About Evie...a story that has the most unique characters! I have to say, I found the story beautifully quirky. I had many laugh out moments while reading this but, I also had crying moments. Very emotional read .
The main character is Evie. She has had premonitions since she was a young child. This is her story on how she manages these premonitions with the help of her delightful, crazy, hat making Aunts and her mother.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Kensington Books and author, Cathy Lamb, for the opportunity to read the arc of All About Evie for my honest review.
I received a digital advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first novel by Cathy Lamb and I thought it was truly magical. I was drawn in from page one and it put me in my feels throughout. Lamb did such a wonderful job at world building that I found myself torn from wanting to actually be on the island with her wonderfully unique characters and feeling like I was already there.
When I say All About Evie made me feel all the things.. I mean it made me feel ALL THE THINGS. I laughed, I cried, then I laughed some more. This story stuck with me days after reading it. I found myself thinking about this story days later and smiling because it exists.
The characters are unique and hilarious but still incredibly relatable. I really wish I could meet them in real life. My favorite had to be Betsy and I really wish we could get an origin story on her. I loved her story line. I need to know more about her time in prison.
All About Evie made me ugly cry but I loved every second of it. I highly recommend this book if you want something truly engaging and easy to read.
A special thank you to Cathy Lamb, NetGalley, and Kensington Books for the opportunity to review this title. It was wonderful.
This review will be posted on www.featheredfables.wordpress.com closer to the publication date.
This is the first book I have read by Cathy Lamb.
Evie is different, she has premonitions about people getting hurt and does what she can to change the outcome. She owns an independent bookstore in the San Juan Islands of the Pacific Northwest. Her mother, two aunts and sister are everything to her.
When Evie takes a DNA test her life is about to change forever.
A quirky book that I loved! Loved the characters and all the animals!
Laugh out loud moments, tears, some twists and turns made this a very entertaining read.
Thank you NetGalley, Kensington Books hand Cathy Lamb for the opportunity to read this book.
There’s not a Cathy Lamb book I haven’t loved, but this one. I’m sure was written just for me. With her quirky characters, beautiful setting, and luscious dessert descriptions, all marks are hit for an entertaining read. Mostly subtle social commentary, offered without hitting one over the head, makes the story feel fresh and current. Lovely descriptions of a fabulous bookstore (and bookstore owner), as well as frequent mention of wonderful desserts, and the requisite hot male, keep one reading and laughing - and appreciating.
This read is just right.
Cathy Lamb is my go-to author when I need a feel-good book. Once again she did not disappoint with this one. In pure Lamb fashion, I fell in love with the characters from the start and Cathy's witty and eccentric bunch had me laughing and crying!
What can I say? Cathy Lamb has done it again. Loved this book. So many feelings, thoughts , laugh out loud moments.... highly recommend it!!! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book for an honest review.
I would rate this book a solid 4-1/2 stars. I have read a number of books from this author and like the rest…this book is starts out with a bang and does not let up after that. ! This story had all the elements needed in a good romance novel …first, and foremost: a good story plot, a budding romance, humor and a bit of suspense to tie it all together. The major characters had such chemistry between them that they were absolutely charming. The secondary characters were quite entertaining …I absolutely loved the mother and aunts and their interaction with each other”! I will say, though, the story line about Betsy, Johnny and Tilly absolutely gutted me! I was utterly engrossed with this novel . . . I lived inside this book for two days—and I'm still thinking about it I am so looking forward to more from this author …so, Ms. Lamb …bring it on!!!
I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
What a fun quirky book! I loved all the characters and all her animals! Loved the fact that everyone knew about her premonitions and believed her. I thought this was a really good story! Thanks to Netgalley for the early copy. Definitely recommend
I just loving reading Cathy Lamb and this one didn't disappoint. It's about a woman named Evie who loves her animals and has lived her life trying to deal with the premonitions she has around other people's deaths. She lives with her mom and her quirky aunts and has a motorcycle loving sister who is currently planning the biker wedding of the century. The side plot happens in the 70s with a woman named Betsy who is delivering her baby in prison, and who is also plagued with premonitions.
Most of Cathy Lamb's stories have a group of characters that are unique, witty and hilarious. The people involved in Evie's life are these people in this novel and I wish I could meet them in person. They have the ability to make you laugh out loud, shake your head in disbelief and of course, get teary eyed
If you are a fan of any other of Cathy Lamb's books then you will love this one. It has all of her unique writing style mixed with mystery, love and family.
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced reading copy!
One of the loveliest novels I've read. AND, in my opinion, one of Cathy Lamb's best. Not only was the story fun, sweet, and yet sad - the language, phrasing and pacing were a delight. I'll be telling everyone about this one.
Cathy Lamb is one of my favorite authors. Her books have character, love, and hope. This book has all that and more. Evie Lindsay has been been have premonitions all her life. They are sometimes good and sometimes very, very bad. She has developed a way to deal with them and if possible even help those in her premonitions. Growing up, my mom always has a "psychic friends network" so the idea of someone having premonitions is not foreign to me. I really enjoyed the way it came alive in this book. I love that Evie even denied that it was happening.
Betsy, Johnny, and Tilly's story is heart-breaking. They all lost years of their lives and someone they all loved dearly. I can't image what it was like to have your child taken from you and then denied even visitations with that child.
Evie's mother Poppy and her Aunts Camellia and Iris are a delight. Who wouldn't want crazy hat making feminist in their court? I loved how much they loved and how free and kind they were. Jules (Evie's sister) was just as enjoyable. I loved their bond and how much they loved each other. There is so much wonderful in this book I can't possibly do it justice. So READ this book for yourself. You won't be disappointed.
