Outrageous Grace Every Day by Mary E DeMuth is a verse by verse examination of the book of Romans. I love the way this author examines the book of Romans with such a fresh yet reverential tone. I think believers of many backgrounds would love this book. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
Having grace is such a difficult thing for so many Christians. With the help of this book you are able to take a self journey into learning how to be graceful in so many situations that you wouldn’t have been able to in the past.
This was such a wonderful and insightful read for so many reasons. This book helped me I’m ways I can’t even begin to express!
Thank you to the publisher, author, and Netgalley for the gifted review copy. All opinions are my own.
In-depth and thought provoking un packaging of Paul’s writings to the Romans. This isn’t a book to be rushed, by being broken down into manageable sections it can be enjoyed and give the reader a greater insight and understanding of the passages. I’d recommend this book to anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of Romans.
This book is not filled with sweet, simple, five minute devotions. It’s a study of Romans that is filled with Biblical truth that needs the reader’s full time and attention to let it sink in and have an impact. This is a book that I’ll be reading through again at my own pace and let the message speak to me. I was quite impressed with this book.

Although written with the characteristic research, thoroughness and attention to detail Mary DeMuth brings to everything she writes, this book of devotional reflections requires slower reading in order to digest the nuggets of truth and insights being shared. As an in-depth bible study of the book of Romans, it is enlightening and eminently helpful in making the harder passages not only readable but relatable.
Broken down into bite-size chunks, accompanied by heartfelt poetic songs, prayers and thoughtful questions, each section is rendered more easily digestible than it might be otherwise. The author has a great gift for words and for drawing out the deeper meaning of the text. All of which helps the reader to better understand the more challenging passages.
I took it slowly, not rushing the time required like I might have done with a novel or a less exhaustive text. And if you do the same, you will find that the teaching builds beautifully on itself, as your own understanding grows. You will also develop a deeper appreciation for the original text in its historical and social context.
I have to admit that the book of Romans is not the easiest to study and definitely not for the faint-hearted. But here, in Mary DeMuth’s very capable hands, it proves to be a fascinating glimpse into how God wants to instruct us in the art of holy living and spiritual understanding, as described in Paul the Apostle’s epistle. Its glorious, redemptive message is made easier to accept because of this truthful, freeing, grace-filled book.
A wonderful read focusing on the Grace of God.
I would recommend this book.
Review given honestly and freely after receipt of a reader copy. This opinion is completely my own and was not influenced in any way. Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher.
Mary is a great writer. Each of her books have been written with her heart and soul. She has been written over 40 books and each of them is worth the read.

Outrageous Grace Every Day is a daily devotional through the book of Romans. It’s a quick read, but each days gives you time to sit with the rich truth of Romans. Romans is one of my favorite books of the Bible and I’m grateful for the opportunity to slow down and take this beloved book one day at a time. She encourages the reader to go through this with a friend and I love that idea! It would be great to go through with a group of friends and have a group text or weekly video call to talk over what you are learning. Great devitional. Solid theology: I learned a lot reading this book. I can see myself using this book again in years to come.
An excellent read going verse by verse through the book of Romans.
DeMuth writes in a clear and understandable way taking us through Romans in three months. She takes us through at a very slow and considered pace explaining clearly what we are reading in context and in comparison to the whole Bible. Ending each reading with a relevant prayer.
I was given this book by net Galley and Harvest House in return for an honest review.

Beautifully written commentary study on the book of Romans! Great to do alone but absolutely wonderful to do in a group!
This book is a 90 day devotional based on the epistle of the Apostle Paul to the Romans. Each chapter begins with a worship song penned by Mary DeMuth. The daily passages are short, followed by some thoughts - sometimes personal in nature, sometimes more theological- and a personal prayer.
DeMuth encourages her readers to get a few friends to read the devotional together and discuss what they've learned every week. The letter to the Romans wasn't a letter to an individual person, but to the Body of Christ, the Church, with a message that is still just as true and needed today: the hope of the good news! We are members of this Church and are meant to grow together, so DeMuth encourages us to immerse ourselves in Scripture both alone and in community.
"The power of the gospel is this: All are welcome. Whether we're Jew or Gentile, whether we have the law or do not, whether we grew up in a Christian home or didn't, whether we ran far away from the Lord or stayed cautiously near, the invitation is unbiased and welcoming. We all need a Savior." (chapter 2)
I enjoyed reading it on my own, but I know I would also enjoy reading it with a group of friends, as DeMuth recommends.
Thanks to Harvest House Publishers, Mary DeMuth and Netgalley for the ARC.
This 90 day devotional is original in that it is a study of Romans. Not your typically women's devotional fare! I was impressed with the depth of study as well as the positive outlook it created in me. This was a joyous read and unlike any other look into Romans that I have read.
A lovely devotional with a fresh perspective, love the daily inspiration and reminders, would recommend!
This would be a good devotional for someone new to faith. It's a deep dive into Romans and does offer a unique perspective.
This 90 day devotional is such a fresh and joyful perspective on the book of Romans. As Mary leads you through a story of God's redemptive love, you will be reminded that nothing you can do will alter the life changing reality of what Jesus accomplished on the cross.
This is a way to immerse yourself in daily scriptures and prayers.
This is a very good devotional on the book of Romans. Each day has a scripture to read, a prayer and it explains what you just read.
