Hope has a lot going on in this latest Food Blogger Mystery. She has her blog to work on, she's doing an assignment at a food magazine and she's on the committee for the town Scavenger Hunt and she's also on a team for the scavenger hunt. While participating in the scavenger hunt, Hope finds more than what's on the list when she discovers a dead body. The dead man had a lot going on in his personal life with three women claiming to be his wife. This book was full of new characters and surprises. I love how Hope follows her own moral compass and does what she feels is right even when other people don't want her to get involved. The descriptions of all of the food that Hope is making for her blog posts and the magazine assignment sounded delicious too.
I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This is the third book in the Food Blogger Mystery series by Debra Sennefelder
I love Hope and her friends! In this book Hope finds the dead body of a local real estate developer during the towns scavenger hunt. It turns out the man had not divorced his two previous wives, so now three women and the man's business partner are all suspects.
Hope can’t help but investigate all while freelancing at a magazine and working on her blog. Even with threats against her she continues to search for the killer. I have enjoyed all three books but this particular book dragged for me.
I recommend this series!
This is a book that sounded very interesting to me. I'm sure that it's an enjoyable book. However, I found that I was not interested in the characters.

This is the third book in the Food Blogger Mystery series by Debra Sennefelder.
Basic premise: Hope stumbles upon a dead body while in the middle of a town scavenger hunt event. Then after the man (Lionel) ends up dead, it is revealed that he has not one wife but THREE wives! Busy guy! Hope is warned early on to keep her nose out of the investigation since her boyfriend, Ethan is on the police force but of course, she doesn’t listen and that puts her in danger… over and over.
I love the whole food blogger thing. I think after the recipes at the end, there should be tips on how to create a successful blog. And maybe even have a blog online that we could turn to for recipe ideas. That would be fun and interactive for the readers.
The storyline was a bit convoluted but sometimes it is hard to have a straight forward murder investigation with three wives as suspects! It took me awhile to get into the whodunit but when I did, the story just flew! I will definitely be picking up other books by Sennefelder! Totally digging the food blogger sleuth!
If you love a good cozy mystery, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book!
I always love agood cozy, and this series caught my eye immediately. Food blogging; I could get into that! I liked the setting and the characters, although this one probably shouldn't be read as a stand alone mystery like I did, because some things reference the previous book and situations I knew nothing about. I was still in for the ride though, and followed on with the clues. My hunch proved correct and I arrived at the murderer long before our sleuth, but I don't mind that. The writing was steady, keeping enough information behind to keep us invested in the crime. All in all this was an enjoyable cozy and a great example of the genre!
Four stars, definitely recommend reading these in order though.
This is a quick, fun. light read. I enjoyed meeting the characters and the story was entertaining. I would buy it and read more in this series.
Another great cozy with recipes and words of cooking wisdom. Two great things that go great together! This story does take up shortly after the other one left off but you can still relate to the key players and understand what is taking place in this next mystery. Not sure what is more of a mystery, why did Lionel Whitcomb have more than one wife or why did more than one woman say "I do" to him.. You'll see what I mean as you read the book. My greatest struggle is to decide which recipe to try first because they all sound delish. Hope, our main character, on the other hand, struggles with not getting involved in this latest murder investigation even though she swears she isn't going to look into it and agrees with both her Chief of Police boyfriend, Ethan, and his lead detective Reid. After all, Hope has plenty to keep her busy working with a magazine for a week creating the perfect recipes while still maintaining her blog. What was she to do when Elaine, widow #3 pleads with her to find the culprit. It could be any one of the three widows or maybe the business partner who was seen arguing with Lionel recently. Plenty of subterfuge and a very nice storyline so that just when you think you've figured it out there's another twist to the plot. Looking forward to the next one and can't wait to try those chocolatey good recipes!
Hope Early is constantly working on her blog, Hope at Home, and presently is also doing a feature for a popular food magazine. She’s also active in her small community, and is participating in the annual scavenger hunt with a group of friends. The problem is that Hope discovers a dead body – something not on the scavenger hunt list – and it belongs to a disreputable realtor and developer, Lionel Whitcomb, and when his wife sees the body, she is pretty upset. Not as upset however, as when she finds out that her husband never properly divorced his ex-wives, and they all show up as possible heirs. Lionel’s present wife, Elaine, asks Hope to look into the murder, since Hope has also done some amateur sleuthing, and while investigating, Hope just may lose her life. Three Widows and a Corpse is the third installment of the Food Blogger Mysteries by Debra Sennefelder, and not only does it have all the elements of a good cozy mystery, it also contains plenty of food references and recipes at the end.
Readers who haven’t read the previous mysteries in the series will find that Sennefelder has done a good job of developing her characters and rehearsing enough of what happened before that the novel makes sense and doesn’t leave anyone in the dark. The characters not only seem real, but also seem to belong in the small town. There is plenty of suspense, which builds throughout, as well as a surprise dénouement.
The Food Blogger Mysteries are fun, fast reads, and contain no graphic violence, sex, or language. This is one for all ages.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this cozy by Debra Sennefelder. It's the third book of the series, but the first one that I've read. Any cozy that involves food tends to peak my interest, and Hope Early is an interesting protagonist. I plan on going back to read books 1 and 2 of this series, so that I can find it more of the backstory of the characters.
Wow, what a fun read. I've been reading this series and have enjoyed all the books. This was another great one, one of the best. Very neat mystery, different than the usual cozy mysteries out there. The main character is great and her job is very unique so that is enjoyable learning about that occupation. I'm looking forward to the next in the series!
Three Widows and a Corpse is the third book in the Food Blogger Mystery series. Hope and some friends are taking part in her town's annual scavenger hunt when she stumbles on a dead body. The scene gets even more complicated when three women show up all exclaiming about their dead husband. I like the series including the setting, Hope's life, and the supporting character. My only issue is Hope's constant need to explain that she is "curious". She is not curious but an overly nosy busybody which is fine if she will just own it and move on. The mystery is strong. I simply want Hope to be a smarter, stronger character.

Food blogger Hope Early finds one item not on her scavenger hunt list—a dead husband . . . Between developing her food blog, Hope at Home, and choosing low-cal recipes for a feature in Cooking Now! magazine, Hope has a full plate. Still, she’s never too busy to compete in a Jefferson, Connecticut, tradition—the town’s annual scavenger hunt. But as she races with her team to check off the next item, Hope discovers a grisly surprise—the body of shady real estate developer Lionel Whitcomb, shot in a parking lot. His wife Elaine, who’s also in the hunt, gasps and nearly faints. But two other women on the scene cry out that their husband is dead. It turns out this louse of a spouse was more than a little lax in legally divorcing his former wives. Did one of them put a bullet in the bigamist? Number one suspect and number three wife Elaine begs Hope to investigate. Now Hope is on a new kind of hunt—for a cold-hearted killer and triple widow-maker . . .
My thoughts
Would I recommend it ? Yes
Will I read more of this series?yes
Would I read more by this author?yes
My first time reading anything by this author or even in this series and I'm so glad that I discovered it, it's also my fist series where the main character is a food blogger which makes it a bit different from the other cozy mystery series I read.
This one has me from the start of the story to the last page, and it made me laugh at some of the craziness that Hope seemed to get herself into without trying. I also loved how the author showed Hope working on her blog and how close she was to her sister and friends. And there was times I was sure will almost sure that one of the wives had killed Lionel, and they all seemed to have reasons as to why they would do it.And I can't forget the food that Hope made, which by the way sounded like it would be delicious, with that said I would love to thank Netgalley for letting me read and review it .

My Review
Debra Sennefelder has done it again in book 3! Another great cozy mystery you can't help but love.
Hope finds herself tumbling into another dead body while dealing with three "widows" that are claiming to be the dead man's wives. Charming characters, enjoyable interactions all a great recipe for an amazing cozy mystery. filled with turns and twist to keep you reading until the very end.
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. Well let me tell you - GO BUY THE BOOK! I give this a definite 5 Star!
This was easily the best of the series so far. I have enjoyed the previous books in the set but this one was a step above those. The mystery was very good and kept me entertained throughout the read. The culprit was a bit of a surprise and the end was cute. Looking forward to the next installment!
I received this book from NetGalley and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
I found three widows and a corpse a strong mystery with great characters and the plot featured perfect amounts of family life, romance, and humor. I was entertaining from beginning to end and can’t wait for my next visit Jefferson, Connecticut.
This was a fun cozy! I read a bunch of food blogs myself, so it was great to read a book where the main character is a blogger. This book is funny and the mystery was well-plotted, the culprit was a surprise to me at the end, which is unusual. I highly reccomend this book!
Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Princess Fuzzypants here: It is a fine line that cozy authors must walk where their heroines must be in some peril but not be so pigheaded or dumb to put a target on their backs. I am afraid Hope crosses that line on occasion. While she acknowledges how close she came to disaster previously, and no matter how many friends and family insist she take more care, she blithely goes where only fools would wander.
This is not a stupid woman yet does things that any woman who is aware of her surroundings would not do. Needless to say, she gets herself into some very precarious positions and for a woman who she knows is clearly using her. Plot holes like that detract from the story for me and it is a shame.
The idea of the women coming forward after a man is murdered when they learn he is a triple bigamist is a good one. They all had reason to want to do him harm but is one of them the killer and if so, which one. Hope initially gets wangled into helping the current widow and a whole lot of other stuff. It is actually a good story with an unexpected twist. It is just a shame she is so blasé about her own safety.
Four purrs and one paw up.

It took losing a cooking competition for chef Hope Early to finally find the career she needed. After feeling burnt out as a food editor for Meals in Minutes magazine, she quit to compete in a reality baking show. Despite not taking the top prize, it led her to becoming a food blogger and then a contributor to the Cooking Now website. While the commute is longer than the walk from her bedroom to her personal computer, this new venture will help to attract new blog followers. That doesn’t mean that Hope won’t have time for a fundraising event for the Jefferson, Connecticut community center, especially having participated in the Annual Scavenger Hunt even after moving away. Unfortunately Hope discovers something not on the scavenger list, namely the body of developer Lionel Whitcomb. As it happens, multiple women sharing the Whitcomb name had already been staying in the Merrifield Inn, with a third Mrs. Whitcomb not far behind. All three declare themselves to be past or present wives of the victim, meaning that the list of suspects in his murder has also tripled.
When one of the widows sobbingly begs Hope for help, the undeniable people-pleaser finds herself unable to resist the pleas to prove Elaine Whitcomb’s innocence. It will again place Hope at odds with the investigating detective, although it’s the interactions with the chief of police that are far more problematic. Having had her heart broken by her ex-husband, Hope is very tentatively sticking her toe into the dating pool with chief of police Ethan Cahill, as their one date proved that they definitely have potential to be more than just friends. While she never expected that the cool jock from high school would ever be interested in dating the former bookworm nerd, it’s the secretive nature of his job that is proving to be the obstacle in their path. Having managed to inadvertently “help” police with her investigations in the past, Hope is finding that Ethan’s warnings and refusal to share information to be signs that he doesn’t trust her. For once Hope’s uber-ambitious real estate agent sister isn’t offering her share of unsolicited of advice, as having recently lost in the election for mayor Claire wallowing in self-pity and holed up like a hermit. When Hope’s questioning leads to the death of a witness, vandalism of her home, and even an attack on her life, Hope knows that she’s already in the sights of a killer who is determined to silence her investigation.
This third in the series propels Hope into the case by making her need to be liked the motivation for her to continue to be in the midst of murder. While not blind to being manipulated, Hope can’t deny her nature that has her wanting to help and prevent someone from being unjustly prosecuted. The three widows – the matriarch, a hippy, and a trophy – are all delightful characters themselves who add to the cast of quirky, but relatable residents of Jefferson. Foodies will appreciate Hope’s efforts to self-medicate by baking, with recipes at the end adding to the luscious step-by-step descriptions of her dessert preparations woven throughout the novel. Her adorable dog Bigelow and the aptly named feline Princess provide chaos and charm to Hope’s household, while her sister, best friends, and neighbors lend humor and emotional support. Readers will be just as satisfied with the discovery of the murder as they will the revelation within Hope’s personal life, making the next tasty installment of the food blogger one to look forward to in the New Year.
Another great mystery set off by a great cast of characters.
This series begins with Hope Early leaving her magazine editing career, a not so sweet stint on a baking reality show, and a failed marriage, all behind to focus on her Food Blogging career. Little did she know, she was going to become an amateur murder sleuth.
The third installment of The Food Blogger Mysteries starts off with a bang, literally
While competing in the town’s annual scavenger hunt, Hope finds the body of shady real estate developer, Lionel Whitcomb, shot in a parking lot. Lionel had been in the news a lot lately, pending the trial for his unsavory business dealings. Finding him shot isn't as shocking as the fact that are three women there, claiming to be a Mrs. Whitcomb.
With so many possible murder suspects on the list, despite hunky Chief Ethan asking Hope to please stay out of the case, she finds herself smack in the middle, again.
This installment had a lot of plot twists to throw you way off; however, I pretty much had this one pegged early on. I also enjoy that the recipes for the blog aren't the only thing heating up for Hope.
I received an advanced digital copy of this novel from NetGalley. I also purchased the audio version of the previous two. The narrator, Callie Beaulieu, is amazing. I highly recommend both.
I also recommend, Murder Wears a Little Black Dress, book one in the Resale Boutique series, by Debra Sennefelder, that was released in January 2019. Book two, Silenced in Sequins, will be released January 7, 2020 and is available for preorder.
