"The hospital is a big building where lots of things happen and many people rush around.
It is a busy place that can make you feel very small."

Thus begins a story of a little boy that is diagnosed with cancer and how he fairs as he goes through treatment in that very big hospital. Hospitals and treatments can be very scary and oftentimes one may need a loyal, faithful companion to be by your side to give you comfort as doctors, nurses, machines, medicines and check-ups can get overwhelming to a small ( or even a big ) patient.

The story is told through the eyes of a gentle, lovable black lab. This incredible companion offers unconditional love and patience to the little boy assuring him that he was not alone when facing his treatment and that together they would make it through.

"We'll Get Through This Together" shines a spotlight on the incredible connection between children and animals. All proceeds from the book go toward Project Hearts-N-Tales, a program of the Canines-N-Kids Foundation.

The author wants to make the world aware of to children and animals in the advancement of cancer treatments. She founded Canines-N-Kids Foundation realizing now is the time mobile doctors and researchers so together they canniest treat vulnerable under-served populations of children and animals. You can find out more information about this fabulous foundation by going to www.caninesnkids.org.

I received this book from net galley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I am a nanny and have various connections within the community and get asked for recommendations on how to deal with difficult subjects regularly.

This was a wonderful story for children going through illness that helps put them and ease and understand things on a level that makes sense. I love the POV is from the lab as well, an accompanying dog stuffed animal would be a perfect pairing for this book. A huge thank you to the publisher and author for tackling this so perfectly.

By helping set expectations social stories are a wonderful way to introduce children to confusing or scary events. But We’ll Get Through This Together! simply compounds confusion. It seeks to help children know what cancer treatment may look and feel like at the same time it wants to help educate readers about the similarities between childhood and canine cancer research. These goals are too desperate from one another to accomplish in one book. Perhaps a series of books would be more appropriate than a single title. Both subjects need simpler text and more illustrations to add clarity for young children.

This is a beautiful clearly written book that will provide valuable information and comfort to a sick child. Of course the canine connection is an amazing part of the book and is what brings such comfort. In each page, the loyal lab is always right there with the child as he goes through treatment.

This is a wonderful book which will be a great resource for hospitals and parents to share with sick children and their siblings and friends.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. #netgalley #wellgetthroughthistogether

This is a wonderful book for children beginning to go through cancer treatment. It's narrated by the boy's service dog and doesn't sugar coat the procedures or invalidate the fears they will have. Yet it still manages to be gentle. This book will be an excellent resource.

What an inspirational story! I think this would be a good story for any child. Pets do make a big difference in our lives. They don't need to be official service animals either. I have no idea how I'd manage without my furry babies. A sick child really needs a reliable pet to give comfort. It's why so many hospitals and nursing homes are allowing pet visits. It keeps everyone healthy! Good book!
