This was a really fun book - witty and charming, it didn't take itself too seriously and the over the top drama was minimal - the perfect distraction for an afternoon of regency fun. Recommend!

Why is he leaving?

Have they even had a conversation?

Such a double standard.

So he would still be banished if his brother was healthy.

Very cute kids.

That dinner sounds delicious.

I have never heard of the Peep O' Day Boys.

I would have liked her parents.

I guess telling her he was her rescuer would not help matters.

Their families are having too much fun with this.

She let him off the mat fairly easily.

Pirates?

That guy is nuts. Insulting her and being misogynistic is not the way to a lady's heart.

Oh joy, he's a murderer, too, this one.

Poor guy can't even order tea at home.

Holy moly, he's not just rich, he's Richie Rich!

How does she not see that everyone is pushing them together. Plus, it might be safer to be engaged.

Aw, I love that she made sure the children are okay with hr marriage.

That's a long time to wait for a ring to be won. Lucky she was born in October, else who knows when they would have seen the ring again.

Ugh, Lord Dunwood sent his own kid away, so he shouldn't act so high-and-mighty paternal now.

So many cock-blocks.

Delusional little man.

For the love of Pete, it's just tea!

I read Anna's story before.

Happy wedding day. Poor Marcus.

Yeah, that would go over well.

Attagirl.

Haha!

This story was ok, not one of my favorite from Ella but something to pass the time. we have a second chance love affair between Marcus and Phoebe, Years ago these two liked each other but Marcus tried to grab a kiss from her and was sent away for it. Now he is back and more mature but he never forgot .Phoebe, but she is still holding on to that and now I think she needs to let it go...Finally they do and we get our HEA

This is a re-release of one of Ella Quinn’s first published books. Marcus falls in love with a very young Phoebe and gets a little aggressive in trying to show her his love by kissing her. She punches him in the nose. He leaves the country for 8 years. When he comes back he knows he still wants Phoebe. Independent and strong, yet skittish of men, Phoebe takes a long time to accept his suit. I think the book could have been shorter. I received an Arc from NetGalley for my honest review.

Enchanting and captivating are two words I’d use to describe this book. The characters where so well written and believable. You could almost feel them. The storyline was so well written and drew you in. If you enjoy historical fiction you’ll enjoy this book. I can’t wait to read what this authors writes next.

Lord Marcus Finley falls in love with Phoebe Stanhope, in an instant. The only problem is that his father is banishing him to the West Indies. After consuming too much alcohol, he finds himself desperate to declare his love. Yet Phoebe is only 15 and in his drunken state, his kiss is not what she expects, nor does he expect the punch that Phoebe lands on him.
Yet eight years later, Marcus returns to England, a changed man but will it be enough to win the hand of Phoebe. Phoebe is doing all that she can to avoid him, despite his sister having married her brother. Whilst everyone believes that they will make the perfect couple, it will take some convincing on Phoebe’s part.
Whilst this story was fairly well laid out, the gradual development of a romance, was sufficient to make for an interesting story. Through in a villain, who is desperate for Phoebe’s attention, and the story became quite entertaining. Entertaining dialogue and interesting characters, made for a great read.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Absolutely loved this fun story. Luke is a hot alpha male. Sophie gets exactly what she didn't know she wanted. Hooked from the start. Read this in a day. Had to know how everything turned out. A must read.

Marcus has been in love with Phoebe for years. He mucked it up with her as a callow youth before being sent to the West Indies for bad behavior. Phoebe has hated Marcus for years because he insulted and tried to kiss her when she was a young girl- just before he was sent away. Marcus has finally been called home and he wants to make Phoebe his wife. It is an uphill but entertaining battle.

The characters are wonderfully drawn and the plot has nice twists and turns - and this sexy tale can get hot. I would recommend this book to patrons.

I loved the story of Marcus and Phoebe. This book was obviously published prior to this release but it was wonderful to meet some of Ms. Quinn's earlier characters prior to the Worthington series. I loved this family and hope we get to see Anne and Emily's stories in the future.

The first chapter touches on how Phoebe and Marcus have a history. A very brief and for Phoebe, a rather traumatizing event took place and she just cannot get over it. She never wants to set eyes on Marcus again, even after 8 years have passed.

Marcus fell into insta love with Phoebe the moment he saw her. He calls her his vision and it was kind of adorable how much he was certain they were meant to be together. However, he is young and arrogant, and has quite a lot of growing up and maturing to do, though he would never admit it. After 'the incident', he is banished to the West Indies (for other reasons as well) and he truly grows into a man and can admit his past mistakes.

After 8 years, he returns to England. He still cares deeply for Phoebe and only wishes to make her forgive him and allow him to make her happy. Phoebe hears of his return and flees to go shopping in London and visit friends, anything to avoid being in his presence.

This book fits something I have been missing lately. While not a totally conventional female, as she has been given much freedom with her 'older age', she is very much aware of the social requirements of the time. There is a scene that just screamed regency romance that I loved where she is standing with a man, whom she *gasp* hasn't been introduced to, and they were standing so close that her ruin would have been imminent if her aunt hadn't come and rescued her. This is something I feel is being somewhat lost in historical romance now, the risk that we just can't even fathom with the way our world is now. I miss that. Not that I want to read it all the time but I feel like it's few and far between with books now.

Unfortunately, after a little build up that I enjoyed where Phoebe didn't know Marcus' true identity, the story just got so boring. I kept waiting for something to happen. There is a villain that pops up occasionally and acts extremely predictable even though I couldn't understand why he was there. During much of the middle of the book, he felt like a mole in a whack a mole game. Attend a ball, evil villain lurks, someone, usually Marcus, whacks him and he's gone. Another ball, evil villain looms and leers, whack he's gone. It culminates at the end in a fairly predictable way.

When I'm done with the book, I just still felt like I don't know either them. I didn't get any character attachment or depth. So much of the page time was an extremely boring, uneventful courtship, I just wish the author had spent more time building up the initial attraction, or even gave Marcus some depth by sharing more of his time in the West Indies, or building a depth of relationship upon their rekindling their relationship or you know, anything else.

This book definitely hasn't left a lasting impression on me. I've already forgotten half of it.

Loved the characters in this book. Hero who has to work hard to convince his lady that he's the one for her.

With this review, I’m not going to belabor the blurb and get right to the point. Ella Quinn writes wonderful historical romances, and I was thrilled to receive a copy of The Seduction of Lady Phoebe. Unfortunately, these characters where just a no go for this reader. Why you ask? Honestly, it came down to I got tired of reading how horrific and nightmarish it was when Lady Phoebe was a youth of *gasp* 16, her crush tried to steal a kiss (yes, just a kiss), and she punched him in the face and vowed to never to love again (insert eye roll). The story then progresses to what you’d expect—time marches on…girl hates boy (but not really), and boy tries to get girl (drama…drama…drama), and they finally end up happily ever after. That being said, everyone has different likes and dislikes when it comes to their H/h for romances; these two just weren’t my cup of tea.

**I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. **

The Seduction of Lady Phoebe is a sweet and endearing second-chance romance with down to earth characters. The family meddling is cute and was a funny touch.

I cheered Marcus on as he gained footing with Phoebe. I loved that he is a man that knows what he wants and is not scared to put in the effort and work for her.

Although we are told that he loves Phoebe deeply, I didn’t completely feel it or believe it. Maybe this stems from what I feel is a love at first sight relationship. We never get to experience or see where this deep affection comes from. I wish his past was explored more so that we could understand and experience his change.

Phoebe is a little childish sometimes with her games. Marcus asked for forgiveness, had been forthright and she is playing games by keeping him at arm’s length. There were times where I started to connect with Phoebe. I started to be happy and excited for her. She was however, so frustrating with her refusal to forgive and forget.

The story is a slow burn as Phoebe has trust issues where Marcus is concerned. There are also some wonderful intimate moments.

The writing is good as well as the story but, for me, it lacked feeling and the pace lagged at several points in the book. The characters are relatable and down-to-earth if not exasperating.

I received an ARC via NetGalley of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When his young self behavior caused a rift with the woman he loved, what a man is up to do to win her back....

This is a re-release of a book published in 2013 under the same title.

The more I read Mrs Ella Quinn’s work, the more I fall in love with her characters and her exquisite writing style. She infuses blood and flesh to her characters, making them breathing protagonists I am happy to become friend with.
It was no fast paced read, Mrs Quinn established her story to follow the lead given by her heroes, and they are in for a long running chase.
Marcus paid dearly for his youth wild days, but in some way, it did him good. By wanting to become worthy of Lady Phoebe, he saw the wrong of his past deeds and accepted to change to a better man, one who could stand head held high in front of her.
This, if she ever agrees to look his way.
As he is fully aware of his faults, and ashamed of the hurt he was the cause, he does not rush her, letting her set the pace, encouraging her to be herself and happy to get to know the true Phoebe.

Phoebe is one hell of a woman, she stands her ground, is very opinionated and knows how to defend herself.
Still she bears a deep scar left by a man she has a moment thought he could be the one for her. Since she has been wary of them and refused every admirer suit.
In the main time, she also longs to have her own house, with a loving husband. For this to come true, she must meet a man who will make her belly flutter.
When this event occurs, that her nemesis is the one awakening emotions she thought she might never feel, it unsettles her and makes her doubt her own sense.
Mrs Quinn crafted an incredible bunch of characters, and as she gave us some insights of their point of views, it was diverting to see them meddling in Marcus wooing, when they themselves decided enough was enough and they must hurry a bit this courtship.

Sure Mrs Quinn takes her time, until the courting changed hands, she was giving them moments to rekindle their damaged relationship to start over with a clean slate.
It was so agreeable to follow the merry chase Phoebe leads Marcus after her until he turned the tables and took the reins, and their meddling kin were a happy party to interfere with.
5 stars

I absolutely loved reading Ella Quinn's The Seduction of Lady Phoebe. I was given this ebook as an ARC from Netgalley The characters are portrayed beautifully. Ella Quinn made me feel every emotion all the characters in the story were feeling and experiencing. Marcus is the hero who never gave up on his first and only love and Phoebe is the heroine who learned the depths of love. A must read!

I didn't realize this book was originally published in 2013, but now it makes sense why it wasn't a favorite of mine by Ella Quinn. I usually love Ms. Quinn's books, but this one was just so over the top and not in a good way. Phoebe Stanhope is not your typical young lady. Her family has made sure all the females in the family are trained in self defense as part of their education. When Phoebe was 15, Lord Marcus Finlay in a drunken state tried to kiss her. During the encounter, he accidentally brushes against her breast and Phoebe decks him with a hard right. Marcus is banished to the West Indies, but has returned 8 years later still in love with Phoebe and vows to win her love. She is the only woman for him.

The whole premise that Phoebe was so scarred by the attempted kiss is just so ridiculous. For 8 years she is haunted by the encounter and vows never to talk to Marcus again. Now I realize that during this period, young ladies were protected against such behavior, but to keep repeating how it scarred her just was too much. As she matured, she should have realized it was just a stupid drunken stunt by Marcus. When she accidentally runs into Marcus on Bond Street in the present, she doesn't recognize him. Really? Of course, he matured, but not to recognize him at all? The other thing that didn't sit well with me was when Phoebe was once held up by highwaymen robbers. She wounded the leader and said she would never forget his eyes, yet when she comes across him in the ballroom, there's not a hint of recognition. All in all, this was not the book to start reading by Ms. Quinn. Her later books are so much better than this one.

I really enjoyed this book. I love Pheobe Stanhope she is my favorite character. The characters were great. I liked the plot is good with Marcus coming back and wanting Phoebe. This was a great story and I will have to read the rest of the series.

TBH, this book is a little all over the place with a lot of identity issues. It can really use a good editing and the author should decide who her characters are as people and stick to it. That being said the core of the story isn’t bad, but with some work this novel could be good. Thank you to netgalley for the Arc.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was a bit conflicted with this novel since it begins with the hero accosting the heroine who punches him on the nose. He's then banished and returns determined to win her back. Now I liked that Phoebe is a strong heroine determined to make decisions for herself and falls in love with Marcus as he slowly shows her he's changed. What disturbed me was that everyone around her was pushing for her union with Marcus despite her telling them initially that he tried to kiss her against her will.
The other thing I wasn't too fond of was the fact that we were told how independent and wonderful Phoebe is but never really shown. Marcus falls in love with her looks and then decided to pursue her for marriage. We don't see the slow progression of their connection. Everything seemed rushed. Just not the best storytelling in my opinion.
