Oh Man, it is book 4. I am never going to learn to look before I pick my arcs. lol

From the blurb:
Danny Oldman, the handsome Lone Star sheriff, is still single. He tells himself, and anyone who asks, that he is married to his job―and what matters most is keeping the people of his beloved Texas hometown safe. The truth? Danny still hasn’t gotten over his high school crush. She moved away after graduation and took Danny’s heart with her.

My Thoughts:
It wasn't anything overly spectacular and quite predictable, which is why I didn't rate it higher than 3 stars.a good in between read. I'd definitely recommend picking up the entire series, so you get to read the stories of all the characters you come across. I unfortunatly did not do this.

A Heartstopping Intense Read💚💙
This was incredible. Skylar comes back to the small town with an entrance that won't soon leave my mind. The story just escalates from there with the two mains having true feelings for each other. Skylar however, does have that meniacal Xboyfriend after her who won't stop trying to get her back. I was engrossed as scenes unfolded and events played out. I am an impatient reader tho, so did get bogged down a bit in a few places, still an awesome read. It was high on drama with a lot of action, less on romance, but the chemistry was there.
I do think my heart stopped toward the end, now I can take a deep breath and sigh with that Happy Ending Relief!

While this may be the 4th book in the Heart of Texas series, it can absolutely be read as a stand alone! This one is about Danny Oldman and Skylar Long. Danny is the sheriff of the small town that he and Skylar grew up in. Danny is feeling like he is missing something in his life and after watching his friend find their happiness, he can't help but feeling like an outsider. And it doesn't help that he still thinks about the one girl that he never even dated and wonders what could have been. Skylar never thought she would have to run in the middle of the night, nor that she would end up back in her hometown. But she is desperate and she will do whatever she has to in order to be safe from her crazy boyfriend. But she certainly doesn't expect that the man who saves her will be Danny. Or that the attraction she had to him in high school would still be there. But can they find out what they mean to each other while still keeping Skylar safe from her ex?

I absolutely loved this one! There is drama, suspense, along with this sweet, loyal, and protective man. I loved that they got their second chance but that it also brings to light a serious issue and how hard it truly can be for women to get away from someone like her ex. Skylar is this smart, beautiful, and strong woman who went through something that no woman should ever have to go through but she stood up for herself even when she was afraid. And she not only stood up for herself, she stood up for the man she fell in love with as well. I loved them and their story!! And of course I loved the snippets of past characters and hopefully other side characters that need their own stories as well!!

This book was very good. Skylar was trying to escape an abusive boyfriend and parked right next to another car in a park. As another car pulled up and started harrassing her, the other car happened to have the county sherriff in it. He arrested the man and discovered that he knew Skylar from high school. Danny and Skylar had been attracted to each other back then but never acted on it. Her ex got out of jail and vowed he would get her back. The story was so good I couldn't wait to see what happened next. There was intrigue, justice, romance and friends helping friends Well worth reading I got this book from NetGalley for an honest review

In this book, we get to read Danny Oldman's story. He is the sheriff who has helped both the Harper's and Easton's in earlier books. Danny is a stand-up kind of guy, loyal and committed to his job. He works really long hours and is starting to have trouble dealing with after effects of the job. He is lonely, always by himself even though he has great friends in both the Harper's and Easton's. He drinks most nights just to
get to sleep. One night when he just can't go home to a dark, empty house he picks up dinner and goes to a
rest stop to eat as it has the best view in town.
While there he is witness to a very angry man trying to pull a young women out of her car.l He breaks one of the windows on her car, at which point Danny gets involved and arrest the guy, Matt for threatening and assaulting the women.
When he goes to the the woman out of her to make sure she is OK, he is shocked to see she is
Skylar Long the one girl he had a crush on all thru high school. Skylar is also shocked to see him after all this time. She always liked him in high school.
This story lets us see the many scenes behind domestic assault. Matt's family is very rich, political family
who always buy or pay off anyone who gets in their way. If Matt's family doesn't help him he hires those who will do any job for money.
This is a very intense, fast moving story that will run you thru all the emotions. The hate of Matt and what he does to break up Danny and Skylar will have you crying out loud. What they both are put thru will show how strong women have to be to get out of these bad relationships.
This is a wonderful book, that should not be missed. You will learn a lot, cry some and laugh some too.
Ending is sad and wonderfully romance at the same time.
Be sure and get your copy. I received and ARC from Net Gallery and am giving my honest opinion.

Absolutely wonderful read. If you don’t like this book then you have never loved someone from afar. We have all experienced a crush. Secretly longing to be with someone but to afraid to take the next step. Well fate usually finds away if it’s meant to happen. This book shows the strength of that love and what a man will do to protect the woman he has always wanted. Great heart tugging read

A nice book in Donna Grant’s “Heart of Texas” series. Can be read as a stand alone book. I never understood why women put up with any abuse with all the talk about it. Years ago it was an in the closet problem, and no one said anything or were embarrassed. I was glad to read how strangers and friends protect others when times are bad for others. Enjoyable book.

A Cowboy Like You is a contemporary romance with some action thrown in. Skylar is on the run from her abusive boyfriend when she reconnects with a friend from high school, Danny. Danny is the sheriff and has his mind set on helping Skylar. Her ex-boyfriend, Matt, comes from money and his family starts a smear campaign against Skylar. Matt goes off the deep end and Danny and Skylar come face to face with a monster.

I have to say that even though I read a lot of romantic suspense and contemporary romance kind of books, this one just did not do it for me. I think I had a hard time because Danny was so nauseatingly selfless and Skylar was a little one-dimensional. For instance, we know she struggled with whether or not to quit her job in Houston and move, but we have no clue what she actually does.

So, let's say, the cover threw me off a bit because I was hoping it was a cowboy romance. It was not but I still enjoyed it. Danny is a sheriff who helps Skylar and from there, their chemistry is off the charts. It was a good book to read and I liked the characters. I may check out others by this author.

Thank you Netgalley, the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was immediately drawn to Danny Oldman, the hero in this story, as he portrayed a deep sadness and loneliness that almost broke my heart. He is the sheriff and it takes up most of his life, time, and is a major commitment but he realizes he is just…alone in the world. He has great friends – ones that you REALLY wish would have your back if you ever needed help – but it’s just not the same as having a family of your own. And it’s close to the holidays so I could actually feel his sadness.

One night, as he sits by himself in a rest stop, he runs into someone he met long ago, Skylar Long. She is being followed and harassed by her ex-boyfriend but there is so much more to read about that meeting. It’s a great story – the intrigue that the author weaves to explain Skylar’s story kept me on the edge of my seat. The slow buildup of feelings between Danny and Skylar made me sigh, in a good way.

Really loved this book! Kept me guessing and rooting for both of these characters, from start to finish.

Ok, disclaimer, the H is a sheriff but does ride a horse once and buys a horse in this book. So the title is a little off, in my opinion, but the book is still worth a read.

I believe this might be the fourth in the series, but you don't necessarily need to read all of them to enjoy this one. I haven't read them all (but would like to).

The H is Danny, the sheriff. The h, Skylar, is a former classmate of his. Danny happens to be eating dinner at a rest stop when Skylar pulls up. He hasn't seen her in years as she moved away from the small town. Skylar was running away from her abusive boyfriend. Danny notices a fancy car pull up and then notices another pull in behind it. A man, Matt, gets out and punches the fancy car, busts out the window, and starts pulling the victim (Skylar) from the car. Danny intervenes which opens a huge can of worms but turns out he is very happy to see Skylar again.

There is angst and frustration keeping the reader turning the pages, not to mention a bit of passion as well.

Overall, definitely recommend reading A Cowboy Like You. This author has delivered a very enjoyable yet suspenseful read.

Intensely entertaining, action packed, suspense romance and one of the best of 2019!! Donna Grant has written of of those epic stories every reader wants in their library where they can go back and re-read this story over and over again. One non-stop, action packed, romantic suspense, page flipping bombshell that keeps you on the edge of your seat and rooting for these characters to get their happily ever after. Just blow me away. Had me hooked from the very first chapter and didn’t let go even when I had finished reading this fantastic story. Happy reading!!

Back in high school she was the girl his heart wanted, but never really got the chance to have, Skylar Long owned his heart in a way no else ever could. Through the years he has thought about her, wondered where life had taken her, and if she was happy... never expecting to get the chance to ask her the questions himself.

But then fate, and crappy circumstances, have brought her back to town, and in dire need of someone to look out for her, and keep her obsessive ex-boyfriend at bay. When Danny Oldman spots a woman being hassled by a man he immediately steps in to protect her, then when their eyes connect he realizes that he is coming to the aid of the woman who has owned his heart for years. His protective nature and badge help steer the volatile man away, but his instincts tell him that he won't be gone for long. Skylar needs help and he wants to be the man to protect her, and give her a safe place to land... maybe, just maybe he'll finally get his girl!

A Cowboy Like You is a story of second chances, new beginnings, finding love, and healing... a story equipped with everything necessary to squeeze your heart in all the right places! I thoroughly enjoyed this newest installment in the Heart of Texas series, as the previous installments it came brimming with toe curling romance, heartfelt emotion, and bits of suspense. I've got to say though this one stole the top seat as my favorite, the moment Danny wandered onto the page and saved Skylar from her ex's clutches he had my heart, nothing is sexier than a protective cowboy! Between the lingering suspense, and blossoming romance this one had my full attention from beginning to end... it was downright addictive! If you like romantic suspense stories then I highly suggest you get your hands on this one, it has the perfect balance of both to keep you captivated and swimming in feels throughout!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, via NetGalley request, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

The sheriff comes to the aid of a damsel in distress. Abuse, family money, politics, friends and so much more. Romance and suspense. A definite page turner.

Super cheesy and predictable, but all the best romance novels are. The characters were likeable but I didn't really feel their connection.

4 out of 5 stars for A Cowboy Like You, the 4th novel in the Heart of Texas series. I hadn’t read the first 3 books in this series (I have since rectified that snafu) but that didn’t affect my enjoyment of this new to me author.

Danny is the town sheriff and he is pretty much used to being alone. He doesn’t mind it either, not having to answer to anyone, but companionship is becoming more and more enticing lately. His friends have been concerned about him but he’s gotten the East’s and Harper’s off his back, more or less.

Skylar left town many years ago and now finds herself driving back to the rest area right outside town. She is fleeing an abusive ex and goes home solely on instinct. Seeing someone following her has her scared but she keeps going, not sure what is going to happen.

Danny finds himself at the right place at the right time, and saves Skylar from any harm. With her ex Matt trying to sabotage her life, she takes refuge at the East Ranch and finds herself with a whole new set of friends, Danny at the head of the pack.

Skylar and Danny work together to take down Matt and everything his family tries to do to her. They get closer along the fight and find themselves having feelings for each other. Can Skylar give up life in the big city for small town love?

This was the first book I’ve read by the author and I liked it so much I quickly borrowed the first three in the series from my local library. 4 solid stars for this copy I received from Netgalley without expectation for review.

I love a good reunion story! This one included an interesting twist with Skylar being on the run from an abusive boyfriend - made even more appropriate since I read this story during #domesticviolenceawarenessmonth. As with the other books in this series - Donna Grant does a great job of weaving in action with romance! I liked that the police actually took her story seriously - that is something that (in real life) is unfortunately not as common as it should be.

I do highly recommend reading the other three books that came before this one - they provide a nice background on the characters.

I just love everything by Donna Grant. I read them all as soon as possible and can never wait for the next book in any of her series. This didn't disappoint and the story moved along at a nice pace throughout. I liked the main characters and found myself hoping for the ending that I got.

Danny is borderline alcoholic, and lonely and single. Thinking about the one who got away, lo and behold Skylar shows up and he steps in to protect her from her crazy ex-boyfriend. A fast paced story, that kept the action going well. Hard to put this one down, and I highly recommend it.
