3 Stars Just Like in the Movies is a novel about a man and a woman who each inherit half of a movie theater. Luke has never stepped foot in his estranged uncle's theater and wants to sell to settle his uncle's debts. Ruby loves the theater and knows that Matty left it to her to save. Luke is grumpy; Ruby is sunshine. They butt heads often, mostly about the theater and its fate. This is definitely a rom com for those who love movies, especially the classics mentioned in the novel. The story was a bit slow and the action dragged at points, but the characters were sweet and well rounded.

A cute romance with the popular ‘hate to love’ trope. I love a book with something quirky running through, the inclusion of films throughout provided this.
I enjoyed reading this one, I didn’t fully LOVE the characters but I didn’t dislike them either. I think the story was good, a little slow in some places, maybe I was over keen on getting to the end.
Interesting.

Made me feel like a member of the Royale Theater family!

When Ruby loses her best friend in the world and finds out that the theater he owned (that she manages) is massively in debt, she is ready to fight for Matty’s legacy. One problem: the man who inherited the other half of the Royale Theater is devastatingly handsome and prepared to sell the place.

This enemies-to-lovers romance was a fun read with plenty of spice (beginning about halfway through), with movie references and parallels galore. Our hero Ruby is witty, genuine, and full of moxie, while Luke provides a more austere foil to her exuberance. The pair navigates many twists and turns before a dramatic but satisfying conclusion. Great for movie buffs or just fans of a good RomCom.

I really enjoyed this book, I liked the characters and the movie references. It lost a star as I felt on the romance side it felt like it was missing something

This was a fun little enemies to lovers romcom, on the steamier side and I had a lot of fun reading it!
Ruby is a true cinema fanatic who is struggling with grief as her best friend and owner of an indie cinema in Notting Hill passed recently and left half of the cinema to her. And the other half? Enter broody Luke Devlin, the estranged nephew of said best friend and hotshot Manhattan property developer. Incidentally also the offspring of 2 Hollywood stars so he has more issues than Vogue.
Ruby is intent on convincing him that the cinema is worth saving, and while they butt heads, sparks fly and chemistry sizzles. I myself am not a big movie person but I really liked seeing Ruby's passion for it and for the community around the indie cinema. Luke was appropriately swoon worthy and angsty, although I wish his personality had more of a chance to shine. Ruby felt much better developed for me.
But I still very much enjoyed their back and forth, the tension and all the family drama and emotions they were tangled up in, and would recommend it to movie lovers and fans of the enemies to lovers trope!

I loved the Notting Hill setting in London, and of course all the mentions of films and pop culture. However, the book really started to drag from about 60 per cent on and I trudged through the end of it

Thank you to the publisher for my eARC copy of this book. Unfortunately I didn’t love this book and therefore didn’t finish, I just didn’t connect with this one. Not for me, sorry.

I wanted to love this one, but it just wasn't for me. It has all the right pieces that I normally love, enemies to lovers, heartbreak and hard-ons, true Rom-Com movie vibes and takes place in Notting Hill of all places. But something about it just didn't work for me. I literally had to force myself to read it.

This was a really cute romance set in one of my favorite categories Hollywood.
Premise
The late Matty Devlin was so much more than Ruby Graham’s boss. He was her best friend, her father-figure, and she is showcasing a series of his favourite classic movies at the independent cinema in Notting Hill which was his life’s work … and of which she is now part owner.

Matty left the other half of The Royale to his nephew, Luke, the elusive Manhattan property developer and rumoured son of a Hollywood icon.

It’s all beginning to sound like the plot of one of Ruby’s beloved films until it becomes clear Luke is no more interested in swooping in to save the crumbling Royale than he is in talking about his famous father. He’s bad-tempered, cynical, and he couldn’t care less about the cinema!

But saving The Royale is about far more than just Matty’s legacy. The Royale is the only place where Ruby gets to live in a world of dreams and happy endings, a place where there are no lost causes, and where falling in love is just like in the movies … or is Luke about to change all that?

I loved Ruby’s dedication to her late boss Marty and her developing romance with Luke. It was so much fun reading about their journey from hate to love and with the cinematic touches it really made this one the perfect read!

This was surprisingly very cute! I loved all the movie references in this book, it made for a very enjoyable read. I wanted to give it a higher rating but the story really started to drag, which put a damper on my excitment. I did think it was quite adorable and a solid read if you're in the mood for a romance about movies.

A huge thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for providing me a copy of the ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I liked the story about the old movie theatre and the references to the movies, Ruby is a likeable and interesting character.
The romantic side was a bit too fast and I felt like something was missing.
It's an enjoyable story that I recommend.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

I had trouble getting into this one. The writing style felt a little too easy, even for young adult. It was cute for sure, but didn’t do too much to set itself apart.

Thankful for the free ARC nonetheless?

Thoroughly enjoyed this RomCom style story. It wasn't just a fluffy story, Ruby's journey was interesting to tag along with and see what was going to happen.

Ruby, reeling from the death of her best friend and boss Matty, is startled to find he has left her have of The Royale; the cinema he has owned and operated for years in London. Equally started is Matty's estranged nephew Luke who inherited the other half. Ruby is determined to keep Matty's dream alive but property developer and businessman Luke sees a failing investment. Ruby's passion for movies and Luke's disinterest in all things Hollywood create for a meet cute that, just like in the movies, wraps up in a cute bow before the rolling credits.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

I really liked this book. The premise was very interesting. Ruby was a well rounded character but Luke felt alittle flat. Overall though this book was very good. If you are a nerd, movie buff this book is totally for you!
