Starts out quickly, then falters. The pacing throughout is really choppy, and I am still unsure as to how I feel about the ending. Interesting premise, but I found the execution lacking.

The book has a good storyline and a smooth narrative. The emotional thoughts towards the end like what is motherhood truly about is told well. The girl character could have been developed better. The ending was good. She was not given to any of the women who didn’t know to be a mother. For the mystery lovers, there is no mystery. It’s rather a family story. It’s 3.5 to 4 stars.

Intense. Riveting. Emotional. Suspenseful. Addictive. Dark. Complex. This story has one shocking surprise after another. This book brings it ALL! Truly a MUST for your TBR list!

This book will have you side-eying your neighbors. You never know what people do behind closed doors or what their underlying motives are. This story was so much more complex than I expected. What is the true mark of a good mother and when does love go too far? Everyone did what they thought was best based on their own skewed logic and selfish desires, and twisted the facts to match their predetermined conclusions. In the process, they lost sight of what was truly best for Brittney. This was an excellent book and drives home that appearances don’t always match reality.

Thank you to Inkubator Books and Net Galley for the chance to read and review this book. This book hooked me right from the beginning-several big twists and turns! Moira wakes up one morning and discovers her daughter Brittany is missing, and runs to her neighbor Taylor for help. As the search for Brittany begins, the reader discovers things are not what they seem to be in this neighborhood. Highly recommend!

A 3.5 star read rounded up to a 4 due to the fast pace and easy writing style of the book. There were some characters who could have used a lot more development, including our lost girl, Brittany. Others were written in a completely unrealistic way - Taylor could drive anyone to madness with her obsessive behavior and in the end, it felt like her character would have had more challenges and consequences in real life.

But this book is not real life and as usual with a thriller/mystery, there should be some suspension of disbelief. With that, this book is a fun whodunit with a few red herrings. I would not have minded some further background into our main family and a few more suspicious - I mean, good - neighbors.

Thank you Netgalley for this preview!

This book was received as an ARC from Inkubator Books in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

From cover to cover I could not find anything I did not love in this book. The plot was so intense and intriguing and there were twists and turns at every page. The mystery and solving the disappearance of 14-year-old Brittany got more jaw-dropping as the story went on and the ending was a shocker which made it even more exciting. Not only will our community love this book but, I might just get a copy myself. Also, while I was reading, I found a lot of elements similar to The Store by James Patterson which got me even more excited as well with the neighbor bending over backwards helping the parents where her motive still remains unknown because of the secrets that are kept and will remain hidden being the key to finding Brittany.

We will consider adding this title to our Mystery collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

When a young girl disappears from her home, everyone is worried. Crime doesn’t often touch the lives of those who live in this picturesque cul-de-sac in the Silicon Valley but fourteen year old Brittney has vanished from her room in the middle of the night and there are no answers about who is responsible. Did someone sneak in during the night or was a neighbor involved. Things are not as they seem in this perfect community.

The Good Neighbor is a must read tale by Caitlyn Grant. The story grabbed me from the start and kept me guessing until the end. These characters are deeply flawed and completely realistic. This is the first book I have read by Grant. It it won’t be the last.

This book had all the twists and turns and I loved it. I would never gave guessed some of the things that happened. I do wish at the end an explanation had been given for certain repeated behavior but overall the plot was very good. The ending does leave readers to only guess at the possible motivations that caused this drama to unfold and to wonder how deep the damage may run as life moves forward. I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review. I highly recommend it if you love psychological thrillers.

The Good Neighbor by Cathryn Grant is easily one of the most twisted and unpredictable stories of child abduction that I have ever read, and I can honestly say that I enjoyed every bit of it.

When sheltered fourteen year old Brittany goes missing from her bed on her affluent California cul-de-sac, her parents are frantic for answers and fear the worst. As police suggest that a runaway scenario is as much a possibility as abduction, the neighbors on the street must band together in a way that they have never done in an effort to uncover the truth about the disappearance. One neighbor in particular throws herself wholly into the search, and will not let up until Brittany is found. Yet the cul-de-sac is not without its secrets, and soon clouds of suspicion are falling over those who were physically closest to the missing girl. How well, in fact, do we really know our neighbors?

This is a novel that will keep you guessing right up until the final page, with one shocking reveal following another. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for this ARC.

This book opens with the disappearance of a young teen. The slightly weird next door neighbour gets involved and there is a time when I think thought she is the neighbour that the book's title refers to. This frustrated me as she was a bit more of a busybody than good for the family next door, although from her perspective she's trying her best. As the book progresses I realised that Taylor wasn't the only candidate for the title, depending on your perspective.
I enjoyed this book, told from different perspectives, although parts of it were a bit slower than I'd like and I'd have liked a bit more character development with a couple of the characters. I'd definitely like to read more by this author though.

This book had me gripped from the Prologue. I found myself imagining the storyline, murder maybe or kidnapping? Throughout the book the story unfolds as each chapter is from the different characters you encounter along the way from their perspective of what happened to Brittany. As the story unfolded I thought I had the ending sussed but Cathryn Grant had me gripped till the very end proving my idea wrong. A brilliant read.

Brittany is a fourteen year old girl who vanished from her room one night. Her parents are besides themselves and struggle as the police look more at them as suspects than anybody else. Their neighbor, Taylor, is a rock. She organizes search parties, feeds the volunteers, works night and day to help them find Brittany.

The further the investigation goes the more secrets that come out about the family. Where is Brittany? Why does a 14 year old have her old bed and other non-teen things still adorning her bedroom? She is home-schooled, not allowed to have friends outside of the home-school group, and only can go online with a parent present. Did she runaway or did something more sinister happen?

This book is told from several different perspectives. The book has a lot a twists ands turns and an unexpected ending.

What an utterly amazing book. A tale of lies and deception
This novel has some vivid characters in it. Some were likeable and some weren’t. But they were all so believable.

This is a different type of missing child thriller. A new family moves into a Californian subdivision and they are almost a stereotypical 1950’s family who keep to themselves and home school their teenage daughter. When the girl goes missing in the middle of the night, the neighbors try to create a sense of community and help the devasted family. One particular neighbor, Taylor, learns more than she expected , and has the choice of telling the police searching for the child or keeping silent out of compassion for the devastated mother. I doubt whether some of the characters actions are realistic but they move the story along to a really good last third of the book where you really don’t know how it will end.

The summary of "The Good Neighbor" interested me, but I found myself having a hard time getting into it. Normally, the obvious twist doesn't bother me, but I found myself rolling my eyes frequently while reading this one.
No laundry went unfolded to finish one more chapter during this book.

2/5 *I received a copy of this book from netgalley in exchange for my review.
