This was a cute YA about a girl who attends an academy for witchcraft. Of course there is a boy as well as some drama and a bad guy. It was a quick read and interesting. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.

Oh my this book needs a little help. In the beginning Harper doesn’t care about anyone but herself and then all the sudden she changes into caring about attending classes and these cats. The naming is really confusing of the cats, to change names mid book, didn’t know who was who and it was confusing. Now Olivia is a wild card in this story and her storyline is good. While I would like to see more from Ezra and maybe something from his point of view but it didn’t make sense when he snuck into the tunnel then into the library to see Harper. Then when she goes back thru the tunnel and they fight off this dragon I was so confused. Why does she all the sudden care about school and everything associated with the schools?

I received a free copy of PURRFECT MAGIC (Whisker Witchcraft, #1) by Samantha Coville in exchange for an honest review. Harper Bishop is vain, spoiled, and shallow. Harper resents having to do time at the prestigious Jourdemayne Academy of Witchcraft even though she’s one of only twenty-five students accepted each year. Harper ignores her classes in favor of dreaming about her eventual return to her fashionable life of conspicuous consumption. Harper’s poor attitude eventually alienates all of her fellow students who all worked really hard for their admission. Harper slowly begins to change and mature when, against school rules, she rescues three white kittens and becomes responsible for their well-being. However, the kittens are more than they seem; the darlings have been called to save the school, and Harper has been conscripted to aid them.

This was a decent start to a new magic academy series. If you couldn’t tell, I wasn’t thrilled with our heroine as we found her at the beginning of the book. I recommend this book to fans of magic academy series and to fans of stories where the hero/ine is forced to evolve into someone better.

I enjoyed this book. It's a fun, fast paced book about the first year of academy and a girl who becomes guardian of three hell cats. There's some predictability about skipping classes, being average in class, falling for the guy in the school next-door but overall it's a fun book. It's mostly geared to the youth, teenage group. #PurrfectMagic #NetGalley
