A COWBOY LIKE YOU by Donna Grant is an exciting small town romance. Danny the town sheriff and Skyler get a second chance, after Danny comes to her rescue! Skyler was the girl in high school Danny never thought he had a chance with. Skyler is trying to escape from her abuser. Lots of tense moments in this story. Danny's friends are solid and are always there when he needs back up!

LOVED this book! Danny is the positively swoon-worthy sheriff who has a job he loves, lots of good friends, but yet is lonely as he goes home to an empty house each night. Skylar is the girl he had a crush on all through school, but was afraid to ever ask out. Since she left the area right after high school, he never had the chance as an adult. A chance encounter puts them back together, even as Skylar is literally fighting for her life.

This is an engaging novel that tackles the tough subject of domestic violence and just how hard it can be for some women to escape it, We've all read the statistics showing that the most dangerous time for a woman is when she's leaving the abuser - the author tells the story of just how dangerous it can be through Skylar. Yes, the over the top money and resources her abuser has are over the top, however, she makes it feel relatable.

I love the men in this series and, while this is a stand alone novel, enjoyed the characters from the prior books making an appearance in this novel.

If you enjoy sexy cowboys and a strong woman who just needs a bit of help, you will love this book. The author is on my must read authors' list.

Poor guy. Christmas should be fun.

Should he go to rehab?

That took a scary turn.

Oh, you idiot. You are going to pay. A cop is next to you.

Good thing she at least took photographs.

This just keeps getting better and better.

You're not gullible, honey. The guy is just a lying sociopath. This can't be the first woman he's done this to.

Matt knew exactly what he was doing.

Someone dumped Jace?

Ha, they both have orange underwear on.

This guy is officially psycho. Poor Spencer.

Her parents are horrid.

She's still naive.

Buh-bye. Those guys were a discredit to the military.

New man, my butt.

Good ending. Orange again.

A Cowboy Like You is an excellent second chance romance by Donna Grant. Ms. Grant has provided readers with a well-written story filled with phenomenal characters. Danny is the county sheriff and finds himself sitting at the rest area having dinner alone. Skylar is on the run, she's escaped her abusive boyfriend and is determined to get away from him this time. Danny and Skylar's story is loaded with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I enjoyed reading A Cowboy Like You and look forward to reading more from Donna Grant in the future. A Cowboy Like You is book 4 of the Heart of Texas Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a great series- very suspenseful, dramatic and romantic! I loved the East and Harpers and Sheriff Danny was great in those books. I was excited to read his story. He is a tough man, hard working and always detached from the others. He enjoys his friends and their family, but he thought he would settled with his own family by now. Memories of the one who got away are always present with Danny, so when Skylar arrives back in town Danny is not only shocked by on high alert as Skylar brings an ex to town who is dangerous and not about to let her go.

Skylar is on the run and for some reason her hometown is where she lands. Problem is she led her ex there and he is hell bent to get her home at whatever cost. Luckily, the local Sheriff rescues her from the clutches of the evil ex Matt. Sheriff Danny- that doesn't surprise Skylar as Danny was always quick to lend a hand and help others. She isn't even surprised that she is attracted to Danny since she always had a connection she felt to him.

The entire Harper/East and friends gang are soon brought into the action of Matt and his terrorizing of Skylar. This gang is the real deal when it comes to having their friends' backs.

As with the rest in this series, this was an an energetic, thought out plot that was made a great read. The drama, action and romance was the perfect amount.

Thanks NetGalley and St. Martins Press for the ARC.

I have enjoyed reading this series so far and this one more than meet my expectations.

Danny is a loner. Being a sheriff keeps him busy and he doesn't have time for a relationship. At least that's what he tells everyone.

Skylar is running away from an abusive relationship and finds herself back in her small town.

Danny has always carried a torch for Skylar, and imagine his surprise when Skylar turns out to be the one he rescues. Skylar remembers Danny for his kindness and his tendency to come to the rescue of those in need. She is not surprised when he takes her to a safe place. The warm reception she receives from his friends is unexpected, but deep down she knows that she can trust Danny. Her wealthy abusive ex is non too happy about the turn of events, and is not giving up so easily. After all he is filthy rich, and money can buy anything. Right?

Whilst trying to protect Skylar, Danny realises that his crush for her wasn't just that. Skylar has always admired Danny and soon her feelings for him are not what she thought. The problem is Matt, her ex will go to any length to win her back. How dare she walk out on him? He uses his wealth, deceit and violence to prove his point. Given his family's reputation and influence, can Danny and Skylar survive all the threats and danger that come their way?

Danny and Skylar are a good fit and fight for what they have together. Despite the turbulence, their love is unconditional. The characters from the previous books are more warmhearted than ever. The plot is well paced with suspense, action and romance.

I was kindly issued with an eARC from Netgalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

.Skylar try to live her abusive relationship, but her boyfriend finds her, good thing Danny, was there.
Danny is a sheriff, he have seen so much that he has trouble coping, then, one day he helps a woman, then he finds out that this is woman, who got away. He will do anything to protect her and she will do anything to save him.
The story is well written with great characters.

“A Cowboy Like You” is a well written and addictive story that draws you into the life of Danny Oldman, a positively handsome Lone Star sheriff. He is married to his job and longs to have the kind of love and relationship that others have, however the one person he loves is an old high school crush that has made a new life in Houston, TX.

It is not until Skylar Long walks back into Danny's life that old memories of her start to resurface. His heart stirs up old feelings and a hope that he can get a second chance to win her heart. There is only one problem that could keep them apart and that is her crazy obsessive ex-boyfriend who is bent on having Skyler for himself and will not let anything get in his way...not even Danny. He must protect her at all cost if he wants to get into her heart.

This story is well-rounded with its share of intimacy, friendship, trust and suspense that had me turning the pages as well as loving the rekindling relationship between the two characters. Danny and Skylar are truly made for one another and this book was amazing from start to finish.

Donna Grant is a newcomer as authors go to this reader. I thought the story was sweet, wonderful, a bit witty in areas, delightful with a pinch of suspense. It has the kind of drama that makes you believe that regardless of the circumstances one sees on the outside, when trust and faith are introduced... love will prevail.

Thanks very much to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

5-Stars
