Not sure exactly what I was in the mood for, I scrolled through my Kindle and came across The Good Neighbor by Cathryn Grant. The cover captivated me with the pink shoe lying on the road and the idea of a kidnapped child. A Missing Persons story. The story starts with Brittany and her parents moving into a small close-knit suburb, the neighbors don't know much about the family as they stick to themselves and it seems Brittany acts much younger than she is. She seems younger than her 14 years old. One night after being here a couple of weeks, Brittany vanishes and is classed as a missing person. Next door Taylor helps by making a Facebook page running search parties and helping the family with whatever they need. During the time Brittany is missing, a woman Crystal sees the post and is shocked as this is her daughter who was taken from her almost 10 years ago. Crystal contacts Taylor and is first seen as a prank messenger but as Crystal and Taylor correspond, it looks like Crystal is telling the truth. What happened that night ten years ago and how did Brittany end up with this set of parents? Are they loving parents or is there something much more devious going on? This book reminded me of Jason Rekulak's book Hidden Pictures as it had a similar feel to the storyline. If you love missing children and books like The Face on the Milk Carton by Caroline B. Cooney, then check out Cathryn Grant's The Good Neighbor today.
I can see this one worked for many people before me - so if the synopsis sounds good (or if you love this very popular author), then you should give this one a try.
I just personally struggled with this one. I found it a bit over the top. I found the conversations stilted and unrealistic. I struggled with the characters and I knew very early on this just wasn't going to be for me.
A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.
An interesting premise told from multiple viewpoints. Drip feed of information to keep you guessing throughout. Thanks for the opportunity to read
Annoying and dislikeable characters, and a lot of different points of view, but a page-turner of a tale all the same.
A really good intense eead that will draw you in and keep you there until the last page. Based around a missing 14 year old girl, suspicion turns on the parents. Each neighbour gets involved in the search and things become interesting when secrets starts to come to the surface. Definitely worth a read
I enjoyed the first 75% of this book very much. I liked the multiple points of view but had to reread some parts as it’s very fast paced. I found the ending to be cheesy and dramatic and unbelievable which spoiled it a little for me.
This story was tantalizing, juicy, and fun! I found myself really enjoying this tale of thrilling twists and turns. A very addictive page-turner that I can highly recommend!
I was a little underwhelmed with the characters but I enjoyed the plot twist and was surprised at the ending. I'll definitely be looking for more from this author.
This book is brilliant. Kept me hooked throughout. Thank you so much to Cathryn Grant and for the ARC.

This book is about a small community of affluent people who are neighbours. A new family moves in and has a daughter who is home schooled and barely ever interacts with anyone else. She soon goes missing, and the neighbouring comes together to find her. Deep secrets are soon to be unraveled and this book takes you through this journey of parenting, secrets and ofcourse functioning as a community.
I took many days to read it and I really hoped that the book would overwhelm me, I was hoping there would come a point when reading it would be worth it, but somewhere it just did not live up the blurb created. Somewhere I expected it to turn out as it did, though the turn of events were supposed to be gory and overwhelming, I felt nothing 🙆... While the premise was interesting, the actual story was a bit of a let down.
.
A daughter vanishes, and her parents are suspects. Their neighbor is their rock, organizing search parties, providing meals, etc. Dark secrets from the past are coming to light and might be the cause all along.
A suspenseful and gripping novel, it kept me on the edge off my seat
Thank you for this advanced copy which was a great read, I had trouble putting this down! I liked the way it was written and it made for an easy read. I would definitely recommend and look forward to reading another book by Cathryn.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was an excellent page turner that I couldn’t put down. It’s full of twists and turns throughout that keel you on the edge of your seat. The characters were interesting, the plot was excellent, and the style of writing was perfect. The first book I have read by this author and I will be keeping my eye out for more in the future. If you enjoy reading a good psychological thriller then this book is for you.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a honest review.
Who can really know their neighbors. What we see on the outside is not always what occurs behind closed doors. The Cushing family moves to have a new start. They have moved into a neighborhood that is very neighborly and the cul de sac is never the same again. Taylor was a little unsure of the family from the beginning and the more she was around them, the more unsure of them she became. One evening, Moria was very disturbed that her daughter was missing and went knocking on all the neighbors doors. The neighbors began to help her but no one knew if Brittany Cushing ran away or was kidnapped. I totally enjoyed this thriller. It had a very slow build that engaged me from the very beginning. It is full of control, schemes, deceit, doubt, mysteries and an unnerving ending. It is told from multiple POV's which keeps the story going. The police are involved in this story but that is not what it is all about. It truly is about getting to know the people and do things are always appear how them seem? The answer is no. If you enjoy mystery thrillers, you will enjoy this story.
Thanks NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Pretty good book! An enjoyable read. I read it in only a few hours while I have some quiet time. The ending threw me for a loop. It was a good psychological thriller.
When 14 year old Brittany vanishes from her bedroom one night, her parents are devastated, certain she has been taken.
They can’t bear to think about who has done this and what might be happening to their precious girl.
Even worse, the police seem to see them as suspects, implying that they may have had a part in their own daughter’s disappearance. Only their neighbor, Taylor, is a rock. She organizes search parties, feeds the volunteers, works night and day to help them find Brittany.
But as this affluent California community becomes focused on the hunt for the missing girl, it slowly becomes clear that her disappearance is linked to terrible secrets from the past.
Secrets that must be kept hidden at all costs….

This was so good! I didn't want to put it down. The mystery was good and kept me guessing. The twists and surprises were great.
I was completely glued to the pages and highly recommend it.
When a 14 year old girl goes missing, her parents are the first suspects. Their neighbor, Taylor, helps them organize search parties and works around the clock to help them find her. As the search intensifies, old secrets start to come to light, but some people don't want those secrets revealed.
If you love thrillers, your going to love this book.
