The Seduction of Lady Phoebe was an enjoyable read featuring an unconventional heroine.

Lady Phoebe Stanhope has never been interested in the pursuits other young ladies her age engage in. She'd rather be spending her time driving her stylish phaeton with its perfectly matched pair of horses throughout London. But when she encounters Marcus Finley one day, she finds herself drawn to him in a way she's never been drawn to a man before. Lord Marcus has loved Phoebe from afar for years and now that he has returned to England, he hopes to convince Phoebe to marry him. But Phoebe is not easily won and it will take everything Marcus has to convince her that he's the right man for her.

The book opens with Marcus and Phoebe eight years ago when Marcus tried to show Phoebe his feelings before he had to leave for the West Indies. Unfortunately Marcus was drunk and did a terrible job at it which resulted in Phoebe decreeing she never wanted to see him again. We then jump forward eight years to Marcus's return and when Phoebe learns Marcus is back, her first instinct is to flee to London to avoid seeing him if that gives you any idea how affected she still is by what happened. After the way this book opened, I was interested to see how Marcus would manage to redeem himself in Phoebe's eyes as he certainly had a lot of work to do to make things up to her.

Marcus and Phoebe's romance is slow going at first due to their past. When Phoebe finds she's still attracted to Marcus after all these years, she struggles with her feelings as she has a hard time reconciling what happened eight years ago with the man she knows now. I enjoyed watching Marcus get back into Phoebe's good graces but at times I was frustrated by how long Phoebe denied her feelings. Eventually the pair work through their issues and I was happy that they ended up together. There's also a plot of a nefarious villain in the background that wants Phoebe for himself and while I enjoyed the addition to the plot, the situation was dragged out longer than it should have been.

Overall The Seduction of Lady Phoebe was an entertaining read and I'm definitely interested in checking out other books in the series.

Such a beautiful cover and story. Definitely picking up more in this series to see where it goes. A little intimidated by the series length but I’m very interested

I eecieved a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a re-release of the novel. Overall I did enjoy this book. There were flaws and I dont think I completely am over how Marcus acted towards Phoebe in the first chapter.
Marcus came back from the banishment and was really sweet and I loved how he was willing to let Phoebe take the lead.
I also liked how supportive the family was of the relationship.
3.5 stars

Phoebe and Marcus's story in The Seduction of Lady Phoebe is one for the books! The premise of the story brilliantly planned out and the characters are fun and spunky. Depspite Marcus's fallbacks, he is a wonderful hero who deserve to find love in Phoebe. I highly recommend this entertaining romance!

I enjoyed the beginning of this. The get to know each other was cute and fun. Some cute traditional moments. But largely unremarkable and I found myself putting it down more often than wanting to pick it up and continue reading it.

Then I hit the middle and it felt like pulling teeth to get through it. It was so painfully boring. Nothing was happening and the villain was just uninspiring and cliche. He lurked too much and instead of giving me an ominous presence, it felt more like a nuisance.

Lastly, I found the romance unconvincing. I don’t feel like I got to know them. There was no push-pull, very little for them to be attracted to. And they had very little depth.

I am not reviewing this book on any public platform because I skimmed the whole last half. I just wasn't compelled to finish it.

This book was so bad I finally skimmed to the end to see if it got any better. It didn’t. In trying to figure out what I disliked so much, the word that came to me was superficial. To me, it read like a high school writing assignment. No depth to the characters, no real feeling, and not a very interesting story. I see this was the author’s first book and other reviews insist her other titles are better.

A cute hero redeems himself story. A sweet tale of a young man who has to work double time to redeem himself in the eyes of a woman he wounded rather badly when she was young. I would have liked Marcus to have to work a little harder to earn Phoebe's trust back, she was rather emotionally scarred by his behavior.

Phoebe Stanhope is not a typical Lady. As feisty as she is quick witted, no one can catch her, especially when she is driving her dashing phaeton with its perfectly matched horses. And unlike her peers, experience has guarded her against a growing list of would-be suitors. But when she encounters Marcus Finley, what she fears most burns deep within his blue-eyed gaze.
For Lord Marcus, the spark of recognition is but a moment in the love he has held these many years. Now that he’s returned to England, all the happiness he desires rests on Lady Phoebe never finding out that he was the one who turned her heart so cold and distant. He must work fast to gain the advantage—to convince her what she wants is exactly what she denies—but in order to seduce her into his arms, he must be willing to give up more than he can control.
This was a decent read. The relationship between Phoebe and Marcus is decent enough, but some things were added that I didn’t feel was necessary.

Steamy romance with adorably cute heroine. Very good read for lonely and long nights. This book cept me not only entertained but I believe it was one of the best books of this author.

Lady Phoebe Stanhope is nothing like other young ladies. Even at twenty-four she has no wish to marry, not since an unwanted kiss from a man she fancied herself in love with eight years ago put her off men and marriage.

Lord Marcus Finley has loved Phoebe since he first saw her eight years ago, but after a drunken attempt to express his devotion went miserable awry, and due to his scandalous behavior, he was shipped off to Jamaica. Now his brother is dying of consumption and since he has no sons, their father, the Marquess of Dunwood, has demanded Marcus' return as heir to the marquesate. As such, he must marry and the only woman he wants is Lady Phoebe, if only he can convince her he's the one for her, preferably before she recognizes him as the same man who fell so far afoul of her eight years ago.

Marcus' behavior was unacceptable, but I think Phoebe's reaction and the grudge she held were rather much. To not bother to get to know any other men and to refuse forgiveness to Marcus just struck me as rather hateful, even if it was billed as her protecting her heart. She's also extremely judgmental of men in general and Marcus in particular, which is problematic given that she admittedly has avoided interactions with men so I have no idea how she's forming these opinions. Phoebe leads Marcus on terribly and insists on judging him by one unfortunate incident from his past while not really trying to get to know the man he has become. This made their whole courtship rather boring to read. Phoebe also seems baffled that Marcus is considered a catch and is desired by other ladies. This just seemed ridiculous and haughty to me and made me dislike Phoebe all over again just when she was starting to grow on me just a bit. Marcus poured his heart out to Phoebe and then tried to give her the time and space she needed to make her decision and she promptly began to doubt his sincerity and intentions and whether he still wanted to marry her, even though he had given her no reason to doubt him. I just couldn't with her.

All these issues with her aside, Phoebe did improve when she finally admitted her feelings to herself and to Marcus and quit being quite such an air-headed ninny. However, as the story progressed it got rather bogged down in details and became a bit boring. The villain popped up, then quickly went away for some time, only to pop up and be dealt with in such a manner that the book's ending felt a bit abrupt to me. I'm still not really sure why Marcus put Phoebe on such a pedestal, as she came off as rather arrogant and high-handed to me much of the time, but I liked Marcus and I did nonetheless enjoy the story when it wasn't languishing in minutiae.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Solidly on the fence again with Ms Quinn.
The Pro's - The heroine is kick-ass and can look after and defend herself, be it with pistols, swords, or an acerbic wit.
The Con's- The heroine being a complete twit at 16 and then not gaining any perspective later in life, for something that was an accident, under the influence of alcohol, and excessively minor. For a woman who has a take charge can do attitude for all other elements of her life, I found her refusal to reassess after time, or acknowledge that perhaps things weren't as she first supposed, exceedingly tiresome and childish.

All of Ella Quinn's books are fantastic!! You will be happy with them and always be craving more! Book 1 of The Marriage Game series brings you Marcus and Phoebe's story.

Lady Phoebe Stanhope is definitely her own woman! I loved her from the start! She is strong and confident, but still cautious after her initial meeting with Marcus, Lord Finley.

He'd been so stupid. Ruined it all and ended up banished. But now he has finally returned and will do whatever it take to win Phoebe's heart! She has held his for eight long years.

I understood Phoebe's hesitance and loved Marcus's persistence! This whole series or wonderful! Be sure to also check out The Worthingtons series by Ella Quinn! There is nothing I like more than when characters series hop!!

Phoebe and Marcus’ is one of my very favorite Ella Quinn books! Phoebe is a sweet heroine with an intelligent mind and a string disposition. Marcus is a hopeless romantic but learns that Phoebe’s affections will be heard to win after the way he treated her when they were younger. This almost feels like a second chance romance which I adore. There’s a bit of danger involved, a little mystery, and a truly engaging plot. I wouldn’t say there was anything particularly unique about the book but I adored the characters so much, it felt fresh and new. Ella’s writing flows well and I never felt confused which can sometimes happen in historical romances with elaborate family trees and friends. Very excited to continue reading Ella!

A delightful debut by Ella Quinn! The regency historical fiction is a perfect blend of romance, excitement and snark. A must read if you love steamy romances lead by a sassy woman.

Lord Marcus Finley is the younger son of the Marquis of Dunwood. After graduating Oxford, with nothing to do, and at loose ends, he falls in with the wrong crowd and before he can create a scandal, his father banishes him to the West Indies. At a house party shortly before he leaves, he falls in love with Lady Phoebe Stanhope, who will become his sister in law, once his sister and her brother marry. At the party, Marcus drinks too much and makes a drunken pass at young Phoebe, who until that moment had thought him nice and handsome. But she punches him in the nose, dresses him down and tells him to be gone. During the next eight years, neither marries. Marcus is still in love with Phoebe and Phoebe refuses to marry anyone she is not in love with. When Marcus's older brother is dying, he is called back to England. He has matured into a strong but compassionate man, managing the estates and becoming a leader, mostly because he wants to be the man that Phoebe deserves. She has never forgotten or forgiven him, but after he twice saves her, before she recognizes who he is, she agrees to let him prove that he has changed and court her. While she leads him on a merry chase, they find that their ideas and views are very compatible, but there is a villain, who want revenge on Marcus and Phoebe for himself.

Strong characters and an original plot make this a compelling read. I read an ARC from NetGalley.com and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

I actually read this book when it was first available years ago. Ella Quinn is one of my favorite authors; so, I enjoy reading her work any time or rereading her work. As a reader who loves second chances, this one is one of the best. Marcus has grown tremendously during the ‘separation’ following the mess he made of his relationship with Phoebe all those years ago. It is going to take more than just a little courting to win her trust and love. Phoebe has grown and matured during that time, too. She is unique for the time period and let’s Marcus know he must get it together.

I enjoyed this book. I like how maturity can change a man and how time can bring two people together. It was an enjoyable read but better if you have read the ones before. There was a lot in this book to keep you reading. There was, of course, a sex scene which this reviewer skipped. I received this an ARC and am happy to do my review.

This book is a re-release of Ella Quinn's debut novel. The is the first book in the Marriage Game Series.
I enjoyed reading Phoebe and Marcus's story. They meet when Phoebe 15 and Marcus 23. But Marcus is being banished to the West Indies because of his derelict conduct. Before he goes he decides he wants to tell Phoebe he loves her and ask her to go with him. But as usual he is drunk and he basically attacks her, gropes her. She knocks him out with a right hook and leaves him groaning on the floor. Phoebe was upset, scared, disillusioned. She wants nothing to do with Marcus ever again.
9 years later Marcus is back. He has changed, matured. He is determined to set matters straight with Phoebe and make her his wife.
Phoebe has something to say about that. She still wants nothing to do with Marcus and does whatever she needs to do to avoid him. But Marcus is determined. So the adventure begins.
I want to thank netgalley for the chance to review this book.

I found The Seduction of Lady Phoebe to be an addictive but flawed book. I LOVED the main character of Marcus. He was like a dream come true...gorgeous, wealthy, patient, humble and 100% in love with Phoebe. This character was the reason I could not put down the book. I needed to know more about him and see what he would do in every situation. The plot really dragged on. I just wanted to move the story along but it just kept circling the wagon. I felt the story should have ended at the 70% mark. The villain side plot didn't seem needed.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.
